Description

Replace the sodium your body loses without hauling around a salt lick.

Powerbar's Gel isn't just another form of energy. Along with carbohydrates, it offers electrolytes for enhanced resistance to dehydration during rigorous exercise or competition in extreme conditions. Available here as a Box of 24 Packets, you'll have plenty of fast acting, easy-to-digest, and endurance-boosting energy to see you through training and competition.

Key to Powerbar Gel's endurance enhancement is 200mg of sodium-based electrolyte in every packet. It helps the body efficiently replenish water supply to help prevent dehydration. During intense events, electrolytes are lost with sweat. To ensure electrolyte levels are up, Powerbar gels contain four times as much as its competitors.

The Gel also contains Powerbar's C2MAX formula, an optimized glucose to fructose blend with a two-to-one ratio for efficient and long-lasting energy. The dual-source energy blend helps supply more energy to muscles than glucose alone. In fact, testing by Med Sci Sports Exerc journal as shown this ratio to deliver 20 - 50 percent more energy to muscles, and improve endurance performance by eight percent.

All nine Powerbar Gel flavors are free from artificial flavors and preservatives. Box contains 24 packets

Pretty good, Some more than others.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I won't say the first time you taste the Double Latte or Tangerine that you will be an instant fan. What I have found though is that after the first time you taste it, the second time is easier and by the third you start to make preferences.

I had used Gu for a while, but a buddy threw me a chocolate one of these on a ride. The closest thing i can say is that it tastes like a melted Tootsie Roll. I was in a shop and they had the Double Latte for cheap (like $14/24 cheap) and I figured, how bad can it be? On first taste, it was surprising. Very sweet and very coffee-flavored, not coffee flavor. It's hard to describe. I like it, and will buy it again, but it's not going to be for everyone. The Tangerine on the other hand, that's like straight candy. Maybe by the time I bought that, I was so used to the PowerGel tastes that it was better than i expected, but I thought it was pretty darn good.

Remember to drink water with them.

Bike fuel

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have been using these Powerbar Gels for my commute to and from work, typically downing one right before I leave and I am very happy with the results. I have been doing research into cycling and the metabolic response, and muscle glycogen is the fuel that powers your motor(your body) on your bike, once your body is sapped of muscle glycogen you start to feel the slight burning sensation in your quads, and eventually you end up with sore legs and low energy levels. Enter the Powerbar gel, before you feel the symptoms of low glycogen levels the idea is to supply your body with quick digesting carbs and caffeine, which actually helps your lungs expand more, and take in more oxygen, allowing your body to push more blood to your muscles, supplying them with the quick glucose uptick that will keep you from crashing and burning. I like the taste of the Strawberry Banana, and these are the perfect fuel for a morning commute

Delicious!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I tried these out for the first time last week and loved the Orange Dream flavor. It wasn't too thick to make you crave a drink and went down easy on the run.
More importantly it gave me the boost of energy I needed and didn't make me sick :)

My wife loves these!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My wife is an Olympic athlete that needs constant energy and these do it for her! This allows her to keep her at the level she needs to stay at so she can perform at her best! If you have a hard time keeping your energy through a workout I would recommend this product to keep you in tip-top shape so you can exceed your expectations through every workout!

I prefer the performance bar

It doesn't taste that bad but it is a little too syrupy for me. I'd rather just use a energy powder in a bottle of water. If the packets were half the size it might be better because you'd have to drink a ton of water with one of these to prevent gastric distress but once you open it your kinda committed to finishing it unlike a bar. The apple cinnamon is my favorite but I haven't tried a ton of them.

Works well

These are a great energy booster for running, especially long runs. The taste is alright but I prefer honey stingers. Still a good product just not for me.

Don't love them, don't hate them

I have had the vanilla, chocolate, kona punch and strawberry banana. The vanilla is ok, I like Clif Shots vanilla better, but still not bad. The chocolate is thicker than the others and tastes a lot like canned cake frosting. Not a big fan of chocolate energy gels, but kind of good in a gross way. The kona punch and strawberry banana are neither good or offensive. They are edible but I would choose most other gels over them. I find the energy that Powerbar gels provide is on par with other brands, so no worries there. Mostly the only difference I have found between brands is preferences of color and texture/consistency. I would try to find individual packets of flavors you want to try before ordering entire boxes.

Lighter than most

These are not as thick as some of the other choices out there, making them easier to choke down as you head up your favorite lung busting climb. Great shot of energy, and I actually like the tangerine flavor. Great energy gel choice.

Responded on

I tried the new flavor, orange dream, because tangerine was out of stock. Liked it. Tastes like a creamsicle!

Quick Energy

At the end of a long ride or race, these things are money. Easy to
eat, and you get energy in a hurry. I am not a huge fan of the flavor,
but the effects are noticeable. I use them with Coke Classic and it’s
a great pick-me-up.

Chug it and go!

I like this stuff, I wouldn't drink it for fun but to charge for a run or keep me going it's great. Goes down easier than other gels. I prefer the fruit flavors, especially green apple, raspberry is good too.

2 in the chamber

I always keep 2 of these in all of my packs so I have some energy in case I need it. I'm partial to the Green Apple and Tangerine flavors. They are just fine on their own, better with water, and best drizzled onto a Honey Stinger waffle for a burst of energy and some long lasting power. They tend to flow a bit slowly when it is really cold out but just toss em in your pockets on days like that. PRO TIP: When you are done eating it, roll up the rapper from the opening down so the goop doesn't get into and onto your stuff.

Easy to eat

I've been a GU fan for a decade......a couple of days ago i did a 57 mile run for my 57th birthday and a friend of ming who is sponsored by Powerbar dropped me off a dozen of these gels. They go down 1000 times easier than any other gel i've tried. They have a lighter density and I ended up doing two at a time in the last few hours of the run. I hate trying to get gel out of it's package when it's cold. these things are a dream!!!!!!

Don't Bonk

Taste is pretty good with some of these, the Tangerine being the exception for me, but everyone’s tastes are different I guess. I like the consistency of these, not too runny, but not so thick you have to chew them, like say the ClifBar gel. They have a good variety of sugar and carb, coming in at 25-25 g of carbs, 10g of which are sugars. So a good combo so you won’t bonk out hard quickly.

For long activities I like to jump from no-caffeine to caffeine, not hitting the strong stuff too fast, so I don;t bottom out.
