Primus designed the TiLite Stove for those whose middle name is “compact.” This light little stove and a fuel canister fit inside the titanium cooking pot that comes with it. So throw the whole shebang inside your pack, in one tidy little package.

  • Fuel canister + stove + pot total 7 ounces altogether, so you can pack lighter than ever
  • Piezoelectric lighting makes the stove simple to start up
  • Use on summer trips above 41 degrees Farenheit (5 degrees Celcius) for optimal function
  • Heating efficiency far above the norm helps you conserve and carry less fuel

Bottom Line: Sha-BANG.

Great backbacking stove

By:

Got this on SAC for $80 and I well worth the value. Have used this stove down to around 30 degrees at 8500' with no problems. The piezo igniter works very well, and I seem to get a great deal of use out of the smaller canisters. Did not come with a windscreen, so I jerry-rigged one from the MSR generic windscreen. (be sure to rig it to deflect heat AWAY from the canister, or you might blow yourself up)It held up in 50 MPH gusts near Red Rocks. This stove is very small, and somewhat unstable with a 1L pot on it. This is minimalist stove, and probably inappropriate if cooking for more than a couple people.

Bottom line: if you are looking for a very light stove, this one works well.

The Primus TiLite Stove uses ALL Lindal valve (screw-on) type, compressed gas, fuel canisters made by @ least nine manufacturers including Brunton, Coleman, Jetboil, Kovea, Markill, MSR, Optimus, Primus, Snow Peak, etc. These canisters can be found in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, western Europe, Japan, & Korea. This stove does not use a propane tank & no special fitting is required.

Not with one of those green propane bottles. Runs on a mixture of butane, isobutane and propane. There is no line or hose, just directly screws into the top of a canister that uses a Lindal valve, like the ones found on MSR, Brunton, Snow Peak or Primus.

there's a difference between "cheap" and "light"

By:

I have an old primus stove, and I love it, so I thought this would be a nice upgrade. I didn't even use it. While the stove seemed okay, the mug/pot feels like it will break apart. I have some snowpeak titanium pots, and there is a huge difference between the feel of those and this. "light" shouldn't mean "poorly constructed and fragile" I didn't trust it to survive a trip, so I returned it. Maybe over cautious, but it seemed like junk, and I bought it from SAC so I couldn't return it if it DID break. If you buy it, get it from backcountry because their warranty is phenomenal!

Honestly, sounds like you made a good call. I would have done the same. If you are still looking at stoves and a possible upgrade, I would suggest researching Soto. I have the Micro-regulator, and it is phenomenal. They also came out with a new one called the Muka, and it is a beast.

4.7 * Pi * ((3.7 / 2)^2) = 50.534874 cubic inches = 0.828038344 liters

So since those are the outer dimensions. I estimate it's .75L or so? Obviously somebody can correct this with the actual spec.

If the 230 gram fuel canister weighs around 8 oz by itself, how do the canister, stove and pot add up to 7oz?

Most, if not all piezo ignitors crap out @ or around 10,000' but the stove portion continues to work well way beyond that. I have personally used this stove above 13,000' with good results. Nice little package.

Still, 20-21 oz isn't bad for the whole pkg. Anybody used the stove? How well does the piezo work?

Phil, I think it's only a North American partnership to sell & distribute their products. If you remember, they did the same thing with Optimus a few years ago but now that's a partnership with Katadyn.

Hey Jeff, did Brunton buy out Primus, or are they just the North American distributors? I noticed on their site that it referenced Brunton as the contact.

230 grams is fuel only weight The total weight is, depending on the manufacturer, between 13 & 14 ounces. This is the fuel weight plus the canister weight. So the Primus TiLite Stove system, with fuel, actually weighs between 20 & 21 ounces.

I don't know where they came up with that equation, but you're right. Just the stove and pot weigh in at 7oz.

This stove will only work with the screw-on, Lindal valve type: standard compressed gas fuel canisters available from @ least seven different manufacturers & sold wherever camping fuel is sold.
