While I do not do any hiking in these boots as I live in Louisiana, I am a huge Keen fan as they are the only shoe I have found in 30 years which accommodate my awkward long left and wider right feet. I use them daily to walk my dog in, and as an everyday type shoe. As long as Keen continues to make shoes like this, I will continue to buy them. Well worth the money.
They fit perfectly out of the box (13R), with little to no break-in time. Good for my wider feet in the toe box. Accurate sizing, although Backcountry's picture of these boots shows the slate black/harvest gold leather color to be slightly lighter than what actually is true.
The boots breathe well, they are very comfortable and light, the ankle height is perfect for stability, the tongue comes up enough so as not to be overwhelmed by the laces. Great traction on slippery concrete, dirt and gravel the same. Good foot bed, no need for special inserts.
And something I really appreciate, minor as it is - the laces are just long enough to be tied appropriately without extra, which is just another example of the thought put into these boots.Would add that if they were waterproof they would be six stars.
Love em, got em on sale, will buy Keens again from BC for sure.
