Ben Reynolds's Bio

Hello from Alaska! I am a commercial fisherman and photographer. Basically I spend time in every part of this amazing state. In addition to those things, Im a certified Helicopter Snowboard Guide, Surfer (cold water and tropical!) free-ride mountain biker, I alpine climb and whatever I happen to feel like doing!
As far as gear, I put things through the wringer pretty good, so I will only review something positively if it holds up to more than ordinary wear. See ya out there!

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 145 lbs
Size Purchased: small

I am 5'6 145lbs. The small fits a bit awkward. The sleeves as well as the body are quite long, too long for this type of jacket on myself. The fit is trim however and doesn't leave much room underneath. You can't wear a watch under the sleeve for example. The side panels are not soft like on the Arcteryx Atom, they are more of a rough hard faced softshell and do not feel nice on bare skin if wearing a short sleeve shirt. Hood is very puffy and more suited for a big poofy winter coat, not a mid weight jacket such as this. Going to return it and try another. My Patagonia Nano Puff Hoody fit the bill for this type of jacket better and has been more versatile.

Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: True to size

Stats: 5'6 140 lbs size 8 41 1/3
The shoe fits true to size, perfectly snug with just the right amount of room in the toe box to not feel cramped. I have several runs on the south, snow free sides, of mountains here in AK. The trail conditions have ranged from steep dry dusty slopes, scree, mud and some snow and ice. The grip is phenomenal! I have not slipped out once either on the ascents or descents. Water quickly enters the fabric uppers, but then almost as quickly evaporates out. I have yet to get back to the trailhead with wet feet. Incredible tools for their intended purpose.

Just wanting to know who has tried this jacket on in person. All the features are great, atleast on the prototypes we had in Haines last winter. Does the sizing on the production models run huge like some of their other jackets? I am 5'6 145lbs and wear a small Burton Ak jacket. I would switch to this one though if it would fit!?
