You may see a lot of power Meters on race day, but they’re really most useful as a training tool: quantifying your outputs is a surefire way to keep your training on track. That’s the idea behind the PowerTap G3 Alloy Power Meter Wheelset. PowerTap has paired its venerable G3 hub to a pair of Sunringle rims, which aren’t going to win any light wheel competitions, but are perfect for long rides over less-than-ideal pavement and in less-than-ideal weather.
The G3 hub is lighter than the previous SL+ by about 80 grams, and is now ANT+ compatible, so it can send data right to your PowerTap Joule, Garmin, or other ANT+ head unit.
