POC Iris X Goggle

POC's treated double lens and excellent frame venting prevent the Iris X Goggles from fogging, so you never have to ride in your own personal whiteout. A cellulose propionate inner lens adds fog-fighting performance and proves once again that POC goes above and beyond the norm. The Iris X Goggles come in two sizes to better fit your face, and the wrap-around design increases peripheral vision.

Bottom Line: POC makes fogged lenses a thing of the past with the Iris X Goggles.

Why bother to show the difference in size between the large and small frames if you don't carry the large size?

Every goggle on the market is designed for small to medium faces. I'm talking frame size, not huge spherical lenses (which are still designed on medium to small frames). Missed niche market sales opportunity in my opinion.

These goggles have been great for me. They've never fogged up, but I'm careful to take them off if I'm going to max out on hiking. They're comfortable and the optics are great (which surprisingly isn't always a given on goggles these days). Also this blue mirror is the best all around lens I've ever had. At first I figured I'd be using different lenses for low light days, but I found my friends would be complaining about vis with their flashy lenses and I'd be just fine. I used this lens all season and loved it!

i bought these goggles last year and really like them. But the coating has suddenly come off in several patches- i think some oil dripped from a chairlift on to them. Can i get a replacement lens?

yes, I would try POC customer service for maybe a warranty replacement fist, but a quick search on google will give you replacement lenses for around $20-25

Blue lens best for brighter days

By:
December 29, 2011

After skiing with the blue lens in all conditions I concluded they just don't work for me at all under overcast skies--which is what the NW has most of the time--but they're good for partly cloudy to sunny bluebird days. So, these weren't a great value in my case. For the price of a replacement lens I can buy a different pair goggles for most of the skiing I'll do. They do look great, and fit a small to medium sized face well.

Hey Frank,

These goggles might not have enough room to squeeze glasses under them, but I'd recommend the POC Lobes for that roomier fit. That or the POC Cornea goggles too.

Too big, but great googles

By:
November 17, 2008

These goggles took me a little while to get used to because they were really big on my face. I think I got them before they came in two sizes. Women should consider getting the smalls. I never had a problem with them fogging up, even when I was hiking.

These are great goggles and super durable. They have held up to many days(30+) spent on the slopes. The Medium size fits well on my 14 year olds face. The neon colors are great and really stand out in white out/ low light conditions as well

Hi Bill,
I have the Skull X helmet and the small Iris X goggle (I'm female) and I've been wearing both for several years now. So the answer is an emphatic YES! Any of the POC goggles is compatible with their helmets. I just purchased a second pair of Iris X goggles from BC since they were on sale and I wanted a backup pair. I love these goggles. Just don't leave them on your helmet when you remove the helmet from your head and you are carrying the helmet:} They will fall off and scratch the lenses or worse, you will lose them. Put them inside the helmet in their bag. The back of the bands on all of the POC goggles has non-skid rubber. This keeps them in place while you are wearing them without a goggle clip. You can still push them up in the front and they will stay in place. But they will definitely fall off the helmet if you are carrying the helmet with them on the helmet. You will love any of the goggles with the helmet. I really like the blue lens that comes with the Iris X.
I had a new pair (one season) of the Zeal photochromatic goggles when I first bought the POC stuff. I couldn't wear them with the POC helmet because they didn't have the non-skid rubber. But I like the lenses on the Iris X much more than the Zeal, and I also like the way they fit my face. Hope this helps.

Racer's choice

By: Backcountry.com Employee
January 20, 2012

These goggles perform very well and integrate perfectly with POC helmets. The frame is pretty flexible so it sits comfortably on the face. The black frame/blue bronze lens is a good all-around choice for a variety of conditions; my son picked up a single lens Iris Comp lens that he can pop in for snowy/cloudy days.
