Amanda's Bio

I have narrow feet. I am on a never ending quest for the perfect boot, or a boot perfect enough. I love skiing.

Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: True to size

these shoes are great and so amazingly comfortable. I bought them as sneakers to change in to when i get to work. they are probably the most comfortable shoes I have ever had.
I have really narrow feet and these are great, although I never have problems finding sneakers narrow enough, thats mainly my problem with hiking shoes, sandals, and ski boots.
Runs true to size, maybe a little on the snug size. I usually wear and 8, but sometimes I wear a 7.5. the 7.5 was too small, but the 8 fit perfectly.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I haven't used this yet, but I received it today and I would like to say that the orange is better looking and brighter than the picture. The picture makes it look like the color of a plant pot, but in reality, it is bright and much better looking.

Fit: True to size

I got these shoes for my brother. He wears a 13 and has trouble finding his size in the stores, let alone a shoe that fits him right when he does find his size. He says these are the best, most comfortable, shoes he has ever had. He has worn them at music festivals. Normally his feet would get tired by the end of the night, but not with these. They have great grip in the mud, and mud didn't even get in. He wears them everyday for everything. He has narrow feet and these are a little roomy on him widthwise, but not too roomy. They would also work for someone with somewhat wide feet.

Have they updated this so that Motorola smartphones can charge from the battery pack? I got it last year and my droid 4 and my brother's droid bionic do not charge from the battery pack and all my friends phones by other brands did. They said they were working on a fix but I haven't heard anything yet.

These are very easy to strap into and out of. I loved how you only needed to strap one strap. I'm not very flexible, so the toe strap is always harder for me to reach. The toe strap on these held very well. I also really like the 3 degree cant.
These bindings are very soft. If you like a soft binding, these are great. Unfortunately, they were too soft for me, especially when combined with my soft boots, but those boots are the only boots I could find that fit my narrow feet. I'd love this binding if they weren't so soft. I would give these 5 stars if they weren't so soft. I'm gonna get either a pair of Gnus or the stiffer mens auto binding, if I can find a pair small enough my size 6.5 boots.

Pros: Looks cool (I got the blue one) and I get a lot of compliments on it because it looks cool.
My 16" laptop fits in it, but I don't take that skiing with me
Good size bag if you don't want something bulky.
Easy to carry skis, poles, and boards. Comfortable to wear.

Cons: I mainly got this bag so I would have water while skiing. The Hydration tube froze within 2 hours at Stratton in February. I started skiing around 9:30 and it was frozen before noon. It was sunny and in the mid 20s on that day. I kept it zipped in the strap the whole time.

The goggle pocket won't fit any of my goggles. It's too small for Oakley A frames, Crowbars, in addition to my smaller Spys and Dragons.

The inside mesh pocket interferes with the "goggle" pocket. If you have things in both of the pockets, it looks bulky and affects what you can fit in the main compartment. I also wouldn't recommend putting your goggles in the goggle pocket (if you can fit them in) if you're carrying skis, since the skis will damage the goggles, and you also can't have much in those pockets if you are carrying skis.

The side pockets on the belt unzip very easily so I haven't been able to use them for anything. The video advertises these pockets as camera pockets...wouldn't recommend that.

A few questions.
Magne-traction put aside, how is the C2 BTX shape on (east coast) ice?

Why does a $560 board have an extruded base?

I know it says it has a flex of 5/10, but that varies between manufacturers.
I'm a progressing intermediate looking for a medium flexing board on the softer side of medium. If I get this, I would get the 148cm.

I just started carving and going off of jumps at the end of last season.

I am 5'5" and weigh about 130-140lbs with equipment.

The other board I am looking at is the Rossi Diva because I liked the amptek shape when I rode it one day last season, but it was a powder day so it was not typical conditions for where I ride. I also liked the amptek shape of the Rossi Tesla.

Does anyone know about both of these boards and can provide feedback of which is a smarter purchase, regardless of price?

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE
THESE ARE MY BOOTS.
I might have finally found the perfect ones.
I was thinking about starting my review like that as I was walking into the shop this morning after skiing in them.
Nice and narrow just how I like it. The 97mm last is great. The volume isn't too high like in Tecnicas (more volume up and down, even with a 98mm last width). I skied in them for an hour this morning before work and they were great. I wish I could have skied longer. I was on the first chair after ski patrol so the snow was great. These are nice and narrow and can be easily made wider to accommodate sixth toe and bunion and other foot abnormalities by a boot fitter. I would have liked if the liner was a little thicker on the top of the toe area. I had a little extra room there I measure about 24.5mp/7.5 US and I wear an 8 sneaker. these are perfect in length in 23.5 for me, but downsizing on the shell always fits me better than what I measure.
I have my alines in them right now, but I will get customs after the holiday week. then they will be even better.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE

this isnt a question or a review, but i wanted to mention it here. I saw that it says that this boot has a 98mm last width. This boot fits kids with wide feet better than other boots. When kids say that the rossi radical boot is too tight, i put them in this boot of the same size and they love it.
It also fits kids who don't have wide feet.

it was cold today. these boots kept my feet warm. so warm. bordering hot (in a good way, this wont make people whose feet run hot get hot and uncomfortable). it was very nice and my feet were very happy and warm. I just need to work on getting a better ankle hold. this boot had the best ankle hold of all the boots i tried on. I have narrow feet. narrow all around. this isnt a narrow boot. id say this is a medium width boot but can also accommodate wide feet. I wear a size 8 sneaker. I got these in a 7 knowing that the bigger size would be too big. before heat molding my toes were hurting when i didnt bend my knees. they were perfect lengthwise after heat molding. i also didnt ride them until after i heat molded them.

MY FEET HAVE FEET!

the color is Prom.
Since the pair consists of two different socks, I figured it is a good idea for people to see this because it makes the socks even more awesome. Tux with matching dress. The dress sock has a pearl necklace and a bow in the back.

update:
i wear these for snowboarding and I love them, I ride thirtytwo focus boa boots. they are nice and warm. my feet are happy in these socks

I will update this review once I ski in them. Update is below. I didn't change anything I originally wrote except for the rating.

Got these yesterday. Looked at them. Wondered "Will I get my feet in these?" Put my feet in them. Got them in EASILY. They are actually narrow enough for me! I haven't been able to find boots narrow enough and tall enough in height. I normally wear an 8 sneaker. I measure between 24.5-25. I ordered these in a size 23 because that is what happens to fit my feet since everyone's feet are different. The Salomon Poisons fit great lengthwise in a size 23, but are too short, heightwise in the shin. I really notice this when skiing. I guess my legs are built for a size 24. The Soul Sister fit great lengthwise AND Heightwise in the shin.

The liner is amazing. I love High Density foam. I will heat mold these before skiing. I want to get my heel in there better and my toes a little more comfy. They feel a little short in the toe at first, but not when I bend my knees forward. They have a good shell fit, I would say between race fit and comfort fit (in my poisons I had less room than a race fit and they were fine in length). The liner is thicker than most boots I have used, especially in the heel/ankle area. I like this because it uses 7mm of high density Intuition foam, which is the difference between the Pro and Performer liner. The Performer liner in the boots with the influence shell use 7mm of medium density foam instead.
I would recommend this boot to women with narrow to medium width feet, but not quite wide feet. Wide footed women might have to go with the Mary Jane. They might fit wide feet after heat molding. They will probably feet too tight to a medium width foot before heat molding, but after heat molding they should be fine. Note to medium width footed women: They will feel too tight at first, but heat mold and they will be the best boot ever. With and intuition liner, anything is possible.

UPDATE:
ow, ow ow ow. ow. ow ow. ow.
pain. pain pain. like bread in french. le pain.
i cant ski in these, too much pain. my whole feet. without my alines, the sides dig in to my ankles. with them, the part of my feet that arent my ankles are in pain. they feel weird. i didnt have them too tight or too loose and i did heat mold them and still pain pain pain.
i did a total of about six runs in this boot on three different days on three different skis. i dont feel my foot moving in side but it feels like it is moving in a way. it doesnt hold my heels well.

this boot is probably great for people without foot problems, or if their only problem is shin bang. i have never experienced shin bang. it must be for people who have shinbang in even the best fitting 4 buckle boot. so many people love this boot but i guess it isn't for me and my racing style.

I started using this sock last year when I discovered there was a sock with padding in the heel, but ultralight in the rest of the foot. Before that, I was using the Smartwool PhD Ultralight, which doesnt have any padding and is what I would recommend in a new boot.
I would also recommend this Ski Racer sock in a new boot if you have narrow feet like me.
The smallest amount of sock possible will keep the feet the warmest by wicking away as much moisture as possible.
The heel padding held my narrow feet in the boot better. It also has shin padding which I could care less about, but some people need a sock with shin cushion and no padding in the foot. It is a good combination of padding without adding thickness anywhere else in the sock and not having to produce two different socks.
For this season, I got another pair, the Loden color.
I also love that I can hand wash these socks and they dry fast since I don't have a washer/dryer.
When I get my Full Tilt Soul Sisters, I plan on wearing my Ultralights for heat molding and the first few days of skiing, then switching to this sock.
Smartwool is the only wool that I can wear.
I would recommend this sock to everyone except those who are allergic to wool.
