Adjust your potential.

Success in T2 depends on the harmony among power, aerodynamics, and comfort. And given that the aforementioned is largely hinged on your frontal body position, we find it remarkable that most TT bars only provide parts of the equation, not its entirety. However, this isn't the case with the new Profile Design Aeria Wing TT Bar. Winner of 220 Triathlon's 'Best in Test,' the Aeria combines a full-carbon fiber construction with six points of adjustment in order to provide you with the full recipe for efficiency.

Starting at the Aeria's wing, we find that Profile Design incorporated a high modulus carbon fiber. This construction lends itself to a heightened level of rigidity, but just as importantly, the material allowed Profile Design to create a shape with a low aerodynamic profile. As a result, the bar sees a series of tapered points, first from the center to the shoulder, and then from the brake caliper to the shoulder. Through this design, Profile essentially created corresponding airfoil designs that cut through the air while you're on the extension bars. Furthering this minimal drag profile, the wing is designed for internal cable routing -- even for contemporary Shimano Di2 systems. In terms of measurement, the Aeria's wing features a 42cm width from center-to-center. And, thankfully, it's compliant with the UCI's 3:1 rule. So, in other words, the Aeria is competition-ready, not something novel to hang on the wall.

Moving upwards, Profile Design has mounted the extension bars to the wing via a patent-pending system of integrated 6061-T6 aluminum brackets. This system simultaneously clamps the extensions while also attaching the brackets to the wing. Even better, the system is slighter in profile than past designs, and as a result, the Aeria's drag profile is further minimized. Additionally, these brackets are shielded from the elements, meaning that weather-induced corrosion is now a thing of the past.

As for the extensions themselves, Profile Designed these T2+ bars with 0mm of drop and a unidirectional carbon fiber composition. Why uni-directional? Well, compared to a woven carbon fabric, uni-directional carbon is oriented as it sounds, with one direction, or on one axis. And while this makes the production process incredibly more complicated in regards to load path and force direction determination, the payout is worth it to Profile. You see, compared to woven layups, uni-directional fibers provide higher levels of rigidity, while also improving the characteristic of vibration dampening. And incredibly, this is achieved at a much lower overall weight.

In terms of adjustability, Profile incorporated stackable risers from the wing to the extensions. This way, you're able to fine-tune your position over the bars -- higher for comfort and power, or lower for decreased drag. And when you factor in how much season-long flexibility gains affect your TT position, this becomes especially useful. Furthering this sense of adjustability, the included carbon fiber F25 armrests have an adjustable width from 155-203mm.

The Profile Design Aeria Wing TT Bar is available in the color Black and in a 42cm width (center-to-center). Please note that this bar is only compatible with 31.8mm clamp diameter stems, and that it has a claimed weight of 663 grams.
