I bought these shorts looking for something that is durable and is worn above the knee. I think I found it. I haven't put it through a lot, but I have climbed and swam in them, to my pleasure. I am 5'5"and they rest right above the knee, also to my pleasure. They fit in a harness well and are very soft and comfortable for lounging. My only doubt is that they may not survive a lot of backpacking trips because they are pretty thin. But local crags and road trips and around town should be ideal.

My main question for this shoe was, 'What's it like in the snow?' It is made of Gore-Tex so I figured it would work as long as snow didn't get into the obviously low tops. Upon opening the package I became skeptical because there are mesh vents on the sides of the shoes. I tried them out anyway and they do allow moisture into the shoe for sure, but with wool socks it doesn't really affect the foot all that much. Wool socks make all the difference by insulating the foot, while the shoe doesn't protect from water. So it all boils down to, 'How dry do you need to be?'

Very comfortable, though!
