Seem great but a little short

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 2

After hearing so many people rave about these pants I had to give them a try! I got the Coal in a size 2R usually wear a 26/27. While they fit fine in the waist/butt they are just a smidge small length wise. I am a taller girl and since they are a wide leg fit, the shortness is more noticeable on me. I haven't decided if I will return them yet or size up to a tall.

    Wonderful!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought these for a friend and this is what she had to say.

" I am a big fan of these pants. They are comfortable and perfect for outdoor activities, especially rock climbing and hiking. I like the charcoal color, it goes well with a lot of things. They only thing I would change about the pants is how wide they are at the bottom. But besides that they are wonderful pants and I would purchase more. "

true to size for curvy body type

I listened to reviews that halle pants run big... not for me. I would say that these pants are true to size. I have small waist, wider hips and I usually wear size 6 pants and should have bought size 6. Size 4 is going back:( I could put on size 4 pants, just didn't look pretty. Material is good and I like style and all details.

    Great pants!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 6 short

Fantastic material, great colors and durability. My only regret with these pants are the pockets. Love the back pockets, enjoy the side pocket despite how hard it is to get things in and out of without everything falling out. The front pockets are a bit too shallow for my small hands and there is no way to carry a phone with these pants. Other than that, they are perfect. They definitely run large. I'm 5'4" 120 lbs with boy hips. I like to wear my pants loose and low, but a 6 in these is too loose and low but with the handy internal tie string they work and are crazy comfortable. Even too big the butt still doesn't look saggy, really well designed even for those of us with a tiny bum! These 6 short are a little long on me still, but due to the aforementioned wearing loose and low. Size 4 short on order! Can't go wrong with Prana and definately not Halle pants. Have the shorts as well, long but excellent.

    Perfect pants!

Finally a pair of hiking pants made for small girls with small butts, who love to move, and look great while moving. Finally! The material is durable and I like that they are resistant to water. Great pants! I bought the shorts that were on sale. I'm very happy with my purchase. I also love that the length comes in short. And Backcountry is the only place I'll buy my stuff! Just saying.

    Favorite pants ever!

Hands down my favorite pants ever! I have them in 3 colors now. The green and black are my favorite. They are so comfortable and can be dressed up or down. I also like how they are adjustable length and can be shortened into capris. I hate wearing pants but love these!

    Go-to Hiking Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large

These fit a bit bigger than being true to size. Color is a nice steel blue. These pants kept me warm all day long in cloudy / rainy weather. Even wore during the night sometimes in 40 degree weather. Great for layering and wearing a pair of shorts underneath. Material is very comfortable and forgiving. Perfect for lounging and moderate activity. Cuffed capris were convenient with the warm weather and great for day hikes! Versatile pants, and would definitely recommend.

These pants are fantastic! I wear them everywhere, everyday and in all of the colors. I can wear this climbing, to school, to work and if I feel like getting fancy in town I can pull that off in these pants too! Honestly the best pants I have ever worn.

I saw my brother wearing the mens version a few years ago and knew I wanted them...now every member of my family owns at least 1 pair.

Size wise I'd say they do run way big, I usually wear like a 4 (I think...it's been so long since I've bought any pants but these) and my favorite fit in these is a 0 short size which feel like they were tailored for me. I can also wear a 2 short or regular inseam but I don't like that fit as well, they are little bit baggy and too long except with taller shoes.

The buttons must be sharp on the inside or something because I have had to sew the top buttons back on on a few pairs but it's a price I am willing to pay.

In short, get these pants and you will never go back.

Makes me look like a great gift giver

I gave these as a gift to the lady in my life and she loves them! Great fit, awesome fabric and they wash very well. Highly recommended to active women everywhere. (...and she's picky)

The Prana Halle long pant was a big hit for me. I love the cargo green color, and the fit was perfect. I do wish the pockets on the front were deeper. I like the belt loops so I can wear a wider belt. Very comfortable and stretchy. Size 12 is only a little large on me, 5"7", 161 lbs, but the inside tie helped them fit a little tighter. These pants worked great for me, and I used them to fish, hike, and back pack in the Colorado mountains. They stayed warm during the cool thunderstorms, and rain repelled off of them well. They didn't get too hot in the hot sun. The stretch is great for a more sexy hiking pant. The flare at the bottoms was just right to fit over my Hoka One One hiking boots. Also the pant is easy to pack and very few wrinkles.

    Pocket size changed!

I've owned these pants for a few years now, and I've always loved them. They're light weight, comfortable, stretchy for my curves and can handle any activity I've done in them. The only thing I've always wondered about was the cargo pocket size. It was so tiny it really only fit chapstick for the most part.

I bought a pair recently for an upcoming backpacking trip and when trying them on, I noticed that the cargo pocket is bigger. It's not quite big enough for a phone, but it will definitely fit more than just a chapstick now.

Yay prAna for improving my favorite pants!

    Not as good as Zion

So I had these for a year for hiking and climbing. They stretch so you get a full range of motion and they're lightweight so you can almost forget about them-a mark of great outdoor clothing. However, they lose a star just for being so inferior to the Zion Pants. I had bought Zions for my boyfriend and the pockets on the Halle Pants are just not good enough by comparison. I once dropped my wallet by the side of the road when peeing and had to drive 30 minutes back to find it. The cargo pocket will not hold a phone. When it came time to replace them, I tried on the Zion. They're so much better! Unless you're going to a fashion show, or you weigh under 110 pounds, at least try on the Zion. I am 5'5, 125. I was 2S in the Halle and am usually 2-4 short or regular in women's Prana. The 28x30 Zion are on the big side, but they work for hiking and climbing and I can put my phone and compass in the cargo pocket, out of the way of my harness.

    No high waters!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 4 tall

I was first introduced to these pants by being gifted a pair by a friend. They were a size 8 regular (way to large and short) but I wore them on a couple climbing trips with the legs rolled up to try them out. Thankfully they come with a drawstring so they didnt fall off of me completely. I ended up falling in love with them and decided to order a properly fit pair when I discovered that they come with a 36 inch inseam!

Ordering a size 6 turned out to be a mistake. They were still far too large (even with a winter legging underneath) so I had to return them. I have since gone down to a size 4 tall and they fit perfect. I wear a size 6 in the Kara jean, so these do run quite large. I can still get my winter legging under the size 4 and they have tons of stretch, which is great if you plan on climbing in them. High steps and stemming will not be a problem.

The fabric is super tough and durable. Backpacking in for alpine climbs and squeezing through off widths will not ruin these pants. I love how quickly they dry and they breathe fairly well.

I gave the original pair of pants to my mom and they fit her perfectly. She is 5'4" and is wearing a size 10 or so in regular clothes. She also commented that she was able to wear them to work. Her office has semi strict dress codes, but she was able to dress them up enough to pass them off for dress pants! WINNING!

    great

I love these pants! They are so versatile and comfortable. I've worn them in the office, in the field (marine scientist), hiking, camping, etc. I'm thinking of buying more colors. I have a hard time with pants due to a small waist and larger quads (thank you mountain biking!). Prana has a fit that is perfect for my body type and the pants are so flattering on!

Customer service at Backcountry is excellent! I bought the Halle pants in the charcoal gray and green colors. Both were size 8, yet the charcoal gray were significantly larger on me. They sent me another size 8 AND a size 6 and took the other size 8s back - all with free shipping. Turns out that particular pair was just sized incorrectly.

    Style and Utility

Finally, a pair of hiking pants that fit oh so perfectly! Not to mention, they're actually pretty cute. They sit low enough that there's no gap between the pants and my back but high enough and stretchy enough that I'm not worried about becoming an exhibitionist while I'm making a high stride up a cliff. I have thick legs and a smaller waist, and I'm generally between a size 6 and 8. The 8 hit higher and was slightly bigger in the waist. Legs seemed to fit the same.

    Holy Grail!

These pants (I kid you not) I wear for all things outdoors and casual.
They are the perfect stretch for climbing and hiking, and the forest green color is great for casual wear around downtown.
They are extremely breathable and the pockets are a great mesh material used for easy in and out.
Overall a great pant for every day use!

Is size 0 only available in Tall? How does the sizing & fit compare to the Kara jean?

    Hey Chelsea,

The fit of the halle is more relaxed compared to the kara. The kara is also a little more vanity sized (runs one size smaller) so I would think that the Halle runs true to size and more relaxed.

    Thanks!
