Description

Lose the glass and keep the flavor.

Glass wine bottles are often impractical for backpacking, ski touring, or getting a little boozy at your favorite blues concert. Transport your wine inside the packable Platypus PlatyPreserve, and protect its taste at the same time. Pour your favorite wine into this 5.5 inch by 10.5 inch reservoir, squeeze the air out (air ruins flavor), and seal the airtight cap. Now you can enjoy that just-opened taste days, and even weeks later... and slip past concert security undetected.

I'm a big fan of Cascade Designs' Platypus products and the PlatyPreserve is no exception. I've used mine to transport wine to the backcountry, but it's more frequently used around the house. Unfinished wine into the Platy > cap placed loosely > air squeezed out > cap tightened > wine saved and shared over later days! Recommended.

Platypus PlatyPreserve Rocks!

When you don't want to pack in a bunch of beer due to weight and space, this gives an option other than the flask of spirits. Whiskey around the campfire gets old...Class it up with a bag of wine!

Yes! These are amazing! I've had a dedicated Platypus bladder for wine for a few years, but these let me class it up a little more. Fit in your purse, jacket pocket, etc. Totally can slip past security with these ha!

Does all it claims, easy to clean, simple, light, and suprisingly durable.Only con is the price.
That being said it is a great substitution for a flask which usually run a much higher price.

Apres just got 10 times better.

No need to tote bottles or boxes any more, this fits RIGHT in your jacket for easy access any time of day.

Classy enough to tote to a girls night and not feel like you have to finish the whole bottle.

Now if only this solved the whole uncorking fee at restaurants...

These things are awesome. Each one exactly fits a standard 750mL bottle of wine, and are totally leakproof. I've found them to be surprisingly easy to fill and to pour from, and I haven't noticed any change to the wine's flavor from being in plastic. As long as you squeeze any excess air out of the bag before closing it, you'll be able to keep red wine fresh for at least a week. I even use these around the house to keep a half bottle fresh for a couple days in the rare case that we have wine leftover.

These also work great for your favorite whiskey if you're planning an outing in 'brown liquor weather'

Works great, easy to fill. Folds up once that entire bottle of wine is polished off. Just rinse, dry, and repeat.

Probably that my wine needs know no bounds. I tend to use these when I'm looking to drink some wine in the backcountry rather than at my palatial car camp. They are durable and leak proof. I just tossed them in the top of my pack and they kept my wine fresh for a solid 2 weeks in the high Sierra. Certainly made for a great end of the day. I recommend filling these things with either a funnel or a steady hand (probably before you sampled the wine).

I'm SO glad I found this! For a long time I was using small glass bottles to transport my wine while hiking and camping. Now all my worries of bottles breaking in my pack and dragging around the extra weight are no more! I've even left half a bottle in the bag for 2 days and it still tasted good. I love it so much, I purchased 2 more and even gave some as gifts. My only draw back is it's hard to get all the water out after cleaning it. The package says "clean with water only and tip upside down to dry." Even tipping it upside down for 3 days doesn't get all the water droplets out. Quite strange...but I still love it.

can you re-use this?

Yes, just rinse it out with warm water when you are done. Don't use soap as it may taint any future wine you store in the Platypus.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting the folks at Cascade Designs, Inc. at a Wine Trade Show/Conferene... exceptionally friendly folks who live for the outdoors... they were promoting their PlatyPreserve product and had many of these very "wine bags" full of wine that was more than two weeks old - and it tasted absolutely great - like the day the original bottle was opened!!! For folks who drink wine, you know how fast you have to drink a bottle before the taste starts to be effected by oxidation... with this product, you can open a bottle without feeling rushed to drink it, rest assured that it will be preserved well in this PlatyPreserve for weeks. Also, it is great for outdoors endeavors and takes up considerably less volume than a bottle of wine (BTW, the PlatyPreserve has the capacity to hold a whole bottle of wine!!!), all the while weighing less, is un-breakable and - when the wine is gone - it has essentially no weight or volume at all!!!! Buy one (or four) of these and you can't go wrong!!!!
