    Zion pants

I own 3 pairs of Zion pants and two pairs of Zion shorts. I don't personally fell these would be a good choice durability wise for serious out door climbing or mountaineering but around town and at the gym they are amazing. Just super comfortable and a really nice look.

      Cargo pocket too low

Just received the pants after reading rave reviews on the website. I was looking for some flexible (stretch) hiking pants in blue with cargo pockets that had a fairly clean profile. One step in them and I realized they would not work for me: the cargo pocket (a must for me) is too low. It sits on the outside of the knee, so every step I take the contents in the cargo pocket scrape against the outside of my knee. This is both unpleasant and highly restrictive of movement. The cargo pocket should sit a lot higher, like the LL Bean Cresta pants that I use most. That way it doesn't impede movement.

        These pants are perfect.

True to size. Adjustability in the waist / built in belt is awesome. They aren't too baggy, not too tight either. I have two pairs of these pants and wear them both weekly. I can't say enough good things about them. I'm all in on pants with the crotch gusset now. I like the DWR layer and it still works well after numerous washes. With some garments that offer great functionality you often lose out in style but I think these pants look good too. My wife loves the way they fit.

        I'm 5'11, 160 lbs and 32 x 32 fits great.

Add to cart and buy them now. I put these in the "essentials/must own" category along with the Prana mojo short and Patagonia baggies short and Patagonia synchilla snap T's. I always have on one of these things depending on the season. Buy these pants!!!

I got two pairs of these after working with the wyatt pant and reading the reviews. They didnt lie. These are comfortable, well fitted, and up to any job. I love the roll up at the bottom. Im gonna get more when I need them. Definitely a hard working go to pant. Great for work or play.

        Still a 5-Star

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I've said it before and still stand by what an awesome, versatile, lightweight, comfortable, performance or casual pant this is. All my friends and family own this pant (all adventurers by their own right) and it's simplicity, and practical features never change. Just a touch of stretch allows freedom of movement without compromising the fit. The simple (and minimalist) waist adjuster allows one to adjust the fit for the activity and they always look good on. Bonus - available in all sizes and lengths.

        As awesome as the shorts

The Prana Zion shorts are pretty much the only shorts I wear. These pants are the same thing, but in full pants form. That is to say, they frickin' rock. The one minor thing is my legs are fuzzy and they get a lot of static going inside, which is annoying. Some lotion gets that problem tuned up, though.

Basically the only pants I wear

I purchased my first Stretch Zions last year. This year I'm buying more! The fit is even more dialed this year and the colors are better, too!

A also like the Bion pants when I need to look more dressed up.

These run true to size. I'm a 33 x 34. I would also pick up some Zioneers if they make them in a 34 length in the future.

          Prana stretch zion pant

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times
          • Fit: Runs large
          • Size Bought: 30

Intro: Very versatile pants with durable comfortable material.

Fit: I got a 30 and I usually wear a 31-32 in jeans. The fit was very good, not too tight but you may consider getting larger size because there is a convenient built in tightening strap on the belt line.

Preformance/use: hiking, climbing (both indoor and outdoor)

Pros/cons: Adjustable waist, convenient pocket for hiking, gusseted crotch makes for nice climbing wear. Cons – not quite as stylish as, say, the Brion pants. The buttoning system at the bottom to roll up pant makes you role up the pants too tight. Slightly pricey.

          Poor Pocket Design

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I am picky about pocket placement and security. My strong preference is for two secure side cargo pockets (one for wallet/id and one for phone). This pant has only one cargo pocket but oddly it has two zippers to that same pocket. One zipper is easily to access and not very secure, the other zipper (to the same pocket) is very difficult to access (which is good for security but the pocket is only as secure as it's weakest zipper/access which in this case is pretty weak, the other secure zipper/access is simply useless).

Nice pants if you don't mind pockets that lack security and from which you may accidentally lose items.

          Great pant

True to size. Great all around pant for someone who loves the outdoors. They stretch which is a great quality for climbing and bike riding, or any other sport. Wonderful product, that I highly recommend

Prana really does make excellent clothing, and the Stretch Zion is no exception. These pants are nice and lightweight but can still stand up to some real abuse, they are very durable. The Stretch Zion bridges the gap between technical and lifestyle clothing. You can easily wear these pants out hiking, climbing, fishing, or anything else outside and not have to worry about changing your clothes before you head out for a night on the town.

The DWR protects you from rain and spilled beer (god forbid). Plenty of pockets to stash your items in and roll up pant legs with a button closure to keep them in place is great for when you are getting after it in the the wilderness, wouldn't want to scuff the cuff of your nice new pants.

Really the closest thing to a do all pant out there.

          Best Pants Ever

I've worn these on a few hikes, with weather ranging from 30F to 70F, including sun and rain. Somehow, they're always comfy. They cut is just about perfect and they have just the right about of stretch. The pockets are placed well and are plenty useful. Will definitely buy again.

Should be on your gear list!

These are excellent pants! Extremely comfortable, and very true to size! I love how they button up. This summer I am going to be in the Boundary Waters all summer and the button ups are very useful and functional. Buy two pairs!

Last year I bought Prana stretch zion pants with size M 32. but I noticed Prana Pants size system changed. So I wonder which size one I shoud choose for me. 32x 32 or 33 x 32?

Hey Bumtae - Prana did change their sizing for this year. I have an old L-34 and the 34x34 fit me best in the new Stretch Zions. There is still the adjustment strap in the waist so maybe the 33x32 will be best for you. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

I want to get my husband a pair of these. As long as I've known him, he's been 32x32 (medium) in every brand and everything, but Prana's size chart leads me to believe he'd need a small (waist size "30"). Can anyone verify or clarify this? He usually wears his pants a bit tight, but this might be due to his soccer player build.

I guess I'm wondering if all the reviewers who say it fits "true to size" mean according to Prana's size chart, or according to their normal size...these are obviously different.

What does the number indicate after the letter? Is that the inseam or waist? i.e. a S-30 will get me a waist of 32 but a length of 30 and a S-32 will get me a 32/32?

Any ladies out there that rock these for climbing (or otherwise?) I'm in the market for some climbing pants, not partial to mens clothes, but here they are, and one sale. .. men's prana has fit me in the past, just curious about ladies experience with these pants. thanks!

            Best Answer

Yes, I wear both the pants and shorts and love them! The shorts do look a little like you're wearing men's pants (they sometimes get some weird bunching in the front when I sit down) but I don't care because they're so comfortable and functional. I have a muscular posterior and can't stand women's pants that are so low rise. FYI, I'm 5'4" and wear a women's large in most pants, and the M-30 fits well...just a little long, so I roll them up a little.

I'm a short guy that typically wears a 28"-29" inseam. What are my options here, cuff the bottoms of a pair of 30"?

            Hi Raymond,

the 30" inseam is the shortest for the Stretch Zion Pant. I know a few people in your situation that have used a few different options. First you can always spend $10-$20 and get them professionally hemmed. Second option would be to buy some hem tape. There is either the iron on version or the super sticky version. Usually about $5.

I want to buy these for my husband but how can you tell which inseam is which? He is a 32X30

Hi, these look great for my boyfriend who enjoys camping and climbing. He's 5'8, 135 pounds, 30" waist. Which size should I order?? thanks!

The small will definitely be on the looser/baggier side; I'm 5'11, 155 and a size small feels a touch loose on me. My boyfriend who's about the same dimensions as yours wears an extra-small and they fit him really nicely. Remember, these are stretchy. Hope this helps.

Is it possible to find the claimed weight of this pants?

            I'm a 33 waist 32 length. 6'0'' 200lbs. What would you recommend for sizing?

Are any of the pockets zippered and if so, which ones? Is the belt removable?

            Best Answer

            Hey!

So the cargo pocket on the left thigh has a zippered pocket. Zippered on top and on side for dual access.

            The belt is non-removable.

Does Prana make pants like this for ladies? A comparable pant?

I'm 5'9' 140 lbs, what size should I get? Pretty consistently a waist 32 across other brands. Sounds like prana has been changing up the sizing. My older prana pants from ~2005 say M on the tag, and I think it was either 32 or 30 inseam....they fit very well.
