I do love this lamp - it's so bright that my nighttime hiking in the mountains had never been so much fun before this! :) However the batteries do not last nearly 100 hours, but then again I always use the maxbright high setting and by the time the indicator light goes red, I recharge my batteries. So it could be just me. :) All being said though, I still believe this the coolest light out there as the batteries are not "weighing" on my head and in my pocket or clipped on my belt or in my pack, I don't feel any weight at all.

What a powerful source of light. Very comfortable on the head due to the batteries being contained in the remote pack. Have used for night time mountain biking, trail running, and mountaineering. Very happy with this product. Can't wait to try with lithium batteries.

PTEC designs, engineers, manufactures and assembles our own products at our facilities in the great state of New Jersey, USA. The technology and products have evolved since we started in 1975. This is what the process looks like today.
After we made this video, it became that much more apparent that it takes a ton of energy, knowledge and skill to do what we do. What we do requires a fast pace and rapid mind. Hold on tight while this video takes you inside the brain of PTEC HQ.

This lamp is remarkably bright. I love this thing, use it for so many activities, running, biking, hiking, climbing, camping, operating, you name it. And the batteries last a really long time, much longer than you'd expect especially on low light levels. For me it's perfect as there are plentiful AA batteries lying around at work. So when you need a veritable blow torch on your dome for extended duration and you don't mind the drag of the added battery pack this is it.

Can someone clear this up for me?...Above its says "Regulated bulb voltage maintains a steady 108-meter spotlight for up to 2.5 hours" and to the right its says "Burn Time (maxbright high) 100 hour". What are the two referring to? 2.5 hours seems close to the time on a set of batteries but I have a prinstontec apex with the same LED setup that uses 4 AAs and gets about 3 hours burn on maxbright-high on a set of 4 and this item uses 8 batteries. I'd think the burn time would be around 4-5 hours.

Ahem. this thing is bright. like really bright.. the dimmest setting on this is still nearly as bright as any previous or current other headlamp I have. Of course, I have to deal with lugging around that cute battery belt and try to explain to strangers that that is not a cell phone clip but a batter pack. A worthy expense though. I've done night hiking, used it for some night photography, explored caves and cannot wait to see how it does bombing some trees up at Brighton next season for some night boarding.

This thing has guided alot of people down off Halfdome trail after they've gotten caught on the trail after dark. Also use this at least a 1000hrs a year inspecting damaged buildings.
