good for beginners.

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this for my sisters who are just getting into backpacking. this is a good stove for them. supports their MSR pots very well, and boils water quickly...all you need in a beginner stove.

Does the job.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this on sale a while back and wish I spent the extra bucks for the MSR Pocket Rocket. This Primus works just fine and puts out some serious heat, but also has a big flame - maybe too big depends on how big your pot or kettle is. It's twice has heavy, but I think it's a little more stable and sturdy than the pocket rocket and definitely boils faster.

Can you use any brand of blended fuel canisters with this stove, or does it only work with Primus PowerGas canisters?
