An all time classic

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

These pants have been in my arsenal for over 8 years and they have still yet to fail me. I've used these for climbing, construction work, casual wear and everything else in between and can't say enough good things about them. The built in waist belt is clutch for climbing and makes adjustment simple. They wash really well too. I've gotten PVC glue, soldier, grease and blood all over these and it all washes out with no problemos!

We do sometimes have the XS in stock but unfortunatley none at the moment, and at present we are not able to backorder Prana products.

My favorite pants to do anything in!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I took these pants on a 3 week long adventure in Costa Rica. I wore these pants almost every day hiking in them, climbing in them, or just chilling in them around the shacks we were staying in. I have also worn these pants in a week long backpacking trip to Zion National Park. They also get used about 3 times a week as climbing pants.
These pants are incredible! They are extremely comfortable, they breathe well, and they are so far very durable! I also love that they have buttons to hold them rolled up! My only wish for these pants was that I had bought two of them and in one size smaller. These pants will not let you down!

Where can't they go?

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use these pants for everything. I have two pairs now and I primarily use them for climbing. The snaps on the legs make it nice if I want to keep my pants rolled-up for more of a 3/4 pant feel. I have also used these pants backpacking and they worked great. The fit is also very nice, even though I would recommend going with a smaller inseam, unless you want a little extra at the bottom. I'm normally a 32x32 and I first got the medium 32's and they were too long. I returned them and got the medium 30's and they fit great!

Where can't they go?

Do I read the sizing info correctly that S-34 would be a 31" inseam, 34" waist? Or is it the other way, an M-30 would be 34" waist, 30" inseam?

Best Answer Responded on

Judging from the other reviews it looks like S,M,L are waist sizes, and the number is the inseam.

Responded on

S is the waist. A medium waist fits from around a 32" up to about a 34" waist, maybe even 35". They are stretchy and have an adjuster, so if they are tight they stretch out a bit. These pants are absurdly comfortable and abrasion resistant too.

Perfect climbing pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Awesome pants for climbing. Stretchy, tough, and super comfortable. I love the entire Stretch Zion line and have multiple pairs of these and the Nemesis Knickers (the 3/4 length version). The integrated belt is great. Especially like that these look so much like "normal" pants. I can wear them to work and head straight to the crag in the evening. In fact I think I like these as everyday pants more than any other I've worn.

The king of all pants!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love these pants! I seriously love them. I want to marry them? well maybe just marry my girlfriend while wearing them?
These pants are lightweight and stretchy. They roll up and clip for climbing or anything else you want that for. They have a built in belt. They have a fancy cargo pocket that has a cool secret zipper on the side of it if you don't want to use the top. They dry insanely fast.

I was super worried about taking these out climbing. I mean $80 for a pair of pants. That's the most money I've ever spent on pants. I was so afraid of ripping them. Nope? didn't happen. I literally wear these pants everyday. Well I own a few pair in different colors so don't worry I wear different ones so they don't get all nasty. I wear these on crappy approaches going through brush and cactus and they are still holding up perfectly. No rips or tears. I've had them completely wet and they dry really fast.

These pants aren't ideal for winter though. They are super breezy. Air just flows through them? Maybe if you have a baselayer underneath they would be ok.

Anyway. Buy these pants. You will not regret it.

I'm 5'9" 130 lbs. slender build usually wearing a 30" waist. and I have them in a size small with 30" inseam. I'd get a 32" inseam though for my next 4 pair. 30" is like right at my ankle and looks sort of goofy when wearing around town.

Perfect lightweight hiking pants

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I bought these for my boyfriend who is 6'3", 180 lbs. He wears a 34 inch waist size, and the size Medium/34"-inseam fit him perfectly. He loves the pants and they look great on him. Not overly baggy, so if you have larger thighs and butt, you might want to keep looking for wider-legged pants. Great fit for lean guys. A++

I have spent years and coutless of hours and dollars searching for decent hiking pants. The prana are very very close. First of all I cant stand hiking pants that look like hiking pants. The prana zion pants are very cool in that regards
..and yeah like the other reviews, these pants are bomber, comfortable and have some very cool features. I am very , very impressed. Thank you Prana

The perfect climbing pant

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have been on a quest, searching far and wide for the perfect pair of pants to climb in. My journey has come to completion.

These things are bomber, tough fabric that wont rip and tear, but stretchy and forgiving as well for those climbing moves that require your foot to be right next to your face..

i will be grabbing more of these for sure.

Hey Ted,

Looks like we do have another shipment on its way but I wouldn't expect it to be restocked until probably towards the end of February.

Sorry 2 disappoint.

Close to perfection

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I'll start by saying these are my favorite new hiking and climbing pants. I will definitely be ordering more.

The material these are made of is super comfortable, stretchy, and durable. A perfect combo for the likes of climbing. Not sure I need the extra cargo pockets, but I suppose they are handy , they definitely don't hurt. Comes with a little adjustable waist cinch belt for tightening, and button things for rolling up the pant legs and securing them (was not immediately aware thats what they were for..) All in all, the fit and the material make these an amazing climbing essential for me.

My only gripe is small, but I wish the pant legs were a little less wide near the ankles. Thats the only thing I MIGHT change about these.

My Favorite Pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

What more can I say, these are my favorite pair of pants. They are extremely comfortable, light weight with just a little bit of stretch to them. Fit is great I'm 5'7" 165lb, and the Medium, 30 inseam fit perfect. There is Room to move around without these pants being baggy or loose
Great for everything from everyday wear, to hiking, to climbing. The waist strap is great so i don't need a belt. Only issue I have come across is that the knees got a little fuzzy after some indoor climbing.

How loose are these from the knee to the hip area? I wear larges but find the hip area are tight on some pants. And are they the real deal?

Best Answer Responded on

These have a standard fit so they'll be more of a loose fit in that area, but wouldn't be baggy.

Favorite warm weather climbing pant

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Excellent for rock-climbing in decent to good weather.

I bought a pair after seeing great reviews on a Mountain Project post and I'm definitely planning on getting a second pair.

The pants have just the right amount of stretch and the built in belt works really well. The pants also snap up leaving your feet/lower legs free - which is nice for climbing.

durable, comfy, technical fit.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

The pants have a nice technical fit, not too tight nor too baggy. I'm bit of a cross-fitter, so I always check to see how range of motion is and it's no problem to do a full squat/air squat. Better price than the big name brand pants like Northface and significantly better.

My go to pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These are my favorite pants for almost everything. They hug your upper legs and are very comfortable. My girlfriend likes to point out that they are very visually appealing. The pocket has two zipper openings that is very convenient. They are totally worth the price.

Super Comfortable

Come Saturday, these are my go-to casual pants. Great for running errands or hitting the rock gym. They can be a touch chilly with a cold breeze.
