Keep it simple.

The Petzl Tikkina Headlamp is so light, compact, and inexpensive that you can't possibly justify not taking it with you on any outdoor adventure. With one LED bulb, this headlamp can brighten the way up to 98 feet, and two different modes (switched with a one-push button) let you adapt to situations inside tents, by campfires, or hiking in pure darkness. The housing protects the light from rainy conditions, the elastic headband is a adjustable, and Petzl included three AAA batteries so you can hit the trail right when you get this tiny headlamp. So whether it's a night hike, camping trip, or power outage, the Tikkina has your back.

Good for the money

This is good for the money, but not amazing. Very lightweight, feels a little cheap, but we'll see how it lasts. My biggest complaint though is the button is too sensitive. Several times I've found this turned on in my pack which is a major problem.

Nothing special, but simple and solid

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you just need to see a bit around camp or have an extra light hanging around in your car just in case this is the perfect head lamp for you. Nothing fancy, just reliable light when you need it. Keep this in my truck just in case someone forgets their light or I need to look at something in the dark.

    Good Price, Good Light

I stocked up on a couple of these headlamps for our backpacking adventures. And so far, i have no complaints! These guys give off great light with different settings. You can control where you want the light pointed so you dont blind anyone sitting across from you! Definitely a great purchase.

      Great Value, Basic Headlamp

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

If you just need a basic headlamp look no further. For the right balance of price/quality, and the need to see stuff in the dark, the Tikkina will be an excellent choice.

      Great value

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Tikkina is a great value in small headlamps. For $20 you get a solid light performance and long battery life. This is the sort of headlamp one purchases for mild backpacking, or for keeping in one's car - any dedicated hiker, one who will log miles in the dark.

      Pikachus and Squirtles, mostly

I was hoping to find some extremely rare Pokemon once I started using this functional, lightweight illumination device but so far no Snorlaxes or Porygons but a healthy dose of Pikachus and Squirtles, at least!

From a technical standpoint I don't ask much of my headlamps - be lightweight, be durable, have a rechargeable energy source, and be replaceable. While I don't *quite* hemorrhage headlamps like I do $5 chips at the blackjack tables on Fremont, it's pretty close. And with the Tikkina being just $20 I don't beat myself up or contemplate backtracking twenty miles to the previous days campsite if it comes up missing.

        Batteries corroded headlamp

I purchased this headlamp 2 months ago and used it once on a camping trip over a month ago. I noticed the other day that the batteries that come included with the headlamp had corroded and Petzl warranty does not cover this issue even though the batteries they supplied were faulty. And no, this headlamp did not get wet. Just bad batteries. Worked great up until the other day.

          Envy of all my friends

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Ive taken this thing on alot of trips and every time every comments on how much brighter my headlight is than theirs. For something so cheap I have to say im pretty blown away myself. The batteries last a long time as well! Definitely worth every penny.

          Fantastic basic headlamp!

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a fantastic basic headlamp that 100% gets the job done! It has two settings in terms of brightness and it does exactly what you'd expect. Comes with 3 AAA batteries included which is a nice feature, making it ready to go out of the packaging on that next adventure of yours!!!

          Loved enough to buy two

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Like I said in the title I purchased one, loved it so much that I bought another for my son. They are super helpful around the camp with you need to work with your hands to get a fire started or when you are setting up camp. They are super lightweight and run on convenient AAA batteries which are much easier to switch out then those ones that run off the watch type batteries, so far I have used them for lots of hours and have yet to replace the batteries once in over a year.
