Love this PlatyPreserve. I'm a flight attendant and am always trying to eliminate weight in my luggage. This Platy is so convenient, doesn't leak, wine has no taste, folds up flat when not in use and is very sturdy. I plan on purchasing several for my friends.
So how trailworthy is this product? I'd hate for this thing

If you pack softgoods around it you should be set. I would just invest in a 2L dromlite, that way if you drop it on the ground, it will be a lot stronger than this.

Here the PlatyPreserve is bringing me a little cheer as I sit in my tent soaking wet, cooking dinner while the nearly freezing rain continues to pour outside of my tent.

I paid the same for this as I would have for an extra Nalgene. The benny? After the contents have been imbibed the container rolls up to practically nothing. Otherwise I would be left with an empty Nalgene taking up space. Of course, If I really want to carry 4 qrts of water (2L Camelbak, 1L Nalgene, 1L platypreserve) it can be used for that mundane purpose after the wine (whiskey) is all in my belly!

I've got this product. Only question I have is, besides the fancy printing on the sides and the position of the spout (and a slightly more crinkly feel), is there anything different about the tech of the PlatyPreserve compared to a regular Platy bottle?

Yes! The darker color of the package helps to block out UV rays and the shape makes it easier to dispel the air. The material is the same as the regular Platypus (giving it it's unique ability to preserve wine) and it really works! Just let all the air out by opening up the lid and folding over the top portion of the bottle, then replace the lid. It is the cheapest alternative to preserving an open bottle of wine currently on the market. At the Outdoor Retailer Show, Platypus had a taste test using a freshly opened bottle and one that had been 'preserved' in the Platypus Preserve for a month. Everyone who tried both couldn't tell the difference! It absolutely worked.

I gave this to my mother as a gift. Coming from a family of wine lovers this present was the talk of the party. What can be greater than a bottle of your fav wine camping or at a romantic picnic without the extra 15 pounds of glass?!
