Description

The ultimate balance of supreme protection, lightweight construction, and adjustable ventilation.

After the wild success of aramid bridge technology in its mountain bike helmets, POC integrated the same technology into the winter Fornix Helmet. Aramid bridge construction offers massive energy dispersion during impact while keeping the helmet shell lightweight and comfortable on your head. As a crowning touch, the Fornix helmet includes an adjustable venting system that pulls hot air and moisture away from your head with lightning speed and ultimate efficiency.

  • Aramid bridge shell construction combines high-tensile aramid strings molded together with an impact-absorbing foam liner
  • Aramid strings add structural stability and allow for maximum dispersion of impact across the entire bridge structure when this helmet takes a hard hit
  • Size adjustment system operates via a twisting dial that either tightens or loosens the inner liner to create the most comfortable fit
  • Sliding vent plate operates the top vents so you can keep them open or closed to regulate temperature
  • Front vents aid the movement of fresh air in and through the helmet in order to keep your goggles fog-free and your head nice and cool
  • Quick-clip buckle and strap are easy to adjust and secure this helmet around your chin

Protect ya Neck!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been wearing this for 2 seasons now, and while I will be retiring it after this month, it has been great to me!

I use the Fornix without the earpiece's, which unfortunately means that I cant use the twisting dial that either tightens or loosens the inner liner, as it is connected to the earpieces. Bummer, but it still offers a great fit for me.

I have used this helmet with many different goggles, but mostly the Smith I/OS, which creates a great fit and does not leave you with a dreaded "Gaper Gap". It also seems to work well with Oakley Splice's.

I've put this thing through the wringer (and plenty of trees) and my brain is still in my head so, there ya go!

Hey Ignat,

There are no RECCO reflectors in this helmet.

Strange.... a couple of days ago I have seen one WITH recco in a POC oficial shop in Europe.... thought of buying it here :/

Anyone used this (or Fornix Backcountry) with Smith I/O goggles? How's the goggle gap?

Responded on

I rock the Fornix with I/OS goggles, which has a nearly identical design, and the gap is non-existent so you should be good with the I/O!

does this helmet have a built-in audio system, or is it compatible with headphones and/or audio ear pads?

Responded on

I don't think this helmet is designed with audio in mind at all. Look at the K2 helmets... their built in audio is quite good.

i JUST RECEIVED A NEW FORnIX HELMET TO TAKE TO JAPAN I CANT WORKOUT HOW TO TAKE THE EAR FLAPS OUT AS THE SIZE ADJUSTMENT PLASTIC STRAP RUNS THROUGH THEM AND THE NECK WARMER PIECE . CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME THE TRICK .
THANKS A LOT

Responded on

The ear flaps, adjustment control, and the neck warmer you are referring to are all connected as one piece. To take it off, grab the ear flaps near where they connect to the helmet and give a firm pull, they will slide out. Do that to both sides and you should be good to go!

Great helmet, limited sizes

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I loved the helmet but my head circumference is 58-59 cm which fell between the M/L and XL/XXL, and neither fit well. Helmet fit is definitely a matter of personal preference but I want a helmet to be snug enough so it won't move around even with the chin strap on the looser side. I found a Giro helmet that fit perfectly - but I wish the Fornix came in a few more sizes.

safe and warm

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love a helmet that feels secure and snug which is how I'd describe the fornix. It's also perfectly warm and has great ventilation when you need it. My mom loved mine so much she bought one also!

Was this the helmet that had the orange graphics on the side? If not, which one was it and are they still available? Thanks!

Responded on

This isn't the helmet with the orange graphics on the side. The graphics on this one are what you see pictured above.

Responded on

Do you know which one has the orange graphics?

Is this for men or women does it matter? I have a Smith helmet size M 55-59 cm. thanks

Responded on

Goodies,
I am happy to say that the POC Fornix is an equal opportunity pow slaying beast of a helmet. Man and women can rock this helmet equally well. You are right in between the medium and large on this helmet, but if you wear a medium in Smith I would go with medium again in the Fornix.

Does this white version have that grey square graphics on the left hand side of the helmet? The version on the POC website doesn't have it?

Can you remove the ear flaps on the Fornix? If so, does it interfere with the adjustability?
Thanks

Responded on

Yes you can remove the ear flaps on this helmet- as far as adjust-ability goes, you will still be able to adjust the helmet to fit just fine, it just may not be as comfortable on your ears.

Are all of the helmets glossy - specifically Black and White?

Responded on

No. These helmets actually have more of a non-grainy matte finish.

Responded on

Actually, I just received the Fornix in black and it's NOT matte; very glossy.

Best helmet ever.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Lightweight. Great ventilation. Protects your noggin. Satsfies everything you could possibly want in a helmet.

Bought a 2nd one

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Liked this helmet enough, that when American Airlines destroyed my first one by squashing my bag, I bought the same helmet again. Comfortable, venting works (though a little stiff to operate) and the goggle attachment strap is robust. I did find that the helmet runs a touch large, and when I bought a new one I dropped down a size from the recommendation (or maybe my head is shrinking).

Does anyone know if the Fornix MIPS version...

Posted on

Does anyone know if the Fornix MIPS version will feel slightly smaller with the plastic liner? This was the case when I bought a POC MIPS bike helmet. So much smaller I had to send it back. I'm holding out for the Fornix MIPS. But I'm wondering if I will need the L/XL?

Responded on

It does have the internal size adjustment too. Unfortunately, it only has a M/L and XL/XXL size designation but I have a pretty large dome and went M/L and don't have any trouble. If you have concerns you can go to www.pocsports.com and use the size chart on the website. Good luck!
