Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really like these lights: low cost, lightweight, great light beam, easy to operate along with a flexible/rotating "head". OK, I confess battery changes were always met with anxiety as the latch does seem "fragile". I can see how others thought the same thing. I just watched the PTEC marketing video on the lamp. Now "who would of "thunk" the headband adjuster was designed to assist opening the battery lid!!! It works great! Shazam and Goolllly! My anxiety is now gone! I always thought this was a good lamp, now I say great lamp. If you want to waste you money and carry more weight, yeah, go ahead and buy a more expensive and heavier BD or other lamp! To quote Fred Sanford, "You big dummy!"

I bought my first one of these lights to take on scouting outings from SAC. I liked them so much that when they came back on sale I bought some more and gave one to my son and a few others as gifts. Plenty of light, easy to hang in a tent or over the table plus they dim. Great at home for power outages as well. Go get 'ya one! (You'll be glad you did!)

I have an Equinox 2 that I bought on SAC for a crazy low price...its essentially the twin to this tent. Same pole setup and floor plan. Just went through a monster TRW storm at Shenandoah and the tent did very well indeed. The low to the ground fly rode out the wind and kept out the rain very well...dry as a bone. Strong pole support. Bottom Line: ALPS may have bargain prices but they make great gear and are well worth the money. BP

Not a question but a coment...IF Weight is NOT your highest metric in choosing a table take a look at teh Lifetime 2410. Heavy duty, packs up well, built like the proverbial Brick Outhouse one talks about! Four fat guys will cause a collapse and it is under $100.00 to your door. Brought to you by the same folks who make the white banquest tables and great folding chairs,Lifetime. Their name says it all. Made for life. "Boog"
