Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The boot as a whole is very good. Stable and will wear for ever except, the is a metal guide on the tongue that will tear apart shoe laces, no matter how careful you are. Mammut corrected the problem on newer boots being sold. The picture on backcountry is of the newer boot, but their inventory, is the previous style. When they get the new boot my rating shifts to a 5 star, for durability, comfort, and the lacing system. I traded the old model for the new model, and they changed the metal for a plastic part. I hiked the Colorado Trail with these and they were outstandin. Best fitting boot I have ever had. I hike 300-400 miles a year. Little heavy and warm for summer.

This is the second pair of these boots that I have had. I have a high arch and narrow feet. These boots fit better than any other pair that I have found. I just finished 100 miles on the Colorado trail with no blisters or problems, while all my hiking buddies did. The downside to these boots is the soles do not hold up very long. There is already wear on the soles. This occurred on my first pair also.
