    Highly accurate and ultra tough.

The PowerTap GS 24 Hole Straight Pull Hub W/DT Swiss Internals is more robust than ever, thanks to its completely redesigned DT Swiss hub body, with DT Swiss 240 straight-pull shells and DT Swiss bearings for ultra-reliable, smooth-rolling performance. It delivers +/- 1.5% accuracy for precise power measurement when you're training for an upcoming race and maximizing endurance.

Using the same power meter design as the G3, the GS has its electronics built into a removable end cap. This allows you to swap out end caps, should you experience a reading problem, instead of sending the entire wheel into PowerTap for analysis. Furthermore, the removable end cap facilitates easy battery replacement, using a single CR2032 battery that's good for some 300 hours of riding time. More than simply a power meter, the GS Hub measures speed and cadence with high levels of accuracy. It wirelessly communicates with ANT+ cycling computers for real-time analysis when you're riding. Moreover, you can fit the GS Hub with a Bluetooth Smart PowerCap (sold separately) that's compatible with popular cycling apps, such as PowerTap mobile, Strava, and MapMyRide.

    So Far So Good But...

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Had been waiting for this "bullet- proof" Powertap hub with DT Swiss internals for sometime now as have been totally satisfied with all my previous and current DT Swiss hubs. Purchased in Oct., built it up with a Reynolds Assault 40 C/F rim and put approximately 3000 miles of hard riding on it in 3 months. Everything worked flawlessly until a screeching / grinding sound began under heavy torque - much like a BB issue. After servicing the Campy U/T BB cups and removing / cleaning the cassette to no avail, it was traced to a dirty / dry internal free-hub body that would not let the pawls engage sufficiently. After cleaning and lubing, it works perfectly again. I think DT Swiss is notorious for not lubing their F/H bodies sufficiently coming out of the factory I will of course, monitor its long-term performance.

April 2016 Update: I've had to replace the electronics ring twice. Last year (with about 10, 000 miles on the hub) the calibration went awry and Saris replaced the ring. Then within the last month I started to get a battery drain and it was replaced free of charge again. Other than these minor inconveniences, I like the hub (and BTW, the price keeps coming down!)

    So Far So Good But...

Hello, I just inquired on Powertap's website, and they said that this hub (GS) is now compatible with Ant+ and Bluetooth out of the box. The description here however says Ant+ only. Is this GS hub on Backcountry the current model sold by Powertap that is comptaible with Ant+ or Bluetooth out of the box, or is your description accurate and this GS is a previous model that is only compatible with Ant+ out of the box? THANKS!
