Austin J's Bio

I've lived in Salt Lake all my life. I grew up Mountain biking at least a couple of times a week for most of my life. About 7 years ago I started road racing. Utah has always been the ideal place for riding. Plenty of steep mountains or even long straight flats if you need them. I started in the bike industry around that same time and was immediately hooked both on the sport and the industry itself. Cycling has been good to me and now I get to help other people discover it. If I'm not at work you'll find me fly fishing or enjoying one of Utah's many trails.

In the past I've put Rio Gold on most of my reels. I've really liked this line. Mends feel sharper and more precise. Casting even feels like it's easier to time. This floats exceptionally high and having multiple colors to gauge distance on longer casts has been unexpectedly beneficial.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been out on the river in this three or four days a week for the
last month. It gives plenty of warmth, but most jackets do that. No Velcro on the wrists turns out to be a positive here as it means less for your line to hang up on. The front pockets fit fly boxes great and hold a decent amount. When you dip a sleeve releasing a fish it dries super fast on the interior, and the exterior can shed a complete deluge. The hood is cut perfectly to wear with the brim of a hat sticking out and doesn't block peripheral vision. I'm 6'4" 195 and the large fits perfectly. Follow the fit chart on this one.

This works awesome for people who train daily on tubulars. If you do get a flat this will seal it up, a little CO2 and you'll be able to get back home, no problem. The pit stop canister doesn't require much pressure at all. If you do push it against the valve too hard it can deform enough to spray out the sides and cause a mess. Nice and easy, just the way it should be.

Have had these for about a month. They go EVERYWHERE with me. After being crammed in bags, dropped, sat on, and generally used like they were stolen they still look brand new and sound great. Can you get better sound? Yes. Is it worth what you'll pay? No. Sol Republic is one of my new favorite brands I'll be getting plenty more of their stuff.

These goggles offer a wide field of vision. I wish the strap had a system similar to the IOX. Also fogged a little on the first use. In all fairness I did wear them to hike in for quite a ways and am still happy with them.

These pants work perfect for anything outdoors. Climbing they are the best though. Not to heavy and move with you really well. Even though they are light they stand up to abuse really well. Not bad looking for when your done and just relaxing somewhere.
