The prAna Brion Shorts utilize crazy-tough nylon to keep you covered in outdoor conditions where cotton might rip, tear, or just leave you feeling sweaty or soggy. Durable construction means these shorts will stand up to desert excursions and deep-forest bushwhacking. Plus, thanks to their laid-back five-pocket design you'll look good when you're hanging out around town, too.

    • Abrasion-resistant, quick-drying nylon can stand up to aggressive encounters with rock faces and tree branches while a bit of Lycra adds flexibility
    • DWR finish repels moisture so you won't get soggy in a drizzle or get stained if you spill your beer on yourself
    • Standard fit is balanced, not too tight and not too baggy
    • Five-pocket styling with rivet reinforcements adds a classic look

    My Dad's new favorite!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Got these as a gift for my dad and he absolutely loves them. I have been wearing the Stretch Zion shorts for years and he had mentioned wanting something with the same fabric but without the cargo pocket and a shorter inseam. The Brion shorts fit the bill perfectly and he says they are perfect for the heat of the Texas Summer. They have great stretch, are really lightweight, and are super durable.

If you haven't tried the Stretch Zion Fabric then you are truly missing out. If you have any questions about prAna clothing please contact me directly.

a bit slimmer than the zion

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

Same shorts as the zion except a little shorter and tighter fit. No small cargo pocket like the zion either.

    Great Versatile Shorts

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32

Highly recommend...these shorts work as casual dress or for physical activity/hiking. I like the fit a lot - they aren't too long and they aren't too baggy. A fairly tailored fit, but given the spandex/stretch component, they never feel tight or restrictive.

I picked up a few pairs of these for backpacking/day hiking. I absolutely love them. Lightweight, breathable, dries quickly and have a great fit. They come down just shy of your kneecap. They've also got some good flex to them for making more athletic maneuvers, should you need to. Great price point for a great product. Fits true to size.

The Brion is one of my favorite shorts. From it's sleek look and high functionality, I use the Brion while climbing, hiking or playing in the outdoors and can wear it straight out to a restaurant or party and not worry about looking like a total dirtbag. The Mojo is one of my other favorite shorts from Prana but the heavier, abrasion resistant nylon in the Brion holds up a lot better for certain activities that demand more. As with the Mojo and Zion, the Brion is quick-dry and stretchy. The inseam length is shorter than that of the Mojo and definitely the Zion. I own the Brick color and really dig having something atypical of the 'go-to' khakis and navys.

Loved the pant, got the short

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

    • Size Bought: 30

These are a good length in my opinion, above the knee but not crazily so. Great fit, stretch, and style. Loved the Brion pant so picked up a pair of these and they are just as nice for those warmer days.

    Awesome shorts

I'm notoriously picky about my clothes and when I find something I like I buy a bunch of that item before the manufacturer blows it and redesigns it. The Zion short is one of those items. I currently own 5 pairs, 2 of the previous design with 2 thigh pockets instead of 1 and 3 of the new style. This is a great pair of shorts for hiking and I use mine over a pair of bike shorts for that "not a road biker" look when mountain biking. They dry quickly, stretch when needed and look good with a polo or a button down for a casual night out during the summer. You cannot go wrong with these. Note, the inseam falls right on my knee, which might bother some people, but I think it's great.

      First Impression Good

I have only had them for 2 weeks but my first impression is vary good. The issue that i have had with "climbing" shorts in the past is that they dont stretch and wear out way to quick for a short that is meant to be warn climbing. These have the stretch and feel like they will be able to hold up to some simple craging and gym climbing just fine.

fit: shorter inseam then I was expecting, true to size.

      Amazing is not sufficient enough.....

      • Size Bought: 36 Short

I am short and stocky and at 5'8in and 210lbs I wear 36x30 and not much fits good on me. I have the Prana stretch shorts which are 12in inseam but these are just perfect at 9in. They fit right at the knee and look casual for outdoor wear or perfect for the beach or just so darn comfortable you just want to lounge in them all day. I already knew Prana stretch is awesome but these shorter 9in inseam variants are just perfection. Great for afternoon parties, beach, ect...can dress them down or up like some good jeans per say.

      Good Lightweight Short

      • Size Bought: 38

Comfortable shorts made of a nylon blend that stretches with you. Blue jean color is more of a teal, not likely to be mistaken for jeans. All summer I wear these or my Zion shorts. Prana makes my favorite pant/shorts.

      Perfect lightweight comfortable short

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 34

These run a touch smaller (34) than prAna's 'Large' pants/shorts though their sizing guide says they are equivalent. Great short overall that are lightweight and help keep you cool. Enough stretch to move with you without ever pulling on you or restricting movement. Length is just above the knee.

      Perfect shorts for all occasions.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought these shorts recently on a whim because my wife likes Prana stuff so I thought I would give it a try. I went with these shorts is that they do not have pockets on the sides of the pants and could be worn somewhere nice with a collared shirt. I looked at the bronson short but it seemed pretty stiff and more of a casual pair of shorts. These shorts are perfect for me because they are an extremely soft nylon and are very breathable. I run really hot and these keep me from getting clammy. Another feature I like about these are the tougher material that reinforces the zipper and fly. When standing up straight the bottom of the shorts sit right at the top of my knee caps. I ordered the dark khaki and it came in a little darker than what is pictured above. More brown than the desert sand look of the picture. In my opinion, it looks better than what is pictured.

      Perfect shorts for all occasions.

      Super Comfortable

Never had a pair of shorts more comfortable than these. With I had bough two pairs! I'm 5'6 and picked up the size 33. The length is perfect. Highly recommend them.

Liked them so much I bought a second pair. Great casual fit and perfect cut. I'm 6'2" and they fall just above the knee. Great for hiking, mountain biking (lots of stretch!) or even a round of golf at the country club. Fairly quick drying too if you end up taking a dip. Very durable material too. Can definitely handle abrasion from hours in the saddle or rock scrambling.

      Addictive.

I bought both the Brion short and pants for my husband. It's all he wants to wear now and all he wants me to buy. He used to love the zion, but these are so light and versatile that he is getting a bit addicted. I still buy him the zion pants for those really slabby, scrape against the rock climbs, but the Brion is a seriously comfy pant and perty darn durable as well. He is a size 32 and the 32 fit just great.

Short and strong, just how I like shorts

The Prana Men's Brion Short can't die. I've taken it up offwidths, on steep trails, and on walks with my dog. They seem to come out of any situation without a tear. I like the gusseted construction and the short inseam so I can step without the fabric pulling at my thigh.

      I'm hooked.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

Let me begin by saying I am officially a Brion shorts junkie. I bought these because the inseam was smaller than most men's shorts these days, and I hate shorts that ride over my knees. Turns out my intuition was correct (I don't know measurements well and have no fashion sense). I'm quite lean, am 5' 10" tall, and the Brion short sits comfortable an inch or two above each knee.

Not knowing what to expect from this short, I am extremely glad I gave them a try. I have ended up liking them so much that one pair was not nearly enough. I bought 4 more pair in the other two colors, and to be honest I will undoubtedly buy even more. I ended up wearing the one pair so often I wasn't even washing it and would pull it out of my dirty clothes hamper to wear it again the next day (don't tell anyone!).

So what do I like? For one, they are incredibly comfortable! The addiction of lycra makes the Brion short form to your legs and regardless of how you flex or bend you do not feel inhibited or constricted. Prana, being a company that produces yoga gear, might have had this in mind. I practice yoga myself sometimes and it's great not having to chance into different shorts for postures. The fabric is soft and pleasing to the touch, which may or may not affect your ability to attract the opposite sex. I wouldn't bank on it necessarily.

The Brion shorts breathe extremely well. Being a thin and flexible short you will need to keep your man junk safe from unnecessary impacts, but otherwise the goods tend to stay nice and dry. This was noticeable while I exercise. The short has survived lengthy rides on a bicycle in humid weather without getting drenched in sweat. Pair these with quality underwear and you're golden. The sizing is very close. I normally wear 32, sometimes with a belt or drawstring, and 32 fit very close to what I needed.

I should add that the short will shrink slightly after machine washing. I bought a size 32, but could easily get away with a 30 due to their stretching ability. Turns out after washing them a bit they fit even better than before, and now my oldest pair fits to my form better than when I first bought them!

The colors available are limited, but being an earthy kind of guy and a true minimalist, I have no complaints with aesthetic. Once they shrink and fit a little tighter around the legs you can pull them up on the glute muscles for a more modern, man's short short look (see the Patagonia Stand-up Short for reference).

If I had any complaints at all about buying the Brion it's that after repeated abuse a tiny loop of fabric has appeared on the short. It looks like the fabric is coming loose but is very tiny and strangely has not seemed to get worse. I accidentally stabbed myself in the leg with a utility knife and I think the damage was my own fault anyway.

The Brion is not terribly cheap like most Prana apparel, but i'll be damned if that's going to stop me. Price be damned I would stop at nothing to acquire a set of these for daily wear. I don't care if they were double the cost. I've bought 5 pair already and plan to buy 5-6 more for no other reason than to always have a fresh pair on hand without question.

Sorry for the long eye-sore of a review but i'm a Brion junkie and had to get some things off my chest..
