Comfy and Durable!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

These things are money! They are the best of both worlds. The material is very soft and comfortable. They are also extremely durable. I have just used them a few times but I am sure these will last for a very long time.

Jewel of the Nile

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 6' 2"
    Weight: 185 lbs
    Size Purchased: 33

I've been looking for a new pair of climbing shorts over the last week. I've been to all of the major outdoor retailers in my area and literally tried on almost 2 dozen pairs of different shorts. Finally I tried the Bronson and found the trifecta. Fit, style and freedom of movement. I'm actually wearing them as I'm writing this review. :-) I already know they're going to be my favorite "everything" short. Climbing, biking, going out, etc. Thanks Prana! Also Backcountry for the great prices!

Good quality but fit poorly

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 6' 2"
    Weight: 190 lbs
    Size Purchased: Large

I purchased these as well as the prAna Zions short having never purchased anything from prAna. Ultimately they'll be for hiking but my first experience with them has been to wear them around town.

The quality is great. The only issue I had with them is the fit to my particular body type. I'm 6'2", 190 and ordered a Large. On initial wearing they fit well at the waist but were a little tight through the hips. The flex of the shorts are great but they have started riding up in casual motion.

I've returned these shorts and ordered another pair of the prAna Zions short which fit much more comfortably for my build.

A fine pair of shorts

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

They feel great and wear great. They got good elasticity to them and move with you not against you. I'm a size 32-33 waist and got the 33's and depending on the day I usually go with a belt to keep them where I want them. A 32 would have been perfect, but no complaints, they are a quality pair of shorts, well made and solidly stitched.

Great shorts.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The small amount of stretch in the fabric goes a long ways with these shorts. They are very comfortable and have held up really well to a full summer of use. Easily my favorite pair of shorts.

Durable, soft, and classy.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The Prana Men's Bronson Short is strong for rock climbing, soft for casual days, and stylish for just about any occasion. I've taken it up offwidths without a tear, on the sofa for a comfy nap, and to bars for a lot of nice compliments. I guess you just can't go wrong with triple-reinforced organic cotton.

Perfect for just about everything.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Just picked up my second pair of these, and I know they will be my go to short from now on. Not too long, not too baggy, with a true to size fit ( I got these in my normal 34 waist and wear them without a belt ). Classy enough for dinners and outings ( looks awesome with a button up ), and rugged and enough stretch for a day of climbing. Prana is slowly taking over my whole wardrobe. They do it right.

they run big

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

I'm a 33 waist 99% of the time. I need a belt with these. Not important enough to return, but to order again I'd get a 32.

Otherwise, love em.

I am worried about the waist measurement. I wear a 34 inch Columbia shorts with the side elastics stretch band. I wear a 35 inch waist band so what should I order with these shorts. Hate big bulky shorts.

Good Shorts... But Rivets Will Scratch

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The Bronson shorts are one of my favorite pairs of casual shorts. Like most Prana products, they are very durable, have a bit of stretch to the fabric and intelligently-placed pockets. My one complaint about them is the riveting on the seat of the pants. As you can see in the detail pictures above, there are small metal rivets on both sides of the back pockets. *Be careful: these rivets will scratch chairs and leather seats. I have matching gashes in my wood dining room chairs from scooting back.

How low would the legs come down on a 6'3"...

How low would the legs come down on a 6'3" body?

The bottoms of the legs would sit just above your knee depending on how you wear your shorts.

My favorite pair of shorts!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

First the fit is awesome, not too baggy, not too tight and they fit comfortably around the waist. The fabric is durable but remaining very supple and lightweight enough to wear without a belt. The pockets are deep and will hold your essentials safely while hiking or climbing about. I wear these every day!

25.4 cm Inseam = 10'' Inseam

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Just an FYI.

Also, these shorts have a really solid button (not a snap) for securing the waist. Also, the stretch in these and the length make them great for hiking and messing around on rock. When you're not out in the great outdoors, their smart and clean presentation will make them suitable for a first date, family party, etc..

Is the waist size of the Prana shorts ...

Is the waist size of the Prana shorts true to size? I'm a size 35,
also is there much shrinkage

Responded on

I have found that Prana pants tend to run a bit large personally, I wear around a 30 in their pants and shorts, but around a 32 in everything else. I would expect the 34 to be a good fit for you.

Im 5'10' & 135lbs. How is the sizing.? I got some Patagonis shorts in 28 and the fit good. Should I go with the 28 or the 30 with a belt.?

I usually like to go with a belt, that said Prana pants I find tend to be pretty true to size, even a bit large. I'm a size 34 and I fit into the medium which is supposed to be for a 32 - 33 inch waist. Prana also makes shorts that stretch like the Zion (which i love). The good thing about that short is that it already has an integrated belt that you can cinch down

great shorts

I have these shorts in a few different colors and they are my go to casual short for the warmer months. Durable without feeling boardy, stretchy and super comfortable.

New favorite shorts!

Great fit, great length and look great. I just bought one pair, and now I am going to buy all of the available colors. You won't be unhappy with your purchase- if you are there might be something else troubling you.

Great shorts

I am wearing these right now. They are great. A durable material mixed with some stretch make them comfortable and great for getting climbing etc.

Prana lists these as 98% cotton / 2%...

Prana lists these as 98% cotton / 2% spandex. But this site says they are 100% cotton. Just wondering which one is correct. I have some older ones that are the 100% cotton, but I like the newer ones with a little spandex in them. Don't want to order the older version.

Responded on

These are the cotton/spandex blend and are all 2012 inventory. We'll get the spec corrected.
