The POC Receptor BUG Helmet rules days on the mountain, offering adjustable venting, bombproof protection and a little style besides. But this helmet ain’t a one-trick pony—the Receptor Bug pulls double duty for summer sports, too. The Receptor BUG’s removable padded inserts take the summer off—leaving the BUG light and cool for summer afternoons at the skatepark. POC’s merged hard-shell and in-mold helmet technologies create an unprecedented double-shell design with an expanded polypropylene liner that won’t weigh you down when wet. The result is a fully customizable, do-anything helmet ready for any for any endeavor in any environment.

Bottom Line: Because having more than one helmet in your closet just don’t make no sense .

Great Safe Helmet

By:
January 18, 2010

This is a fantastic helmet, mainly because it's one of the safest and most protective helmets on the market and protects against multiple impacts. The ear flaps are also very good, and keep your ears warm while allowing you to hear also. Comes with a goggle lock, and a "bankers brim" for some extra style and to block snow on your googles. Fits a little small, I normally wear a medium helmet and had to get this in large. The chin strap also takes some getting used to, but most people don't adjust it that much anyways. Vents also do a great job of keeping your head at perfect temperature whether it's 15 degrees or 50. I wear this with the Oakley Splice and they fit perfectly.

Bankers Brim

By:
January 14, 2012

I was enjoying the prospect of adding some extra style to my mat black helmet. Bought the product retail, removed the tags, and the "Bankers Brim" doesn't fit - or at least not without wrecking the liner. Don’t make my mistake, and defiantly don’t buy the receptor bug helmet on account of the Bankers Brim. Cant be too upset though it is still a very cool helmet.

My go-to helmet for the season. What can I say, I was inspired by Willy Wonka...kept me smiling all winter though!

Great Helmet

By:
July 27, 2010

Good looking and very comfy, fit is a little on the small side but it's a pretty safe bet to go with your normal. I rarely use the liner and my mellon stays plenty warm, the ear pads also keep your ears plenty warm. The finish tends to get scratched up but better the helmet than your head right! Fits good with Oakley Crowbars. Only drawback I can think of is it sounds like your in an airplane when your going fast due to wind noise in the vents.

I haven't actually used this for skiing yet, but have been using it for biking and it's great. No issues at all, POC makes a sick, safe product.

I have a few friends that rock the same setup. They love the POC helmet and have had no issue with the Wisdom frame giving them gaper gap or anything. Hope this helps!

super comfy

By:
January 28, 2010

The poc receptor bug helmet is super comfy and feels great on my noggin. It even doesnt make me feel like a bobble head doll. Perfect amount of venting and with the channels means snow wont hit my head if I accidentally bail. All in all, this helmet is a perfect combination of protection and comfort.

The brim doesn't come attached either, so you always have a chance to opt out if you don't like it.

Good helmet

By:
February 3, 2010

I really like this helmet. It's warm, comfy, and looks good. I ski with the ventilation removed 90% of the time (I live in Jackson for reference) and that works out fine. With the bankers brim installed it's really easy to rest the goggles on that while hiking. The only downside to the helmet, as someone mentioned before, is that the finish gets scuffed up really easily. I've worn mine for about 15 days now and it's already covered in marks, mostly from bushwhacking through branches and shrubs.

Super light, comfy and warm. Only problem is the matte finish on the T-Hall edition marks up real easy. Otherwise sick helmet

Is it bothersome that there is no goggle lock in the back?

Yeah, ^Shane is right about that...those newschoolers really like to rock their helmets that way. I personally don't think the fit is right when I've tried it, but whatever, eh? Anyway, all POC goggles have the sticky rubber on the backside of the straps making the detachable strap holder a non-issue. I used goggles without the glue on the straps with the strap holder, and it wasn't ideal. I'd suggest finding a pair to go with the helmet for ultimate satisfaction.

Most goggles should stay put, especially the ones with the rubber strip in the strap. But I think that POC designed these more for the newschool crowd, that likes the goggle strap under the helmet.

best helmet

By:
January 15, 2010

This is easily the best helmet Ive ever had. I had a smith holt last year but it didnt fit me right. I got this at the beginning of the year and everythings gone great so far. The extra padding is easy to take off and it comes with a goggle strap holder and more padding and stickers. I wear a beanie underneath mine and that keeps my head warm. I havent actually hit my head yet though so I cant tell if it withholds a good beating, but from what Ive heard, its very reliable. I wear oakley crowbars and the fit perfectly with the helmet. This helmet is worth the money, poc knows what they're doing.

This is a great helmet for skiing. Keeps your head warm. The padding takes off easily so that the helmet can fit with your beanie. The strap is really easy to use. It comes with a set of stickers for those who like to personalize there helmet. Fits particularly well with the Lobes google from POC.
