Oddly roomy through the hips?
(wrinkled because it arrived rolled up)
A-line, Runs big
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs large
5'2", I'm on the low end of Prana's XS size chart and found the XS to fit a little too loosely. Skirt sits comfortably at my low waist, but is too full through the hips for my liking. The picture of the skirt in Ivy on the model makes it look like more of a straight cut (was hoping for that!), but I would call it A-line. The XS measures 14.75" across at the waist, unstretched. Bottom of skirt is 21" across. Length down the front center is 14.5", a little longer down the back center seam: just under 15.5". Like the ivy color, the lightweight fabric and comfortable waist band, but it's not the cut I was looking for. I'd say it runs a half to a full size large, so if you're on the low end, order down a size.
Great summer skirt
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
I'm 5'8, 137 and bought the small. It's perfect. I wear it all the time to anything casual on the weekend. I bough the black because I was afraid of sweat marks mentioned in other reviews and the black shows no sweat. I've worn it to ball games, the pool, SUP, and just all day around the house. I imagine this will be a go-to for years. It's pretty short, too short for even a casual office.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I love the bliss skirt and skort! They are perfect for traveling and casual wear. This bliss has a DWR coating so if you spill water it will bead and flick off, the skirt dries crazy fast! The hand pockets will hold a iphone but be warned the phone does fall out easy. It funny how this skirt doesn't wrinkle, I am constantly wearing this skirt and I have never seen a wrinkle. It's totally a relaxed fit, I am normally a size 0 and the XS is a little big on me. Since there are drawstrings on the wasit, I am able to adjust it well. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase!
LOVE!!!!!!! fyi - shows sweat a LOT
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
5'5", 130lbs, normally wear a size 4 or 6 pant - I bought a medium and a small and I kept the small in the green. So, if anything, the skirt runs a little large. I LOVE this skirt and it fits really well - it is very flattering since it's tight but a good fabric, great short/flirty length (NOT business casual), with the lovely light weight fabric that Prana uses so often. WARNING - if you wear this skirt on a really hot day, and you're sitting on a plastic lawn chair for a few hours in the sun talking to friends - the swamp ass will show a LOT when you stand up again, until it wicks away...which happens quickly, but just letting you know! :) Finally, the dark green looks really good on us olive skin-toned brunettes! Enjoy!
I bought this skirt (purple, xs) and was in love with the colors and style. It's an awesome material and is a tad longer than the Bliss Skort. http://www.backcountry.com/prana-bliss-skort-womens
The DWR coating beads away moisture. Unfortunately I had to return it as the waist was to big, but if it fits you, this is a great buy. It would be great for day hiking or backpacking. It's gorgeous and you'll love it, I'm sure. Prana is a great brand for outdoorsy females, very green company and they provide cute technical clothes. If you have any issues with the items you buy they are super great about their warranty!
Prana Bliss Skirt
Some Prana skorts are advertised as skirts....
Some Prana skorts are advertised as skirts. Is this one a true skirt or a skort?
I have tried this one on, it's a true skirt!
Does the sizing run true to measurements...
Does the sizing run true to measurements stated?
I'd say for this skirt, the sizing runs a little large. My measurements put me exactly at a 0, but this skirt was too roomy in the waist and hips for me.
The nylon/span fabric that makes up the Bliss series is wonderful. I'm so glad prAna decided years ago to not only make the Bliss in a Capri, but also in a skirt, short, knicker and skort! Lots to offer, but there is something for everyone!
I have always been a little bit leery of skirts (and anything, for that matter) that lack any way of undoing the waist band for ease of putting on. Pulling this skirt out of the bag when it arrived, I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to shimmy into it to even try it on. Bracing myself, I pulled it on and, well, it fit. Perfectly.
The drawcord helps pull in the slightly stretchy (yet excellently proportioned) waist and keep everything in place. The length is mid-thigh, and pockets deep enough to put something in without worrying about it falling out immediately.
Great for traveling, the (mostly) wrinkle resistant fabric looked pretty darn good after being pulled out of a cramped carry-on and I was able to brush off the bit of liquid I spilled with no one to notice.
All in all: another great bit of clothing from Prana - the XS fits like a true XS/0-2, but sized for us athletic ladies with a little bit of junk in our trunks. Raspberry is a little bit lighter/brighter than in the photo, but without being Barney the Dinosaur purple.
