- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Super simple headlamp that works great. The red lens doesn't serve much purpose for me but at the same time doesn't take away from the headlamp.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This is extremely easy to use, light, compact and gets the job done. The red light is great for reading or on buggy nights when the regular light will attract them into your face and surroundings. I was considering getting a more expensive headlamp, but I don't need the brightest most powerful light, I simply need something functional and reliable, and this is it.
Great headlamp for a good price
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This is an awesome little lightweight headlamp for a decent price. I've used it for camping and night running. It is bright and gets the job done. It's been dropped and stomped a few times and still holding strong.
The TacTikka Plus works for me, not to large, the headband is comfortable, not to many fancy features, like operation to be simple. Not to blocky uses three triple a batts. Will carry it in in my pack or use it doing auto repairs. An awsome product for a modest price..
Frustrating red flip lense
Positives: I needed a really bright head torch. The main setting was just that and I was even able to run in total darkness and know where I was going, as well as it staying still on my head. The 2nd lowest setting with the red was good in a tent the 3rd setting or strobe was useless and needn't be included. Negatives: I really liked the option to flip down to the red light yet it was still blinding to others. The major design flaw is the red flip down lens. It was extremely hard to find the top to be able to flip it up or down even with bare fingers- forget about it with cold fingers or with gloves on! this was really disappointing and VERY VERY frustrating.

Nice light for the price

It's an all-around useful little guy. It's light, sturdy, and trustworthy. I use it for early morning, pre-dawn trail runs. It's all that I need, but is often overpowered by the lights of my friends. I've dropped it several times, and it does pop apart, but it's easy to click back together.
Disappointed in color
I have many Fenix LED flashlights, so I'm used to their bright white color. When I turned this headlamp on...the room turned PURPLE! Horrible color LED, I'm not even sure I can use this. I'll try it outside in the dark and maybe update my review, but I doubt it. Still giving 3 stars for the comfortable fit and amount of light output.
I am a first time buyer of headlamp and bought this based on reviews I saw on backcountry.com...really like it and it works perfectly. Easy to use, good quality & brings enough light for me when running at night.
Button for light on and off very difficult to use. i asked a very strong man to do this and even he had trouble. In addition the red screen for night vision has a 'lip' to find it when on head, however this 'lip' is flush with the rest of lamp and can hardly be found even when lamp is in hands. Easier to flip up than down but not really functional enough. For what the blurb explains about strength of light I was mislead. There are far too few led lights to do a good job. On the positive side, it is very comfortable, so on stormy nights when the power is out I can use this headlight for reading...indoors. Maybe someone else does not have my issues. But everyone who tried this one I bought, said the same about on/off button and no easy access to night vision shade especially flipping it down.
I have several other headlamps and this did not compare to equivalent price - which is too high in any case for what I got.
Small package - great performance
This thing is really lightweight, simple to use, comfortable, and compact. What more can you ask for? Although this thing is incredibly lightweight the amount of light it puts out is wonderful. No lantern necessary.
Got this as a last minute replacement for a broken lamp, and it definitely gets the job done; multiple brightness settings with a flasher and a red filter. Super adjustable strap so it'll work with even with a brain bucket
Petzl Tactikka Plus Headlamp
Nothing bad to say about this. This headlamp is simple, small and provides a nice amount of light for whatever you you may need it for. Definitely recommend it!
You really can't go wrong with this headlamp. Great battery life, extremely durable and light...what more could you ask for?
Good Head Lamp
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Over many years, I have owned several Petzl, Princeton Tec and Black Diamond lamps. I have had the Tactikka plus since 2009. It is basic; but, has everything you need for most general activities. Compact and takes up little space in a pack. Multiple settings for light output plus a strobe and red lens. Good battery life. Great basic lamp.
Cons: I wish it were brighter. At 35 lumens, my wife's BD Moxie headlamp is brighter (55 lumens) and significantly cheaper. It has all the same features with the only down side being slightly heavier. (3.2 oz vs. 2.75 with batteries). This is a good basic lamp; but, for the money, I think my next lamp will be something from Black Diamond.
Perfect fit, great size.
Has enough light for trail walking and dims down easily to save on battery power. The red lens cover flips up and down easily too to help with the night vision, you don't have to continually push a button trying to find the red night vision light. Weighs very little.... The Red Lens Cover(flipping up and down)takes alittle getting use to..
Very solid headlamp for all activities.
Had this for years...about 5 to be exact, absolutely love it!! IF it ever quits on me, Ill be getting another one just like it!
Doing a bit of exploring beneath Jerusalem, Israel in the Hezekiah Tunnel.
a must have
I'm convinced that head lamps are one of the best, most useful tools to have. Whether in the car, camping or exploring the wonders of the world. This is an item you're going to want to have with you. It's clean and efficiently designed and build to last.
