Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I wrote a 5-Star review of this glove last winter (I don't know where it is on this site, it shows up on my profile, but not the item description) and I stand by everything I wrote back then. It was a GREAT glove- very warm, very comfortable, very waterproof.

Until the inside tore. Both gloves in the same spot on the same day. I sent them to Mountain Hardwear for warranty repair and it was a giant headache to deal with them. It took a long time to complete the process (Two months) and that was after many e-mails and several phone calls (including un-returned voicemails requiring more calls and e-mails) to ask for status updates. I finally got a refund check, but I still need a pair of gloves.

As long as you don't need customer service, you can try these gloves. I'm taking off one star for the tear, and two stars for the poor customer service.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: Runs small

After reading this boot runs small, I ordered a half size larger than my previous winter boots that I was replacing. The boot looked and felt like they were of very good quality, but even a half size large was too small. I tried wearing them around the house and walking the dog to see if they would break in and feel better, and they did, but that can't fix too small. I returned them for another full size larger, making the new ones a size and a half larger than normal.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size

This glove can almost be too warm when doing simple things like walking the dog or active use like snowshoeing or shoveling snow on a mild day.

They've kept me warm while snowmobiling into the low teens without liners. I wear a pair of liners with them when the temps get to zero or below.

The waterproofing has held up fine even while using my hands to dig in snow. No complaints!

AWESOME GLOVES

These gloves are awesome. They're a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. They fit and feel a lot like a pair of work gloves (mechanix, craftsman, etc.) and they're definately warm. The problem with many waterproof gloves is that they're bulky and you lose some dexterity with them on, so your constantly taking them on and off to do things with your hands. I was able to work all of the zippers, clips, buckles, and straps on my jackets and backpack with the gloves on.

To test the waterpoofness of the gloves I ran my right hand under the faucet in my kitchen sink. I focused the water on the seams on the palms and between the fingers, and my hand stayed dry. I walked my dog afterwards and my right hand didn't feel any colder than the left (dry) side. I'm including a picture of my second waterproofing test. I had to walk through ankle deep snow to get to the creek.

Did my usual weekday workout today wearing these as a base layer under a thin pair of hiking pants. Rode my bike 2 miles to the park where I jogged 1.5 miles, and biked 2 miles home. The temp was in the mid 40s. This kept me warm enough when I was starting out, but didn't overheat once I really got moving on the run. They fit snug but not confining even when moving a lot.

When I first goot these boots, I thought they were a little bit "snug." I took my dog out for a good long walk, and by the time I was done, "snug" felt more like "secure." I've worn these boots on lots of walks and hikes, and haven't had a blister yet. They are definately waterproof as advertised. In addition to small streams, light snow, puddles, and rain, my left foot got half a can of Pepsi, and not a drop has made it into my sock. I love these boots, and when they wear out, won't hesitate to get another pair.
