Ahren's Bio

I'm a Southern gal who fell in love with the mountains and has been trapped out west by their magnificence. If I'm not working away at Backcountry.com, I am playing in the water in my canoe or a kayak, hiking in the Wasatch or Uintahs, riding at the Bird, shopping at the Farmer's Market or out enjoying live music.

This dress is hideous. I really liked the print and pictures online but once in my hands, I was disappointed. I am 5'2", 120 lbs. and the size small looked like a tent, to the point where I don't even want to try an XS. Plus the dress had non-removable shoulder pads. Pretty sure that style left in the 90's.

CamelBak Skeeter Hydration Pack - Kids'
5 5

I purchased 2 packs for my niece and nephew and they love them! They want to hike just so they can wear their packs. The kids stay well hydrated on the trail because they get excited drinking from the tube. The packs are small but great for 5 and under. There are no outside pockets so you'll have to carry snacks for them.

I used to work in the food industry as a server and bartender and these were the perfect shoes to handle being on my feet all night. They are extremely comfortable and durable and the traction is great for the kitchen. Now that I need to wear them to work, I still do. I also love to wear them for gardening.

This is THE sandal to own for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you are hiking, swimming, fishing or rafting, the Z/2 will offer you plenty of support and comfort. This is my 2nd pair and my first pair lasted through 5 summers of intense use. I prefer the toe loop for hiking but for all around town use, it's not necessary.

Sanuk makes the most comfortable shoe/sandal. They fit snug on my feet so I can barely tell I am wearing shoes. The support is good for such a lightweight shoe. I have wide feet and ordered my usual size and they fit perfect. The canvas helps stretch to your foot size. Only complaint: they tend to stink after a few wears so you have to wash them often.

This is the most comfortable article clothing for trail running, hands down! The shorts under fit very snug for comfort and the skirt keeps people from seeing just how tight your shorts really are. It's nice to actually feel feminine on the trail! The side pocket is perfect for keys and your ID and there is even a pocket on the bum for tennis balls. Size down for the best fit. I am a size 6 and ordered a S but ordered my 2nd pair in XS and they fit great.

This jumper is absolutely adorable but teeny-tine. I wear a Small in most tops and Medium in bottoms and the Medium was too small for me. It did, however, work as a great gift for a girlfriend who is 5'2" and 90 lbs (the medium was perfect on her.) The material is light and flowy to keep you cool on hot summer days.

I own three pairs of these pants and practically live in them. The bamboo fabric is soft, flexible and seems to hold up to quite a bit of wear. If you are looking for pants that you can lounge in, do yoga in, run in and road trip in, these are definitely for you. I am a women's size 7 and I bought the small and they are perfect.

The Copper Spur is an extremely lightweight and roomy tent. I used it for car camping and we were able to fit a full air mattress, two people and our gear with plenty of room. For backpacking, this could easily fit three people. The vestibules offer plenty of space for gear. The set up is completely painless. I have yet to use the tent without the fly (which is also foolproof to put on) but I am sure it will be a great summer tent to view the stars in.

I purchased these gloves on a whim, thinking they could be a back up glove in my car and now they are my go-to for everything. I wear them skiing, walking, driving, shopping, you name it. They fit snug so I still feel dexterous. The only reason they are receiving 4 starts is because the sticky goats on the inside are already peeling off after owning them for a month.

This jacket is all fashion and a bit functional. It fits great and looks great on and off of the mountain. It has saved me from the elements but isn't as warm as some 3-in-1 jackets. I do wear an additional 1-2 layers, depending on the temps. The liner jacket fits nice and is a cute piece on its own. I prefer to wear the liner not snapped into the shell because it is almost impossible to take off and on when they are hooked together. The hood is big enough to fit over a helmet and rolls up for when you need it out of the way.

This sweater is one of the best constructed of its kind. Definitely competes with other jackets I have owned that are from other, more known brands. The fit is very feminine and the "puff" is not existent, especially for an 800-fill. I purchased it as a layering piece for under my hard shell (keeps me extremely toasty) but now find myself wearing it around town, too. It is absolutely one of the most practical, versatile and fashionable pieces I own.

This thermos is magic. I can make tea first thing in the morning and it is still piping hot mid afternoon. I bought one for my friend who works outside all winter and he says the guys on the job site are always jealous of his hot coffee come lunch time. I haven't had any problems with leaking, either. This is a must have for cold winters.
