    A real fixer upper.

Flipping your bike upside down and working on it from your knees will let you get the job done, but being able to throw your ride in the PRO Repair Stand will make things about 1,000 times easier. This folding stand has a strong clamp that securely grasps the seatposts of even the heaviest downhill rigs and pivots to provide access to all the hard-to-reach nooks and crannies, along with a telescoping construction that lets you adjust your working height. It also includes a tool plate that attaches to the stand so you can keep your hexes and lube handy, and a carrier bag that lets you tote it from the garage to the pit without breaking a sweat.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this stand less than a month ago when it was on steep and cheap. My wife used it just fine for her small road bike, but the minute I tried to use it for my 29 hardtail the entire stand broke. If you are persuaded by "the heaviest downhill rigs" as a sign of robustness - beware! The flimsy screw-and-lug nut setup for the "strong" seat clamp completely broke the second time I tried to use it - even with the front tire of my bike on the ground to help support the weight. Even then the entire stand would creak and groan under the stress of half a bike.
This stand was my big bike treat for the summer and now I wish I waited a few more months and bought the stand I really wanted instead of starting back at zero. This is the first internet review I have ever felt compelled to write, so please heed my advice when I say with all sincerity - spend the extra 50 bucks and get one that works. The one star rating is generous, because I have rarely felt that my money was so beautifully wasted.
