Guys named Fred are always the peace-keeping type.

Princeton Tec's Fuel headlamp has been a staple in the headlamp world for years. The Fred takes the Fuel to the next level by replacing one of the white LED's with a more camp-friendly red LED, so you don't get in another fist fight this summer because you blinded a fellow camper.

Bright Headlamp for the $

This Headlamp is half the price of my $65 Petzl Headlamp, an ounce lighter and twice as bright!

From the lab: PTec - FRED Headlamp

FRED puts out 45 lumens in a flood beam via three Ultrabright LEDs. The fourth LED, a red Ultrabright, helps you keep a low profile and preserve your night adjusted vision. The FRED headlamp is stable with its asymmetrical single arm bracket; the large power button is easy to find even while wearing gloves. FRED runs for up to 145 hours in white mode and 180 hours in red mode on three AAA batteries.

Crash Course in Making Lights

PTEC designs, engineers, manufactures and assembles our own products at our facilities in the great state of New Jersey, USA. The technology and products have evolved since we started in 1975. This is what the process looks like today.
After we made this video, it became that much more apparent that it takes a ton of energy, knowledge and skill to do what we do. What we do requires a fast pace and rapid mind. Hold on tight while this video takes you inside the brain of PTEC HQ.
