Just got the grill about an hour ago. Backcountry really came through for me with the overnight shipping. We're leaving for Yosemite tomorrow and kind of waited til the last minute to buy our stove. We usually pack really light with backpacking stoves so this car camping thing is new to us.
When I unboxed it, it looked great, but I got pretty worried pretty fast when I could not get the propane hose to screw onto the internal fitting. I kept twisting and twisting and the threads never would catch. I thought maybe they were stripped.
Obviously I had no hope of returning it today and getting a replacement by tomorrow. So I just kept fiddling with it until I got it to work. If you come across this problem, here's what it was. The male fitting, about an inch inside the right side of the stove was bent at an angle such that I was having trouble getting the threads to line up. I basically had to jam the thing on there and then bend it straight.
Then I was able to get it all the way screwed on and it fired up no problem.
I just cooked my first chicken sausage on it for a lunch time test and boy was it good.
Maybe I'll write another review after we get back from Yosemite.
Change me.
