Still deciding...
4 5

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I just received my MJ's and was a little surprised to find that they don't look like the picture... They're still cute, but girlier than I would choose. The black canvas actually has a floral print on it. I know it says the color is black/flower print, but I thought that described the insole design. If you look really hard in the zoomed picture you can just barely see some of the design (it looks like smudges), but it's much stronger than that. Also, what looks to be red stitching is a very bold fuschia. I'm posting a picture that shows the shoes a little better, though it's from a terrible camera on my phone.

Like I said... these aren't deal breakers... but I'm a plain Jane and it's a little much for me. I'm still deciding if I'll keep them. Just thought I'd let those considering them know ahead of time, as this is the first review.

Everything else seems excellent... which is why I choose KEEN.

These are great shoes as are all of the salomons that I have owned. Used them for all sorts of running and hiking and for just about every other need. The only problem I had with them is the lacing system broke on my pair. If it were not for that they'd be close to perfect shoes for me.

This stove is great... just used it on a several day backpacking trip at 12k feet and above and it worked flawlessly!! Temps were lower upper teens to upper 20's and still no problem. Also, very fuel effecient. My buddy had a jetboil and had to use his second canister and he hardly had any control over the flame... my primus could turn way down to a simmer or all the way up to boil water in minutes! Very packable as well! I know some people thought it was loud... but that's only if you turn it on full blast and noise really isn't an issue for as little time as you need to run it.

I've had other 5.10s and these are awesome just the same. They sized up the same as my other 5.10 shoes. I'm pretty hard on shoes as I like so smear a lot so I wear the toes but they seem to be holding up quite well. The rubber took a few climbs to break in for full traction but once they did they have amazing grip on just about any rock! I love em and will probalby keep a pair of them around no matter what other shoes I get.

These boots are definitely amazing. Yesterday, I hiked Crestone Peak (one of the hardest 14ers in CO) in them without having broken them in first (hadn't worn them at all) and it was 10 miles and over 5000 feet of steep vertical gain and didn't even get a hot spot let alone a blister! Super comfortable and totally waterproof after hiking though lots of snow and water. The traction also is excellent in any condition so I didn't even have a second thought about my foot staying firm through some sketchy climbing! I don't think my feet have ever been so comfortable! My hiking buddy had a very different story in his Merrells. His feet were totally soaked and had huge blisters. He also couldn't get anywhere near the same traction. Now here's the real difference that speaks for itself. At the end of the day when we got back to our vehicle my buddy had to change out of his hiking boots, back into "comfy boots" as for me I already had mine on.
