The prAna Brion Shorts utilize crazy-tough nylon to keep you covered in outdoor conditions where cotton might rip, tear, or just leave you feeling sweaty or soggy. Durable construction means these shorts will stand up to desert excursions and deep-forest bushwhacking. Plus, thanks to their laid-back five-pocket design you'll look good when you're hanging out around town, too.
- Abrasion-resistant, quick-drying nylon can stand up to aggressive encounters with rock faces and tree branches while a bit of Lycra adds flexibility
- DWR finish repels moisture so you won't get soggy in a drizzle or get stained if you spill your beer on yourself
- Standard fit is balanced, not too tight and not too baggy
- Five-pocket styling with rivet reinforcements adds a classic look

- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
Let me begin by saying I am officially a Brion shorts junkie. I bought these because the inseam was smaller than most men's shorts these days, and I hate shorts that ride over my knees. Turns out my intuition was correct (I don't know measurements well and have no fashion sense). I'm quite lean, am 5' 10" tall, and the Brion short sits comfortable an inch or two above each knee.
Not knowing what to expect from this short, I am extremely glad I gave them a try. I have ended up liking them so much that one pair was not nearly enough. I bought 4 more pair in the other two colors, and to be honest I will undoubtedly buy even more. I ended up wearing the one pair so often I wasn't even washing it and would pull it out of my dirty clothes hamper to wear it again the next day (don't tell anyone!).
So what do I like? For one, they are incredibly comfortable! The addiction of lycra makes the Brion short form to your legs and regardless of how you flex or bend you do not feel inhibited or constricted. Prana, being a company that produces yoga gear, might have had this in mind. I practice yoga myself sometimes and it's great not having to chance into different shorts for postures. The fabric is soft and pleasing to the touch, which may or may not affect your ability to attract the opposite sex. I wouldn't bank on it necessarily.
The Brion shorts breathe extremely well. Being a thin and flexible short you will need to keep your man junk safe from unnecessary impacts, but otherwise the goods tend to stay nice and dry. This was noticeable while I exercise. The short has survived lengthy rides on a bicycle in humid weather without getting drenched in sweat. Pair these with quality underwear and you're golden. The sizing is very close. I normally wear 32, sometimes with a belt or drawstring, and 32 fit very close to what I needed.
