Whether you're learning a McTwist or negotiating the bunny slope, pushing your snowboarding skills to the next level shouldn't mean not being able to sit down for a week. The low-profile Protec Men's IPS Hip Pads provide extra protection, without announcing it to the world. You'll barely notice this stretch-fit, slim, protective short—until you catch a heelside edge or land on your butt from ten feet up. Protec made the IPS Hip Pads out of a breathable, stretchy nylon fabric for all day comfort and strategically placed them over the tail bone and hips for protection.

Bottom Line: Protect your asset while wearing the Protec IPS Hip Pads.

safe and warm

The Pro Tech hip pads keep me warm and protected from rocks or hard snow. They provide a great cushion for riding chairs on snowy days and protect the bum from the classic tele butt check. I sowed a back brace onto them for the ultimate set up.

32" is not large, duh

By:

If you buy a large when you have a 32 inch waist, you deserve to get incorrectly sized shorts.

if you like your tailbone, don't buy these

I figured for $50 I might as well not be sore from falling on my butt the next day. First day wearing them I only fell once and it was at a standstill just before heading down. Some random girl knocked into my board and I fell flat on my butt. The pads did absolutely nothing. When I got home I checked them out more carefully than before I had bought them. The foam is super low-density (easy to squish) and did absolutely nothing for me. Now I'm out $50 and I'm stuck on the couch cause my butt hurts too much to ride :(

Terrible

These pads offer very little protection--the foam is super soft and there are no hard plates. I broke my tailbone wearing these on not even that bad of a fall; they are warm and comfy but that's about it.

These things rock.

I bought a pair of these for this season because I'm getting bored of free-riding and have been finally stepping it up and going to the park (and also can't afford health insurance at my work). It was definitely a good purchase. To prospective buyers: They are very comfortable, can hardly notice them while riding. The waist band isn't as stretchy as a normal pair of compression shorts, so take that into consideration. They're snug when you pull them over your hips, but feel great when you get them where they need to be. They do their job pretty well too, but you can still feel it when you take a hard slam straight on. And they do have a pee hole so you don't have to pull everything down to go. Overall review: Definitely worth what I paid for them. Adds a huge amount of confidence!

Worth triple the money...

These were holiday gifts for my two daredevil boarder sons. They have both told me these have literally saved their *ss countless times already. I don't know if that is a good thing because now they will try even sicker tricks.

Not impressed ...

By:

Padding was not as thick and hard as I originally expected. It is especially thin in the tail bone area, where you would think it would be thicker.

I bought a large because I have a 32-in waist, and there is a ton of extra room. I wish I would have gotten the medium.

The pads do offer some protection from average falls, but if you bite it hard they aren't going to cut it.

I would not recommend these pads to a friend. I would seek another manufacturer.

SAVED MY ASS

By:

I love these hip pads and recommend them to all of my friends. I board on an active volcano, Mt. Etna in Sicily, with exposed lava rock on the runs. These pads have saved my ass more than once.
