Andrew Mark's Bio

Born and raised in Salt Lake City, I grew up hiking, backpacking, climbing, kayaing and generally romping about the woods. I took a four year stint in college in Tacoma, WA where I majored in Biology with minors in both Tomfoolery and Shenanigans (Ultimate Frisbee). I'm now back in Salt Lake, playing Ultimate and romping in the mountains whenever I get a chance.

Fit: True to size

I bought this hoodie recently for fall and winter, and I was not disappointed. Very warm and cozy. Has wrist gaiters as well, so it makes a great inner-layer under a waterproof outer, and the kangaroo pocket has zippers on either side so whatever you put in there won't fall out. Wish it had a slightly longer fit in the torso, but it is still longer than most standard hoodies. . True to size, I'm 6'0, 175lb and I wear a large.

I bought this hoodie recently for fall and winter, and I was not disappointed. I love the longer fit in the torso and how warm it is. It's got a nice big hood that can easily fit over caps/beanies. and the kangaroo pocket has zippers on either side so whatever you put in there won't fall out. I think the reinforced elbows are going to be great come spring snowboarding. True to size, I'm 6'0, 175lb and I wear a large.

I bought a pair of these as a gift for my mother a few weeks back. She wanted a pair of comfortable and supportive clogs to wear around the house during the fall and winter. I picked these up and she absolutely loves them. As with all Birkenstocks, they have great arch support and are incredibly durable. They fit comfortably with a pair of socks underneath. True to size.

Much like Pat said, this flannel is super comfortable, very trim, and looks great! I picked up the black one and have gotten several compliments on it. Thinking of buying a few more to keep myself warm throughout the winter. Fits true to size. I'm 6'0, 175lb and I wear a large.

I've gotten a number of compliments on this thing since I picked it up. Super comfortable, super stylish. Fits true to size, I wear a size 7 and a half and have plenty of room for adjustment, both up an down.
Brixton rocks, and so does this hat.

I've used this jacket on several backpacking trips this summer, both in the Wasatch and the Olympic Peninsula. I've been in everything from downpours to light rain, and this baby has kept me dry through it all. Super lightweight but durable construction paired with GoreTex Waterproofing? You can't go wrong. It breathes well (even better with pit zips open), but if you were doing something high intensity like touring or trail running, I'd suggest getting something with GoreTex Active Shell, for added breathability.

Fits true to size, I'm 6 feet tall, 180 lb and a large is great. Fits well with either an insulating layer underneath or just a shirt.

I've used this bag for several car camping ventures as well as airline travel. If you're at all concerned about adequate volume... don't be. This bag can haul. I've got a large and can easily fit more than a week's worth of clothing in it, or enough technical gear to get the job done. It's got some very beefy and durable zippers, as well as being very weather resistant (I don't say waterproof because if you dropped it in a river and didn't grab it right away, your stuff will probably get wet eventually.)

The backpack carry function can be a bit awkward as it tends to sag, but still very functional.

Just to reiterate other reviews here, the shirt is extremely soft (and remains soft after many washes) and I absolutely love the longer fit in the torso (I'm 6'0, 175 lb and I wear a large). Great for a casual, every day shirt. Keeps you comfy without looking scrubby.

For years, I've used Marmot exclusively for all of my down sleeping bags and jackets. Their consistent high quality, high loft and durable products are the reasons why, and this jacket is no exception.

I've taken this jacket on several backpacking trips and have not been disappointed in the least. Early evening, this jacket is all you need and when temperatures plummet at night, combine it with a good baselayer and hat and you're toasty warm. Not to mention it's extremely light weight, and stashes down into it's own pocket for packing. Oh, and it fits great underneath an outer shell or rain jacket.

Fits true to size. You won't be disappointed.

I've used this pack on several trips over the course of the summer. From weekend trips to 8 day getaways, this pack absolutely nails it. Super light yet incredibly durable construction, great volume, and comfort all combined into one. I was able to carry all of my personal gear, food, stove/pot, tent and additional gear necessary to lead trips for 6+ days without any issue.

As with any pack, fit is half the battle. If you're unsure how to properly fit and adjust your pack, I'd suggest taking it to a local retailer for some assistance or using a friend's guidance.

I am 6'0, 175lb, and the medium fit me just fine. Osprey's size chart is accurate.

I needed some shades in a pinch for an upcoming trip to Vegas. These inexpensive Spicolis were just the ticket. Super fashionable, comfortable and a great fit for medium/larger faces. The construction is also very durable; these bad boys are in it for the long haul.

I gave these boots to my girlfriend as a gift for an upcoming trip she was going on. They kept her feet comfortable and dry for the duration of the trip that included 10 mile days with elevation gain/loss. No blisters and no wet, achy feet. The ankle support is also great for those of us with less-than-bombproof ankles.

Fit true to size, and for the pricepoint they are awesome.

Osprey packs are my absolute favorite packs on the market. I gave this as a gift to a friend of mine who needed an awesome pack for short-medium length backpacking trips, and she is now an Osprey lover as well. Their packs are the most comfortable, super lightweight and incredibly durable with great utility. I plan on upgrading my old pack to the Aether this summer.

The sizing charts for all Osprey packs are accurate.

The I/O series from Smith are all in all some of the best goggles I've ever used - hence why I gave this pair as a gift! These goggles have some of the best fields of vision of any pair of goggles I've ever used and the lens swaps out super quickly and easily.

Of course, with all the different color schemes available, you won't need to sacrifice swag for function. Need a sweet pair of goggles? Look no further than the I/O line.

These gloves are great for a day or night out, when you need something to keep you warm when you get in your cold car before or after work. Or if you're walking the dog, etc. Very warm and completely windproof and water resistant, these are a great glove for day to day activities. If you're looking for something to shovel snow, or do any sort of winter activity (skiing, boarding, etc) - definitely get something heavier duty.

The added grip on the palm and fingers of the gloves is great as well.

Definitely worth printing out the size guide that North Face supplies to pick the correct size!

What is there to say? If you want a beanie, look no further than Discrete. Awesome company with awesome products. This one fits a bit looser so if you have a larger head or just like that look, this is a great option.

Everything that I own from Discrete is warm and comfortable, so you can't go wrong.

Fit: Runs small

I bought this jacket for my girlfriend as a present. She's just getting into camping/backpacking - and wanted something serviceable that wouldn't break the bank. This jacket is just the ticket. Keeps her dry and isn't heavy or bulky.

The torso runs a bit on the short side, but not by much. If you're planning on layering, I'd advise sizing up. Or buying two and trying them on for fit.

I picked this flannel up for this coming winter and fall, and it's awesome. It's nice and warm, as well as very comfortable. The colors are great and I love the slimmer fit in the torso than most other flannels. I'm 6'0, 180lb and the large is excellent. I'm considering picking up another in a different color - the price is great and the product is even better.
