Alyssa's Bio

I spent the first 22 years of my life in Maine indulging in all the beauty and activities the pine tree state has to offer. The lure of the big mountains brought me westward and a place with Backcountry.com in December 2009 as a phone gearhead. I am now an Assistant Supervisor here at Backcountry.com and love it. Skiing is my passion and I'm out on the hill as much as possible. I'm also taking advantage of the fly fishing, hiking, road biking, and other misc activities Utah has to offer! I hope you all are living the dream and getting outside with other life loving people, I know I am!

Perfect Day Sling!
5 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this sling. I have used both hip-pack and backpacks and I find a sling to be the most accessible and convenient option.

I have heard mixed reviews from fishing buddies about this sling. Some love it, others find it didn't fit quite right. Please note, you do have to dial in the straps to get a perfect fit. The sling is a bit stiff at first and may feel awkward, but I promise after a couple days on the water, it will feel great. I am 5'2" and did have to cut the straps to shorten them since there was so much excess. My buddy who is 6'5" borrowed it and it worked great for him.

This thing has the perfect amount of pockets and the main compartment can hold a lot of stuff. I really love that the front pocket has a fly keeper, it's great to throw flies on there and let them dry out before throwing them back into boxes.

I know I like to have a few drinks on the river. This thing can easily hold a few cans and the exterior drink pocked can hold a 32 oz Nalgene. There is a small pocket on the main sling strap that fits an iphone and has places to attach accessories. So much room for accessories on this bad boy!

Overall, this is a great sling for a day on the water. You can fit all your boxes and more inside and it sits well on your shoulder. Highly recommended!

My pup is still young and tends to get a bit ADD while fetching. Fortunately for me, this toy held her attention! I have yet to use it in the water, but so far on land she loves it! the design makes it easy for her to carry it in her mouth. The long rope makes it easy to huck this thing quite the distance. She has access to all of her toys at home and this thing has held up to some light chewing. All in all, a must have for your pup. I will update review once I get this in the water, but I expect her to love it!

Fit: True to size

I snagged some info from another site that describes this dress perfectly!
Soft woven crinkle gauze creates a sweet maxi dress that drapes beautifully. - It's true, this material on this is really flattering and comfy!
-Regular fit with a strapless bodice that's smocked for a snug fit - I went a size down due to my height but if you are taller/bigger busted go true to size. The bodice is stretchy so it will most likely fit you perfect!
-Pleating at the waist allows the skirt to billow and sway.
High-low hemline.
Metal logo hit at back.
The dress has a cotton lining so you don't have to worry about seeing through the material.

Beautiful dress! Recommended

Water Dog Approved!

Great Collar! I love that this is on the thin side. I am not a fan of thicker plastic style collars due to how they sit on my pup and they don?t look as comfy. The weight on this means its quick dry as well. I am a fan of the features that Ruffwear included. There is an big easy to clip leash ring and a smaller streamline tag tab with a no-jingle tag. Buckle is big which means it?s easy to clip on and off. The sizing on this collarhas a huge range! I bought the large for my pup so she could grow into it, she is almost 6 months old and 40lbs and it shrinks down enough to fit her neck. The berry color isn?t overly pink, but still is ladylike so she is no longer confused for a dude. Overall, all you need in a collar and recommended for any dog owner!

I'm a big fan of stretchy boddice top and flowy bottomed dresses. This dress does it! It is stretchy in the back so its can fit a variety of shapes and cup sizes. As stated below, if you are larger chested, it may not work for you since the chest part of this dress does not stretch. I bought the small and am a 34 B, 5'2". Great length, material is comfy and patters are cute!

All I can ski in now!

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size

I had ACL reconstructive surgery in March of 2013 due to a skiing accident and was pumped to get back on the hill this '13/'14 season. I made the decision to get a knee brace to protect my new ACL and had the hardest time finding tights that would fit with the brace. I love merino, but due to the wool fibers and overall texture the brace fit horribly and also irritated my skin. I had heard good things about CWX so decided to try out these tights. THEY ARE A GAME CHANGER. Not only does my brace stay on 100%, these things are as supportive as everyone says. They increase circulation, are breathable, are damn comfortable and do not irritate my skin. If you are in unsure of sizing, I recommend going by height. The way the supportive webbing is structured means that you will get the most benefit by going by your leg length. I am 5'2" and went with the small. Be warned, these will be tight like a tiger, but thats what you want in compression tights!

All you need in a rear light. Does its job and does it well. Stays on the bike and has multiple settings. Easy to change the battery. This has a 2nd job of a dog indicator light. I use it on my pup while camping to see where she is at night.

Bought my mom a couple of these for mothers day and she loves them! She says they are "the perfect length for yoga" and "are really comfortable" Moms only deserve the best and you will not be let down if you purchase these.

I purchased these for my mom for mothers day. She loves them! She is not into really big/dangly earrings, and the w.anchor was a perfect size for her. My brother is currently at a Maine Maritime Academy, so anything having to do with the ocean she loves. Buy a pair for your mom, sister, ladyfriend, or yourself! I may have to pickup the lobster pair : )

I bought the watersport version to nurture my roughed up fishing hands back to health. This stuff is amazing! After a day on the water my hands dry out and I am constantly getting small cuts from branches, hooks, etc. I apply this stuff right out of the water and my hands are rejuvenated. Two of my desperately dry handed fish buddies were apprehensive to accepting "hand lotion" from a girl, but they were stoked after using this stuff and replied. "This stuff actually smells awesome!" Highly recommended for everyone!

This is my 2nd pair of Saucony Mirage running shoes and I am pumped that they are just as awesome, if not better than the last! These are a great running/ gym shoe that are all you need if you are all about jogging around town or getting sweaty at your local gym. I have a bit wider last and these fit great. They are supportive and durable. Highly recommended shoe that wont break the bank!

These are all you need when throwing a bounce rig or dropper setup. Please be advised, the ones we have in stock are glow in the dark! That means, they will arrive clear and not in multiple colorways. They still are awesome and do the job. I use the medium for everything from mellow runs to more aggressive water.

RAD-TASTIC!
5 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It didn?t dawn on me to every try a tech binding setup. I had used the Marker Barron and Tyrolia Adrenaline and figured those were all you needed for a good day in the Backcountry. My buddy then broke it down for me. ?Alyssa, think about how much extra weight you have to move uphill with a heavier binding. Multiply the binding weight times the amount of steps you will take, see how your energy will be on longer tours? Hmm?that got me thinking and If I wanted to take my AT game up a notch, would have to consider a more technical and lightweight binding.
This brings me to where I am today writing this review. I have zero regrets on purchasing TLT Radical bindings. They have done nothing but amazing things for my way up and down the mountain. They are substantially ligher than my prior setup, 6lbs to be exact. The heel lift feature is easy to adjust with just the flick of a pole. Struggle free transition from tour to downhill mode (very easy to swap with skis attached) These things are durable and stay on your feet even with some aggressive skiing. Ripped around snowbird on these and have taken some mellow falls and they have held strong. Highly recommended bindings if you are looking for a techy AT setup!

These were everything I needed for my Yurt trip in the Pioneer mountains in late march. A 5 mile tour into off the grid powder heaven!
