Dog Trainer Approved

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

My wife trains dogs for a living and has dedicated these pants to taking on tough, dirty, and mouthy canines. She works both in and outdoors and regardless of the weather, they are able to keep her comfortable throughout the day. Highly recommend.

all around great pant

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Height: 5' 6"
    Weight: 124 lbs
    Size Purchased: 4

exchanged size 6 for a 4 because they swamped me. Love the length of the shorts at just under the knee but something to be aware of if you like a shorter inseam. Really comfi and so versatile for travel as well as hiking, camping etc.

Too Long

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Height: 5' 10"
    Weight: 145 lbs
    Size Purchased: 8 Long

The fit in the waist was perfect and the material was nice. I'm 5'10" and ordered a size 8 long. Normally pants are too short on me but these were much too long to wear. I've never had longs that were this long before! Go with the regular inseam even if you are tall like me.

Think I'm going love'em

  • Fit: True to size

Love the feel, movement, fit etc with the exception that they are tall. When I purchased them they didn't say "tall" but alas when they arrived sure enough they were. But I like the style etc so much I plan on hemming them and not exchanging since they didn't have any 2 regs left. Hiking the Appalachian Trail so will give these a through work out!!!

FINALLY

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 3"
    Weight: 150 lbs
    Size Purchased: 10S

Finally a pair of 10 short pants that actually fit my white girl ghetto booty.. I love these things. I'm 5 ft 3, 150.. a little on the thigh-heavy side, and these fit like a dream. First pair of short, convertible pants that aren't A: Too short, B: too long. These are awesome.

Pretty good travel pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Height: 5' 4"
    Weight: 150 lbs
    Size Purchased: 8

I bought these for a trip to Peru, knowing we would be doing a lot of traveling, and in a lot of different climates. They were comfortable and wore well after multiple days of wear. There's a little zip pocket on the side of the right leg which is nice for something small, but I wish it was a bigger, cargo style pocket that could actually hold a few things. The front pockets aren't much help either, as they fit tight and there isn't much room for anything bulky. I also ordered pants from The North Face and Kuhl, and think I liked both of those styles a little better (I ordered a 10 in both those styles, but an 8 in this one).

Pay attention to description

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 4"
    Weight: 130 lbs
    Size Purchased: 4 and 6

The pants in a size 4 were too small but the size 6 fit just right. I wasn't particularly pleased with the width of the pant leg. A bit too wide! I am 5'4" and 130 lbs. The problem I had with the pants is that I didn't read the description properly. I wanted a shorts convertible pant not a knicker convertible pant! I'll know better next time!

My go-tos

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Height: 5' 4"
    Weight: 115 lbs
    Size Purchased: 0

I wear these way too much. When I hike, climb, go out with friends. I even considered wearing them to work. They are that good.

My go-tos

Okay hiking pant

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

I have put these pants to the test. I am an outdoor education professional and expect a lot out of my gear. I wrote a review for the Halle pant and how I was so disappointed in the quality of the pant. Luckily, my Monarch Convertible pants are not having the same issues. However, the back pocket snaps are pulling apart from the fabric, rendering them useless. Also, I would have liked Prana to use two different colors for the zippers on the cutoff legs in order to differentiate between the left and right legs as some other gear manufacturers include. I bought these Prana pants to replace my Halle's and for a professional guiding gig. I also like that they come in long lengths! I wish Prana women's clothing was better quality for the expensive price because they understand a women's shape and make flattering clothing. I am still in search for a good backpacking pant, however.

Awkward seam placement

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

First thing I noticed when it was delivered to my doorstep were the seams. There are two seams (aside from the regular ones on the side of your legs) that run in the front and back of your legs. Why? I have no idea - I guess it's just the design. These seams are annoying and felt uncomfortable because the brand new pants were still a little stiff before washing and use. However, after it was washed and I went on a 15 mile day hike with it I stopped noticing the seams. I was too occupied with my foot placement while hiking and enjoying myself that the weird pant designs weren't so bothersome. Overall, it is a good pair of pants. Just minus one star because it does give you somewhat weird initial impressions. For the price though, I didn't think it worth it to return. DETAILS ABOUT ME - 5 ft 6in, 124 lbs, mostly muscular, I bought a 4Reg. Fits great! In the picture, I unzipped the pants because the weather that day was horrific.

In love!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

I bought two pairs of these for a trip to Patagonia and fell in love.
I have since used them for climbing, hiking , and everything in between. Super comfortable and convert between pants and shorts easily. They do tend to run a bit large, but the drawstring in the waistband is a life saver!

In love!

Comfortable, functional, and tough

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I ordered these in a 6 because that was all that was available at the time, but I wish I would have been able to get a 4! I'm 5'6'', 130 lbs and these are very roomy on me. The inner drawstring is a lifesaver though, otherwise these would be hard to wear. At least I can fit layers underneath them now that the weather is cooling off.

Apart from being the wrong size, these are awesome pants. Very comfortable, but also tough. These outperformed many other convertible pants I tried, and I used these extensively while trekking "Down Under". They held up to all kinds of abuse, so much so I call them my "Adventure Pants".

I definitely recommend these pants and I would purchase them again when my current pairs wears out. But, I will be ordering a size down next time.

Adorable!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I absolutely love these pants! Not only are they completely comfortable but they are super cute! I do know about you, but I love being able to wear more feminine like clothes when i'm camping and/or hiking so these pants are perfect. I fit in the size 2 and then run a little big but that's what the draw strings are for on the inside and I love that I can wear so long johns underneath.

Comfortable and flattering!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I have been on the hunt for a good pair of convertible pants for an upcoming international trip where we will be doing a lot of walking/hiking in humid climates. I ordered these in two sizes and kept the 6 (5',130b.) They are super comfortable, lightweight fabric and actually flattering for this type of pant. I have tested the zipper to turn them into shorts and it is very easy to take on and off. These will definitely be my go to pants for errand running Saturdays and outdoor activities. I did notice on the third day worn (without washing) they were stretched out a bit, like mentioned in the other reviews, but this didn't bother me enough to lower my rating. Would definitely recommend.

LOVE these pants!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I just ordered my second pair of these beauties after about 1.5 years of loving my first so much. The material is stretchy, durable, and water resistant - food and water just drips right off. They hold up during consecutive days of use, and though they do get a little baggy after a few days of lunging and playing, the drawstring waist allows for you to keep 'em up between washes. The style is also cute enough that I feel stoked wearing them around town after a hike. Butt is also super flattering! First pair of convertible paints I've found to actually be functional and cute!

Tough guys!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have a few pairs of these pants, I'm still rocking a pair that are 3 years old and have been climbed and hiked in for weeks! I prefer them for hiking rather than climbing, mostly because the seam where the zipper is under the knee really bugs me. I have a 2 regular and am about 120lbs and 5'8" they're a touch too big but I'm incredibly narrow in my hips. The length is perfect! I can't honestly say I've ever used the convertible feature so I don't know how easy they are to zip apart and back together again. All in all a great quality product from Prana as usual!!

My husband loves hiking behind me

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I've probably had at least 5 different brands/styles of convertible pants over the years, and this pair is by far my favorite. Love the real button closure and interior tie, and the fact that the legs are wide enough to pull off over my shoes. They fit pretty true to size for me, though I agree with the other reviewer that they stretch out a bit after a few days of backpacking. I also agree that these pants make my butt look awesome! Seriously, my husband says it every time I put them on. Definite keepers, though I'm bummed mine already have a few pitch stains...the price of loving trees, I guess.

Good but not great.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

These pants are great but rather big on me. I'm 5'4" and lots of comments said they were fitting. But I've found that the waist and legs are too big. I have space for leggings under and then some so that's the only disappointment I have. Otherwise, the length is fine, the material is great, and overall they are really comfortable. The pockets are nice too, including the zip pocket on the leg.

I love these

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I love these pants, they fit true to size but do stretch out over a few days of backpacking, however it does have a waist tie (yahoo) I am 5'9 and bought the longs they work great with my boots when backpacking however they are to long and I have to roll them when I wear them with my chacos around town. they have taken a pretty good beating and held up pretty well, I did trip while stepping over trailer hitched up, i had my pants vented I did break off a couple of the zipper teeth, however to my shock they are still working... these pants look great, many of my other backpacking pants I HATE how they make my butt look, it just looks big and old LOL (ok so it maybe it is) but in these pants i don't feel like i need to walk to in the back of a group. I just hope that these go on sale so that I can buy a few more colors.

Responded on

I just wanted to add I just got back from my best friends place and I had these pants on and she was like omg I love these pants... later she's like ya know I have to get a pair of these your butt looks really good
