MacGivor's Bio

I have way too much gear!!! You might say I was a gear head before becoming a sales rep for a ski company. Its ridiculous how much gear my housemate (he works for Oakley) and myself have between the two of us....8 bicycles, 2 motorcycles, lets say in the neighborhood of 15 pairs of skis and 10 snowboards (this does not count the 100 or so pairs of skis and 50 snowboards sitting in my garage that are samples, pro-stock, demo skis, whatever...) Then we could go into sunglasses and goggles which is for sure in the hundreds. We really need to have a sale in the worst kind of way. Shit is falling all over me every day...

I love these pants. They fit true to size and I could spend 24 hours a day in them. The stretch is great and the gusseted crotch is incredibly comfortable. The only complaint I have is the Pewter color which looks like an awesome grey in the photo is actually some kind of green. Its more green then grey...beware. I wonder what the cargo green looks like.

I just used em once so far but I have had lots of different mtb shorts and these have all the features i like and my first impression is they are as good as anything i have owned before (Jett, Oakley, Pearl Izumi, Zoic,) . I am always looking for 2 front pockets for your cell phone and anything else you might want quickest access to and these feel secure even though there is no zipper (I don't want a zipper on those pockets anyway) . The shorts fit great. I rode them with the liner and they were really comfortable. I normally wear bibs underneath my shorts but I thought i would give the liner a try and the liner was good enough for a 2 hour+ ride. The chamois is a little thinner than than you will find in a nice pair of bibs but it still offered adequate comfort. The shorts feel lightweight and pretty breathable. The stretch fabric gives them a superior feel in fit. I also really like the velcro waist size adjustment. I am somewhere in the 30"-31" waist size. I tried a pair of Yeti shorts size small (30") and they were too small. Mediums are always end up too big on me once i have ridden them in. Anyhow, if you are anywhere near 31 or 30 these will fit you great . I suppose they will work for 29" waist too. Great shorts

I wanted to give everyone a little feedback on sizing. I think these run big. I wear a 42.5 in Shimano bike shoes and 42.5 in Giro bike shoes which are the only other shoes i own with EU sizing. Anyhow, i purchased a 43 and a 42 figuring i would probably need to choose between the two. It turns out that the 41.0 is my size. The 41 feels even a hair larger (if not the same) as my 9.5 Merrell Trail Glove. I literally just took the 41's out of the box so i haven't had a chance to run in them but i already like the way they feel around the house. They feel better than the Merrell and they look way better too. They are not anywhere near as light as the NB MT00 Minimus which is another shoe i purchased but returned because of the sizing. The MT00 Minimus also runs big. The size 10 was huge. I would probably need a 9. I might pick a pair of those up in the future but i am headed to Baja and they felt like they wouldn't protect well against cacti which i will surely encounter. But if you want something ultra light the NB MT00 is it.

ultimate shred stick

I have ridden the 163cm AK about 10 days and this board keeps surprising me with how amazing it is. Whats most surprising is how well it rides for big mountain and hard snow riding in addition to the amazing pow properties. I feel like I could race a boardercross it has such great edge control. I didn't expect this as all because of its odd camber profile appearance. It does all the things a good cambered board should do like hold an edge on ice and at the same time does what a good rockered board should do which is to say you can butter this thing and release the edge easily when you want. I rode it a couple of deep days at The Bird and it shreds pow like would expect. The elongated nose and so called Snake Campber allows the tip of the board to stay on top with little effort. I didn't have to lean back at all in the pow to keep the nose up. Its really fast in the pow and the sintered base held the wax good too. The board also rides switch pretty well. I don't do a ton of swithc riding but I wanted to test it out and rode it backwards quite a bit. It feels a little weird but I felt like i had lots of control on the groomers when riding switch.
