  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The size, strength, and durability of these biners make them perfect for toprope master points. The rope runs smoothly through them and they inspire almost as much confidence as steel biners which are substantially heavier. They are an ok belay biner. The DMM Boa is a better choice if you want a large belay biner as its shape resists crossloading much better. I never carry these on trad routes, there are much better lighter weight options like the Attache unless you are climbing in a big group or otherwise anticipate a clusterf*&% at the belays.

Large, bomber carabiner. A little large for belaying, though excellent for doing so. However, its great for setting up top ropes and anchors. I use the screw gate version instead of the Triact. I liked the Triact, I just prefer the simplicity of the screw gate.

This is my go-to carabiner for belay. I got the tried and true screwgate version which operates as smooth as butter.

Exactly what I was looking for. I picked up the Triact version. It's not the traditional self-locking gate locking gate. You have to pull up, twist, then the gate can be opened, which is nice cause I like the additional safety. It does take a few tries however to be able to open it one handed, but it can be done with practice.

I also got the triact for its security. The gate slams shut with a satisfying clink, because of the strong spring, but can sometimes remain ajar if you don't let it shut wih enough force.

It's possible to open the triact gate with one hand, which leaves the other hand free for rope/belay devices. However, I find it a bit cumbersome for normal belaying.

However, it's really useful for setting up anchors, abseils and top ropes outdoors, because you can be confident that the gate isn't going to open.

I got the screwgate one for clove hitching into anchors, and it works a treat. It's large and I can easily clove hitch into 2 anchors, and into 3 anchors with a bit of a squeeze.

I think the carabiner is relatively light for its size.

Big and strong! Thats what you're looking for right?? I got mine with the screw lock. the red paint that says it's locked its sooo nice, I plan to add some nail polish to my other bieners to make them as safe as this.

I use this biner for belaying, I love it. It truly is beefy, but I like that. Is got a lot of room and feels incredibly solid, plus the red paint that shows when it is not locked is a small yet genius touch that I for one really appreciate. Really too large for most other applications that I can imagine, but for belaying, why not?

This biner is big and beefy. It has a noticeable heft to it and feels rock solid. It also has plenty of room and would probably be decent as a main point for big wall climbing (which I don't do, so that's speculation). I bought this after I had an auto-lock belay biner (Omega Pacific Jake) open on me while belaying a partner. Losing faith in auto-locks I feel very confident in the screw-lock version of this carabiner.

The red gate is great for reminding the user to twist the screwlock shut.

My major gripe is just how heavy it is especially since lighter 'biners in this size seem to be rated stronger. The attache is nearly a half oz lighter and big enough for most applications. I see this as maybe excelling in canyoneering, big wall, or rescue work where lots of ropes need to be tied into one spot, but for most it's overkill.

This is a great locker. It never closes so tightly that it will not reopen. Which is nice so i can leave my pliers at home. Gate has a great clearance for easy clipping.
