    Stay cool, literally.

A favorite among climbers and yogis alike, the prAna Men's Mojo Short brings big-time comfort to complement your balanced chi. The lightweight polyester fabric wicks moisture when you break a sweat, and it dries quickly after a quick dip in a cool mountain stream. Mesh-lined pockets reduce weight and increase ventilation, while the soft-brushed waistband offers all-day comfort.

    I love these shorts!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

I wear them all the time. Chilling at home, climbing at the gym, back packing, swimming, music festivals, hiking, everything.

I am 6'2" weigh 190 lbs and have a 33 waist and a good day. The large fits great.

    Unfortunate sizing change

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium

I've owned 4 or 5 pair of these shorts and love 'em for hiking and trail running, especially in warm weather. Recently ordered new ones in the medium size I've always worn, but apparently Prana changed the sizing and cut because the waist was too big. Exchanged them for smalls and was disappointed again because the length of the waistband to crotch is too short and tight. Now my favorite outdoor shorts are unavailable to me due to sizing changes. When I called customer service for the exchange, the person I talked to said she'd been hearing complaints from people about the sizing changes, so it's not just me.

    Terrible Re-design

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XS

I very write reviews that are this strongly worded. I have never been more off put by the re-design of any item as I was this one.

Don't bother with these. These shorts have shortened about 2 inches in each size. The waistband, as all other have said, has cheapened in quality. I won't speculate as to why this is but I've heard rumors of an acquisition of the company by a larger outdoor retailer. Clothes are made to fit. Just because a fabric is suitable for active use, doesn't mean the product has all the requisite qualities to be best in its class. I agree with the fact that these tend to actually run a bit larger than they used to in the waist, and shorter in the legs. The XS literally barely made it mid-way down my thigh.

If you're going to buy a company, don't change one of their most popular offerings. Very, very disappointed.

    Amazing short, odd sizing.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: XS

For years these have been my go-to short, they are comfortable, quick-drying, and versatile. I wear them from the climbing gym, to the pool afterwards, and then downtown to end the day. However, somewhere along the line prAna changed up the sizing and it is all wacked out now. I originally wore a medium, but now I'd down to XS and they are much shorter, which is disappointing. The change in sizing didn't detract from the overall versatility of the short, but it did make it more of hassle to fit and size.

Don't let the sizing get you down, these shorts are well worth it because you can do anything in them! I would still highly recommend them.

    Obesity Sizing

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: M and L

These used to be my favorite shorts, hands-down. I'm an avid climber and these were pretty much the only shorts I ever wore climbing. I've owned several pairs, all in size Large, purchased a few years ago. My waist is 31" so in terms of waist size, a Medium may have suited me better. However, the elastic waist on the Large fit me just fine and I preferred its longer length (I'm not a "short shorts" kind of guy).

Fast forward to this year when I decide it's time to get some new Mojo shorts. I have a bunch of these shorts in Large that I love so I should just order them in Large, right? Wrong. The Larges were huge - they'd literally almost fall off me if I simply moved around a bit.

So I decide to order a Medium, and while those don't fall off, they still fit too loosely. The last thing I want to be thinking about while working my project is whether my shorts are going to stay on. To make things worse, the length is much shorter than it used to be. In this new sizing paradigm, my waist size probably warrants a Small, but given that the length on a Medium is already too short, I see no point in trying a Small.

It's super disappointing that a brand like Prana would succumb to such egregious vanity/obesity sizing. Seriously, Prana, have you ever seen a halfway serious climber who is obese? I'm actually more built than your average climber (I like to lift weights, what can I say?) and if a Medium is too big for me, something's wrong.

Prana has clearly strayed far from their roots and have lost me as a customer. I was initially going to give these shorts one star, but they admittedly are not quite deserving of the "straight up sucks" requirement that one star represents. I'm thus giving these shorts two stars as they are definitely NOT RECOMMENDED.

    Use for EVERYTHING

    • Size Bought: medium

I purchased these shorts as a gift but have received amazing feedback on quality and functionality. He wears these for all types of activities and always is satisfied. Fit runs just a little small. He will definitely have multiple colors in his closet by the end of summer.

    Yogi

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I bought these shorts as a gift but I have a review to share.
"I wanted these to use exclusively for hot yoga and they perform exceptionally better than a regular pair of gym shorts. The material is similar to that of a swimsuit and therefore seems to be able to handle to major amounts of sweat and moisture better than normal gym shorts. The Mixology Gravel is awesome and due to the pockets I could wear these shorts on a daily basis if needed. I am a 5'11" male, 180 lbs, with about a 32 inch waist and the Medium fit great. The only small issue I have with these shorts is that the groin region of the shorts gets a little tight during certain yoga poses."

    Use it for everything

Got these on sale with some funky design and they turned to my most used shorts. Take them to yoga, climb, bed, and gym. They are breathable, light and have stood up so far. Only thing could have made it better was the fit or maybe some stretch material, the waist band is great but it feels close to the crotch and without stretch on the legs material. Or maybe I just have big legs from biking. Still use it everywhere and get compliments on the design.

    The Quiver of One Short

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

The Mojo short is my 'go to' short for everything, from climbing and hiking to hanging around town or traveling. The extreme lightweight, versatility and comfort are incomparable. I use to where the small size but decided to switch to a medium for ease of movement and a longer inseam. I am a 29inch waist and both fit me fine but the medium offers coverage to the knee. One huge feature I love about these athletic shorts relative to others is the pockets, 2 front and one rear with velcro. They are low profile yet still offer storage while on the go. I own a deep monarch pair and a dusty pine pair (shown in photo).

    Versatility!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I use these shorts for everything! Climbing, lifting, hiking, working around the house, or just hanging out. They are super lightweight and comfortable, to the point of I forget I am wearing them sometimes... My favorite part is that they don't look like gym shorts because of the material, and I have worn them around town without anyone asking why I was wearing gym shorts.
The medium fits me perfectly and I have a 33" waist and the thighs of a skier.

    Comfortable shorts!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

I bought these for my son and he just raves about them! (Well...as much as a teenage boy raves about anything other than his snowboard!). Wants me to buy him more. I take that as a good sign! He says the waistband doesn't rub like others he's had.

    Huuuge

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Small

I have a 33 in. waist and had to get a size small for a snug fit in the waist which made the rest of the shorts fairly tight and restrictive. Awesome fabric and colors but weird fit and sizing. Perfectly mediocre.

    Do Everything Short

    • Fit: True to size

Fit great, good pockets, extremely versatile. I use these shorts for everything. Marathon training, paddling, mountain biking, hiking or sitting on the couch. They are extremely durable and wash well. Highly recommend. 6 ft., wear a size 32 waist, and the mediums fit great.

    Prana has changed their sizing

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: XXL

I have 2 pairs of these in XXL ( I have a 38 inch waist). Both have been great and I have absolutely no complaints. In fact they are some of my favorite articles of clothing.

I just ordered and promptly received another pair of XXL shorts that are huuuge. They are much bigger than the other two. Weird. I still like the shorts but I'm not happy with paying for the return shipping. More of a Prana problem than Backcountry. (Maybe I shouldn't have departed from my drab color comfort zone and tried for the electric green...could it be god's way of telling me something?)

    Great Shorts

Nice super light and quick drying shorts. I have used them for summer climbing and hiking. Very comfortable with the elastic waist band. You nearly notice you are wearing them.

    All around beaters.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got these for climbing and ended up also using them for hiking, trail running, weight lifting, lounging, wading in water, and in the event you need to run to the store for a quick purchase you wont look like a scumbag. They seem durable thus far and if they can live up to the Prana Zion pants Ill be happy. They're good for pretty much any outdoor or strenuous activity I've done so far.

Looks like a cool concept, but...any reports on that waistband? Looks like what I'd use for underwear. With no apparent belt provision, that better be one heavy duty elastic there.

The waistband is nice and rather wide so if will hold your shorts up if that is what you are concerned with. Due to it being elastic if you fill the pockets with rocks you may be sporting some crack or lose them completely.... I have bought several of these for the guys in my life and they are all really stoked on them.

Heard great things about these. Sad to find out that the smallest size, XS, is made for a 30 in. waist. Wish I could buy a pair for a 28 in. waist.

Has anyone had these fall off when bodysurfing, diving, swimming a rapid etc..?

My husband has two pairs of these that he uses for climbing and swimming. He's never had them come off while diving or swimming a class II-III rapid. I don't think he's ever body-surfed in them though. These are his favorite shorts.

What type of material is this, is it stretchy?

The material is a 100% lightweight polyester microfiber with mesh lined pockets. In addition to the plush elastic waistband, the shorts themselves also have some stretch. Many people like their soft feel against the skin, versatility and range of motion.

I am nervous. I always wear a 32. I ordered the Medium stretch zion pants and I loved them so much I ripped the tags off and wore them, but now regret it. I have like an inch and a half between me and the pant when pulled. The tab holds them up though. SO my thoughts. Do they run big or small? Mixed reviews here..

I am not sure if you are asking about the Stretch Zion in your post or the Mojo short that this post is attached to. The Stretch Zion seem to run a little bigger, I wear a 30/32 jean and I fit in a small St. Zion. As for the mojo I would definitely size up. I wear a medium in the mojo and I like the way they fit.

Does the waist band stretch out over time? I'm deciding between a large and extra large, both of which fit and stay up, but I'm worried the extra large will stretch over time and not stay up as well.

Will Backcountry be getting these shorts in other sizes (smalls and mediums) any time soon? I'd rather get them here than anywhere else, you know. Thanks in advance!

Do these have a drawstring or anything to stop them from coming off when you dive in the water? If not any other suggestions for a do it all short that would work in this setting (hiking, climbing, swim/surf)? Thanks!

Nope, gotta put your faith in the elastic band on these puppies..so if you want to wear them on land and sea they'll be great..if you dive however, well I just don't recommend doing that in these, unless you're going for the exhibitionist look when you emerge from the depths..sans Mojo shorts. For something like that you might be better off w the Stretch Zion, a cotton blend that will still dry pretty quick. Take a look:
