These are by far the best pants I've ever owned, I'm on to my second pair and I think I'm going to replace the whole pants drawer in my dresser for them. Comfortable, Durable, water resistant. I helped someone move a sketchy tray of salsa and it caved in and spilled a pint of salsa all over my pants, but it all rolled right off and you couldn't even tell. Just got back from a trip to the desert with some other gearheads and we all had the Stretch Zions, and none of us could stop talking about how kick-ass these things are. I wish I had more hands, so I could give these things 4 thumbs up!

First off, these are 5 star pants. However, I had some sizing issues with the new version.

Over the years I've had 3 pairs of these, and just ordered my 4th. All the other ones I've had are Med X 32. This time I ordered 32x32. They fit in the waist, but the inseam is almost two inches longer than my older pants. I guess I'll be returning them for a shorter pair. Has anyone else experienced this with the new pants?

I have these pants in the S32 size before they reconfigured the sizing. I ordered the 30x32 and they were a bit tight. Exchanged them for 31x32 and they fit like my older pairs of S32 (great Backcountry service as usual). No issues with the inseam, though. And yes, these pants are 5 stars.

I'm currently on my 3rd pair of stretch zions. I've probably spent more days in stretch zions than any other pant, and I intend to spend many more. These are by the far the best pants I've ever climbed in, and chances are if you're reading reviews, you have already gotten that idea.

I don't have much to add to the 200 other 5 star reviews, (yes, the pants are the best pants) but here is some information on the 2016 sizing. For this year, Prana switched from Size (SML) x Length (#) to Waist (#) x Length (#). The length is still the same between 2015 and 2016 pants, but the waist is now confusing. All I can tell with confidence is that the 30 is approximately equal to the S, and I believe the 32 is equivalent to the medium. But I only own two pairs of the small/30 to make the direct comparison.

Also, these pants loosen up with wear. My year old pair have probably stretched 1-2 inches in the waist since I got them (which makes the integral belt even more useful).

I don't have anything to complain about these pants, which would probably confuse my ancestors, as my people's national past time is complaining.

Overall though, if you climb, hike, yoge (what is the noun for do yoga?) or really wear pants, you will love these pants. They are the best pants.

The Best Climbing Pant, Full Stop.

Hey Jonathan, I would buy the 30. I just measured my 3 pairs by laying flat on the ground. My new-ish 30" waist is just a touch over 16 inches when laid flat, (so about 32"). My stretched out "Small" waist is 17 inches when laid flat (34 inches). My old "Medium" waist is 17.5" when laid flat (35 inches), probably because I didn't wear them as tight. However, the belt gives you about 2" to cinch down, which compensates for the stretch.

    Enjoy!

These pants are incredibly versatile. They have been everywhere from work meetings to climbing in Rocky Mtn National Park. They fit great, are beyond comfortable with the stretch component and the DWR coating even sheds soy sauce from sushi miss haps. I would strongly recommend these to anyone.

I've been wearing stretch Zion pants for many seasons now and they are my primary cycling / camping / travel pants. The new dark ginger color is my 3rd pair and I just might get a 4th because I use them so much. Good mix of stretch material that is not rough against the skin but stays durable against outdoor elements. The waist cinch & leg snaps are very useful when biking, either casually around town or for longer distances.

    Party in the Pants

I love these pants. Hands down the best climbing pants I have worn. They look stylish, so you can wear them around town after a day at the crag. I would even where these for late spring snowboarding (when the temps are high). The gusseted crotch prevents the hindrance of any movement. They are superbly comfortable.

They fit true to size. If you are sorta in the middle range between sizes, then choose the higher one. The pants have a draw cord that allows you to cinch them up a bit.

One complaint: I saw that a couple other people were also mentioning this issue, and I also found it to be true. During the first few wears, some of the stitching on the pants will come lose. Not too much, and nothing that hurts the integrity of the pants what soever, but when you pay this much for a pair of pants you expect everything (including the stitching) to be top notch.

    The hype is real

These pants are hands down the most comfortable pants I own. Super lightweight and giving you the perfect amount of stretch for climbing and hiking. These pants are also super breathable so on those hot days in the summer these pants will have you covered. If you haven't tried these pants yet you're missing out.

Nice pants, but only one cargo pocket

These pants are nice. They feel great, stretch and move well with one's body, they repel dirt well.

I know most of this from owning the Prana Stretch Zion Convertible Pants. I have put those through the ringer in the Enchantments and on the Muir Snowfield at Mount Rainier.

However, these non-convertible Prana Stretch Zion Pants have only one cargo pocket. The pictures don't show that. The text does, though, under "Learn more" or "Tech Specs."

One cargo pocket is just not enough for me. You're making me choose between my map and my jellybeans?

Most comfortable pants I've ever owned!!

      • Size Bought: Medium 32 Long

I took two pairs with me on a 4 day trek to Machu Picchu. I wore one pair for 3 days of all day hiking and changed out on my last day into a clean pair. Mornings were cool 45-50 Fahrenheit and warmed up throughout the day to around 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Very very comfortable to hike in these conditions. I got my pants on sale, and regular price seems a bit too high for my liking. My only concern is that they seem like they might tear easier if going through some heavy brush, due to the softer material... But have yet to test them to that extreme. Overall excellent buy.

      Best for everything

I love these pants, truly. They changed my life. I wear these whenever I go rock climbing, or go to a yoga class, and even just lounging around the house because they are so comfy. I have purchased multiple pants in different colors because I just can't get enough of that fabric. I'd recommend these to all climbers, hikers, yogis, and adventurers. These pants will change your life.

Super comfortable, very water proof from what I've seen, durable, and very stretchy. The built in belt works well, and they fit true to size. I'm definitely getting more as soon as they come back on stock.

These pants are amazing, A great fit, the perfect amount of stretch, super breatheable, and bullet proof. My favorite pair of climbing pants by far. I love the adjustable waist and not having to wear an annoying belt ever again!

      The Perfect Climbing Pant

I just bought my second pair of Stretch Zion Pants and they are the best climbing pants that I have ever owned. They are stretchy, breathable, water resistant and quick drying. I use them for everything. They are stretchy and extremely flexible for climbing, and they are lightweight and breathable enough that you can even hike in them in the summer months without overheating. I love the pocket layout, they have an awesome mid thigh pocket that doesn't get in the way of your harness at all, so you can easily take a phone or small camera on any climb you go on. I also have a pair of the Stretch Zion Shorts that are just as compatible with your harness. All in all, these are great pants.

I want to get my husband a pair of these. As long as I've known him, he's been 32x32 (medium) in every brand and everything, but Prana's size chart leads me to believe he'd need a small (waist size "30"). Can anyone verify or clarify this? He usually wears his pants a bit tight, but this might be due to his soccer player build.

I guess I'm wondering if all the reviewers who say it fits "true to size" mean according to Prana's size chart, or according to their normal size...these are obviously different.

What does the number indicate after the letter? Is that the inseam or waist? i.e. a S-30 will get me a waist of 32 but a length of 30 and a S-32 will get me a 32/32?

Any ladies out there that rock these for climbing (or otherwise?) I'm in the market for some climbing pants, not partial to mens clothes, but here they are, and one sale. .. men's prana has fit me in the past, just curious about ladies experience with these pants. thanks!

      Best Answer

Yes, I wear both the pants and shorts and love them! The shorts do look a little like you're wearing men's pants (they sometimes get some weird bunching in the front when I sit down) but I don't care because they're so comfortable and functional. I have a muscular posterior and can't stand women's pants that are so low rise. FYI, I'm 5'4" and wear a women's large in most pants, and the M-30 fits well...just a little long, so I roll them up a little.

I'm a short guy that typically wears a 28"-29" inseam. What are my options here, cuff the bottoms of a pair of 30"?

      Hi Raymond,

the 30" inseam is the shortest for the Stretch Zion Pant. I know a few people in your situation that have used a few different options. First you can always spend $10-$20 and get them professionally hemmed. Second option would be to buy some hem tape. There is either the iron on version or the super sticky version. Usually about $5.

I want to buy these for my husband but how can you tell which inseam is which? He is a 32X30

Hi, these look great for my boyfriend who enjoys camping and climbing. He's 5'8, 135 pounds, 30" waist. Which size should I order?? thanks!

The small will definitely be on the looser/baggier side; I'm 5'11, 155 and a size small feels a touch loose on me. My boyfriend who's about the same dimensions as yours wears an extra-small and they fit him really nicely. Remember, these are stretchy. Hope this helps.

Is it possible to find the claimed weight of this pants?

      I'm a 33 waist 32 length. 6'0'' 200lbs. What would you recommend for sizing?

Are any of the pockets zippered and if so, which ones? Is the belt removable?

      Best Answer

      Hey!

So the cargo pocket on the left thigh has a zippered pocket. Zippered on top and on side for dual access.

      The belt is non-removable.

Does Prana make pants like this for ladies? A comparable pant?

I'm 5'9' 140 lbs, what size should I get? Pretty consistently a waist 32 across other brands. Sounds like prana has been changing up the sizing. My older prana pants from ~2005 say M on the tag, and I think it was either 32 or 30 inseam....they fit very well.
