    Prana Stretch Zion Pant

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32X32

Bought for a friend, here's what he had to say:
"When it comes to the fit, these pants are true to size while still giving you leeway with an adjustable strap that makes it so a belt isn’t necessary. Once I put them on I instantly realized these are the most comfortable pants in my wardrobe. The nylon makes maneuvering around in these pants effortless, and the gusset in the crotch really compliments this. This means that they are perfect for hiking and climbing, while still having a clean look for casual wear. My concern with buying pants that are flexible is worrying that the fabric will be too thin (this was the case with my Patagonia back-step pants), but this simply isn’t the case. The extra pocket on the left leg is handy, and isn’t a sore thumb like cargo pant pockets are. The roll up leg snaps aren’t something I see myself using as I’m not a fan of the look, but it’s a nice addition nevertheless. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for something they could wear year round. "

    Sizing problems

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 28x30

I own these pants in the XS-30 and recently purchased the 28x30, which is Prana's new sizing and the smallest they sell. The xs-30 pant leg diameter was much better and i found the 28x30 diameter to be too large and bulky. If the pants fit you, you'll love them, but they're not for small folks like me. I found the pants overtime stretched out a bit generally so beware if you find them a bit big from the start.

    New style for me

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I’d say the fit on these is between slim and standard. I’m a skinny guy so I can fit into slim pants with tons of room to spare still. These are a bit baggy on me, but I still like wearing them! They are breathable, light, and the stretch is great. The DWR finish keeps them nice and dry. I can definitely put some thicker layers on underneath to stay warm.

    Most comfortable pant ever? Affirmative

    • Size Bought: 32 x 30

These fit like a glove and true to size. I bought one pair, then promptly bought another 2 more. More of a boot cut at the bottom. Not too tight. Definite stretch makes them super comfortable. I highly recommend.

    Light, breathable and comfy

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32x32

These pants are super light and very breathable. Pockets are very practical. The pants fit on me excellent. Though by the mistake I have bought size 32x32 instead of 32x30. But they look good even like that.

    Best pants EVER!

I normally wear jeans. To work, to play, to climb, to hike, just everywhere. After 38 years of being on this planet I have found a pair of pants that has been a game changer. I now wear these everywhere. They have really held up for me. I work has a carpenter/contractor and spend most of my free time climbing and camping. These now come with me everywhere.
I am 6'1" and weigh 165-170. I have a thinner runners build. I love that they have a lower rise and a non baggy fit. I have the depth and placement of the pockets. The snaps for the rolling up of the pants is great in the Austin Texas heat. They are thin and lightweight but still loose enough for a thick base layer for a hike up the West Spanish Peak in CO.
Not one bad thing to say about these. They are perfect and stylish.
I normally wear a 30x32 and they have been true to size.

I wear BKE Carter jeans and they fit just like them, if this helps anyone.

    Great pants

Admittedly I had tried these on in a retail store first but I did take the risk of ordering a pair with 30" inseam not a 32" (I'm 31") so it's always hit and miss) and the size is perfect and they are incredibly well made and fit like a glove. Material works well here in CO (breathable and cool) but I'm headed to Shanghai next week and we'll see how they fare in those muggy conditions?

      Great pants

If I had to choose one pair of pants to wear for the rest of my days these would be it. They're extremely comfortable and durable. While the price is high there's no doubt iny mind that they're worth it.

      Nice Pants

      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: 36

I like these pants. Unfortunately, they're cut smaller than the OR Ferrosi pants (which I also like) so I ordered another pair of those because my body just couldn't make the trip. Just need to get back out on the trail and drop those summer pounds I put on being trapped at work.
My food love problems aside, these pants are well-constructed and have good pockets. The material is just right weight-wise and they look sharp.
Can't wait to drop my Summer 15 so I can do some Fall hiking in them.

      Good Pant

      • Size Bought: 32x34

These are my go to favorite outdoor pant, flexibility and durability where you need it, very comfortable fit. True to size for me as well 32 waist and 34 in seem on point. All around great minimal lightweight pant. After talking a family member into trying on a pair, he now owns three. Buy with confidence from Backcountry as well, top tier service.

Just took these camping and climbing

      Another 5 star review

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I think my title sums things up. These pants won't let down. Just read the hundreds of 5 star reviews and you'll have an understanding what makes these pants awesome.

The material is durable, breathable, just stretchy enough, and will also repel light precipitation. Add in the 5 pockets, adjustable waist band, and ideal tailoring and you have a pair of pants that are ready for anything you throw at them. Try as you might these never seem to wear out.

      Extremely comfortable

Preferred the blue color which was on sale! Stretchy material is fabulous.....moves with body motion. Gusset makes a guys' life more comfortable with vent holes for circulation. Specific waist/length dimensions make the pants perfect. Love the product!!!

      Great hiking pants

I love my Prana Zions! Great feel, and comfortable fit. Prefer them to shorts any day. They wick the moisture away from your body, and dry quickly when wet. I will definitely be buying another pair.

I picked up a pair of these a while back and they have turned into my go to pants for hiking and climbing. The fit is pretty spot on and the stretch feature makes it nice when you are climbing or scrambling over the rocks. The zippered pocket sits below your harness leg loop which makes a great protected spot to keep your cell phone or keys. The roll up leg snaps makes it nice too for rolling up the legs and it keeps them up instead of rolling back down. I am a die hard Patagonia guy, but I would definitely get another pair of these pants...

      Great pants whacked sizing

      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: 30x32 Too small

My husband purchased a pair of these pants for a mission trip to Africa where he needed lightweight fabric that would also protect him from bug bites so he wouldn't have to wear shorts. He loved them! They are his favorite pants. However, he ordered them when the sizing was different. He normally wears a 32x32, His perfect pair of Pranas are a size small/32. So I confirmed with customer service and they told me that that the new 30x32 sizing was the same as the small but when they arrived they were way too small around the waist and about an inch longer causing them to have a slight flair at the bottom. So I ordered another pair in a 31x32 thinking that would be a good fit. Again, too small and longer. I am returning both pair in exchange for a 32x32 in hopes that it will be right. Great pants, just be careful with the new sizing. These use to run large but I think since they have changed the sizing they now run more true to size, as my husband normally wears a 32x32 in jeans and Dockers etc....

      Great Active Pant

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Great pants for day hikes and backpacking trips. They are an athletic cut without feeling clingy or restrictive, and there's enough stretch that the pants move well with you. Plenty of pockets, and the hand pockets are big enough for large hands. Bonus - they look pretty good too, so mine get worn for casual use as well. Mine fit true to size.

      Experienced wearer of these pants

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 34/34

These are without a doubt the most comfortable pants on the market! I have been wearing these pants for years and I still have my first pair. Great stretch and mobility, perfect for activity but used mostly as an everyday casual pant. I own multiple in almost every color! Love the dual zippered side pocket and the cinch belt is way more comfortable than actually having to wear a belt.

      Unanswered Question

      Hi,

I bought a pair in size S/32 a year ago and they fit perfectly. Would a 31/32 be a comparable fit after the change to numerical sizing? Also, is it true that they changed the fit to be baggier in the legs as another reviewer mentioned?
      Hope not, they were perfect...

Prana appears to make these in a 36 length as well. Can these be ordered through backcountry as well?

Last year I bought Prana stretch zion pants with size M 32. but I noticed Prana Pants size system changed. So I wonder which size one I shoud choose for me. 32x 32 or 33 x 32?

Hey Bumtae - Prana did change their sizing for this year. I have an old L-34 and the 34x34 fit me best in the new Stretch Zions. There is still the adjustment strap in the waist so maybe the 33x32 will be best for you. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

I want to get my husband a pair of these. As long as I've known him, he's been 32x32 (medium) in every brand and everything, but Prana's size chart leads me to believe he'd need a small (waist size "30"). Can anyone verify or clarify this? He usually wears his pants a bit tight, but this might be due to his soccer player build.

I guess I'm wondering if all the reviewers who say it fits "true to size" mean according to Prana's size chart, or according to their normal size...these are obviously different.

      Hey Stella,

If he is a 32x32 get him a Medium 32. I am a 32" waist and wear a medium in these pants. I think the Prana size chart is a off for these pants. Let me know if you have any other questions.

What does the number indicate after the letter? Is that the inseam or waist? i.e. a S-30 will get me a waist of 32 but a length of 30 and a S-32 will get me a 32/32?

The S is for the waist size and the number is the inseam length. For a 32" waist you could go with either a M or S depending on how you want them to fit. The adjustable waist belt will fine tune the fit for you.

Any ladies out there that rock these for climbing (or otherwise?) I'm in the market for some climbing pants, not partial to mens clothes, but here they are, and one sale. .. men's prana has fit me in the past, just curious about ladies experience with these pants. thanks!

Thanks Jeremy! I'm aware of the Halle, hadn't seen it on sale, will consider- but doesn't come in brick and blue (what's with that!?). I have been partial to flashier colors lately, they're so much fun!

      Best Answer

Yes, I wear both the pants and shorts and love them! The shorts do look a little like you're wearing men's pants (they sometimes get some weird bunching in the front when I sit down) but I don't care because they're so comfortable and functional. I have a muscular posterior and can't stand women's pants that are so low rise. FYI, I'm 5'4" and wear a women's large in most pants, and the M-30 fits well...just a little long, so I roll them up a little.

I'm a short guy that typically wears a 28"-29" inseam. What are my options here, cuff the bottoms of a pair of 30"?

      Hi Raymond,

the 30" inseam is the shortest for the Stretch Zion Pant. I know a few people in your situation that have used a few different options. First you can always spend $10-$20 and get them professionally hemmed. Second option would be to buy some hem tape. There is either the iron on version or the super sticky version. Usually about $5.

I want to buy these for my husband but how can you tell which inseam is which? He is a 32X30

The S/M/L is the Waist Size and the number is the length. Depending on how he likes them to fit he could wear a small or a medium.

Hi, these look great for my boyfriend who enjoys camping and climbing. He's 5'8, 135 pounds, 30" waist. Which size should I order?? thanks!

      Best Answer

I would say a small waist then pick the right inseam length. They come in three inseams 30, 32, 34.

The small will definitely be on the looser/baggier side; I'm 5'11, 155 and a size small feels a touch loose on me. My boyfriend who's about the same dimensions as yours wears an extra-small and they fit him really nicely. Remember, these are stretchy. Hope this helps.

Definitely the XS. I am 5'7, 137 pounds and the XS 30 is a perfect fit.

I have a couple pairs of size small Stretch Zion shorts. Can I expect similar sizing and fit in the pants?

Is it possible to find the claimed weight of this pants?

      Best Answer

Trevor, the pants weigh 0.9 lbs in a medium.

Are any of the pockets zippered and if so, which ones? Is the belt removable?

      Hey!

So the cargo pocket on the left thigh has a zippered pocket. Zippered on top and on side for dual access.

      The belt is non-removable.

I'm 5'9' 140 lbs, what size should I get? Pretty consistently a waist 32 across other brands. Sounds like prana has been changing up the sizing. My older prana pants from ~2005 say M on the tag, and I think it was either 32 or 30 inseam....they fit very well.

We do not currently have that size and color in stock. We do not have an order for those from Prana. I'm not sure if we will be carrying that size.

Did they change the fit of these pants this year? I bought a pair last year that had a slimmer fit. I just bought the same size pair last month and they were baggy.

Yes, they made them bigger! L used to be doable, but a little big for me, now they were huge. M fit fine now whereas they were tight in the hips in the past. I have always worn a M in the shorts, though.

Can you special order the xs size?

We do sometimes have the XS in stock but unfortunatley none at the moment, and at present we are not able to backorder Prana products.

Do I read the sizing info correctly that S-34 would be a 31" inseam, 34" waist? Or is it the other way, an M-30 would be 34" waist, 30" inseam?

      Best Answer

Judging from the other reviews it looks like S,M,L are waist sizes, and the number is the inseam.

S is the waist. A medium waist fits from around a 32" up to about a 34" waist, maybe even 35". They are stretchy and have an adjuster, so if they are tight they stretch out a bit. These pants are absurdly comfortable and abrasion resistant too.
