Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Had I tried it on first, I would have paid full price!

Bought this to be my go to shell for any adventure where weather will be an issue.

First off, let me say this thing is much softer and quieter than I was expecting. This was a pleasant bonus. The technical details are all there, and I appreciate the placement and ease of use with regards to the draw cords, even if I were wearing gloves.

Being tall, relatively slim, and with longer arms, fit has always been a challenge when finding a good shell. In the past I have had to sacrifice fit in the torso in order to get a comfortable arm length and ordering online is usually not a sound option due to this fact.

I will give my info and fit impressions in order to help to add more clarity for those still on the fence:

I am 6"0', wear a Size 40 or 41 chest suit jacket, and a 34 length dress shirt sleeve. My waist is about a 33, all in US sizes.

I ordered a large first based on other reviews, but trying it on over a t-shirt and two sweaters layered, thought it might be a bit too roomy still, so I ordered a Medium for comparison.

The medium was a tad too tight in the chest with only a t-shirt and thin button down shirt underneath. It seemed like there was a big difference in size between medium and large. Both certainly had long enough sleeves, almost too long during normal wear, but stretching my arms out while sitting on my mountain bike they are just right.

Trying the Large on again I decided the fit was not too loose after all, and I am confident I can still get a down sweater under there when I need it.

Thanks to Backcountry, returning the Medium was a breeze!
