Ward off the vehicles.
Getting the attention of motorists and others while out on the road is what the Aether Demon Tail Light does best. This incredibly bright, blinking tail light from Portland Design works eschews those clunky alkaline batteries in favor of a sleek lithium-ion battery that charges via USB port.
With a 0.5 watt LED from Nichia, an integrated circuit from Texas Instruments, and four distinct operating modes, the Aether Demon has your tail light needs covered no matter where the road takes you.
The Portland Design Works Aether Demon Tail Light comes with seatpost and seatstay mounts, and the four operating modes (run time) are as follows: Dance (8hrs), Breathe (8hrs), Group Ride (175hrs at 10% power), and Rock Steady (3.5hrs).

- Q & A
Bright Light, Mediocre Mounting System
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
The Aether Demon is a solid performing rechargeable tail light. The unique flashing modes will be sure to catch the attention of motorists. The light is primarily visible from behind but can also be seen from the sides for added visibility. The mount has been adequate so far but leaves a lot to be desired, I had to really tighten down the screw to prevent the light from drooping on rough rides and the plastic doesn’t feel super solid. All in all a good value and a very effective light.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
holy cow this light is super bright, if you every worried about cars while riding at night, get this light and trust me you will now be seen.
its a recharge battery so you don't need to worry about buying your AAA batteries. has multiple light settings so you can change it up. if you do group rides at night there is a setting for that were it wont blind the rider behind you but you will still be seen by the cars.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Here is the good and the bad. Bought this light because it was on sale clips right on to my small bag under my seat. great settings on light. I would buy again. Here's the bad......Lost it last night mountain biking. Forgot to put it in my bag.
