comfortable, durable harness

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

great harness for sport climbing (and canyoneering!). its super comfortable, i like the ventilation, and dig the colors as well. this this is also one DURABLE harness. canyoneering is very hard on your gear and this harness has held up to of abrasions, swimming, etc great. the gear loops aren't huge but for my use, they work fine.

the leg opening issue that others have mentioned hasn't been a problem for me but i can see how you might need to size up to get it to fit your legs. i'm 5'5", 110lbs with small legs and the small works great. i have a little room in the legs but not much.

Comfortable Harness

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

This harness is super comfortable, the legs fit nice. It's designed for a women specific body. I really like the placement of the gear loops, they are set back on the harness and you don't have to worry about your arms hitting your gear. Not to mention, I love the colors of this harness! Super good price point! Fits true to size!

Heed the warnings, size up for legs!

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased this after reading the reviews of the small and unadjustable leg loops. Though in every other aspect of my life I am a size XS, I used the sizing chart and measured my legs. Though I could have probably squeezed into my usual size, I am glad I sized up! The fit in the legs is perfect and the waist can be cinched to fit close to perfectly as well. It's a great deal for the sale price and is super comfortable.

Awkwardly small leg loops?

I had always dreamed of a Petzl harness, and was excited to try out the Petzl Selena. I loved the ventilation, and hoped to find a comfortable harness that would be adequate for hanging. Upon receiving the harness, I noticed the gear loops are set far back, and are tiny and flimsy. It would be tough to rack gear on this harness.

At 5' 10" and 145 lbs, I bought a size M. With the waist cinched all the way, the harness just fit. I never considered myself to have thunder thighs, but the leg loops do not adjust, and were awkwardly tight. After using the harness twice, I moved on to the old faithful BD harness, which more comfortably cradles my newly acquired thunder thighs.

Beware of Leg loops

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

Ordered this for my girlfriend and had to return it because it didn't fit her thighs. Beware of leg loops that don't adjust. I think this could be a great harness if it fits you though.

Pros:
-Feels super sturdy
-Stylish
-Good value

Cons:
-No leg loop adjustment, which makes sizing difficult
-Loops around waist don't stick out as much as you might like

Wonderful Waist, Sad Leg Loops

Don't get me wrong, this is a great harness. The frame is awesome and it is incredibly much more breathable than my Black Diamond Primrose. I wanted so badly to love this harness, however, I am going to have to send it back.

I think my body is strangely proportioned. The waist fit me perfectly if I tightened it all the way. I have a small waist, so I ordered size small for this. Unfortunately, the leg loops were just tight enough to be uncomfortable when standing. I hoped that this wouldn't be a problem, but I was proved wrong. The first time I took this harness out was outdoor climbing. I only did some top rope climbing and after sitting in my harness for a bit and belaying a guy heavier than myself, I ended up with a bruise on my tendons on my left leg where the leg loops rubbed. If I was belaying and my climber took a fall, it really hurt on that tendon.

I tried the harness with some gym climbing twice after that hoping that I could shift the leg loops around and get used to it, but it still ended up being painful.

Thus, though the waist is awesome, the non-adjustable leg loops do not work for me. While I am going to send it back, I'm going to try out the Petzl Luna, which has the adjustable leg loops. I was extremely happy with the Petzl harness, just not how the leg loops fit me.

good, not great

The weird thing about this harness is the leg loops - they taper such that they're wide at the bottom and narrow at the top. Not a big deal for climbing - even falls don't hurt (cuz you of the bend of your hips, I guess...), but belaying? ugh - the top of the leg loops can really dig in. Maybe I have extreme leg taper?

Love the padded waistband, length from waist to leg loops is long & comfy . Like a lot of nicer harnesses there's just one buckle & no doubleback - which is awesome.

size: I'm 5'6'', 130 - a medium cinched all the way down in the waist fits well in the thighs.

The Sofa King Comfy Harness

I love this harness, it is super comfortable and the set sized leg loops are just really convient. The only issue with it that I have is, I have tree trunk legs and a skinner waist, so the waist belt has to be strapped all the way down, but that's not a big issue. However, when buying make sure and take that into account. The only issue I have with this harness is that it does not pack up very well since the belt and leg loops are fairly padded. But you win some lose some, I would personally rather have the extra cushy-ness and have a little less space.

Not good for racking gear

For me, the gear loops on the size small harness are definitely my biggest complaint. You can't rack much gear, forcing me to wear a chest gear loop more often than I would have liked, the loops in back are in an uncomfortable position to reach, which can be very frustrating at the wrong moments, and it does not pack down very well. I've worn other harnesses that do not have a problem accommodating four easily-accessible gear loops despite the smaller circumference. Now that the buckles on the leg loops are wearing through the webbing, I probably will never buy another Petzl harness. But, I have a feeling this is a problem unique to the smaller sizes.

Great harness

I really like this harness. I used a black diamond men's harness for about 4 years, and it started to wear out so I saw this one on sale and got it. I've heard great things about petzl before, as far as safety ratings and comfort, so I was kind of thinking of going with petzl for a while. I purchased a large, and I am about 5'3" 135 lb female, pretty evenly distributed weight. My last harness was a men's small black diamond, but this particular style runs small. It is great not having to adjust leg loops! Makes putting on your harness so much faster. Also, no need to double back at the waist. I kind of miss my rigid gear loops on my other harness, but these are fine. They are a bit smaller, but it hasn't really been a big deal. This is really comfortable too. A really easy adjustment from my last harness. The color is cool too... not that it really mattered that much, but a nice change from my all grey mens harness. So, advice would be order up. The measurement chart explains it pretty well, and if you are really borderline on two sizes go up a size unless you have unusually skinny little thighs. I have to fasten my waist all the way up, but it works great, and I feel good with the Large.

Super comfy, but not for outside.

I have been wearing Petzl harness since I started climbing 7 years ago. They are simplistic, lightweight, and very durable: all things that I found true in the Selena Harness.
HOWEVER, the gear loops are uselessly small on this harness. I can not fit a full sport rack with anchor gear easily, if at all on this harness. The rear loops are even smaller. I laughed even thinking about trying to fit my trad rack on it.
Big bummer, as it's really comfortable and would make for a nice gym harness.

Had to get a size up

I fit in a M Black Diamond harness but got a L in the Selena so that the leg straps would fit comfortably. I wear the waist strap fully tightened, but I think the harness is wonderful. I've gotten so many compliments on the color!

Super comfy harness

I love everything about this harness except that it lacks adjustable leg loops. The harness itself is really comfortable, the waist band adjusts easily and the gear loops feel more substantial than my last harness. I've spent hours taking big falls and sitting in this harness and it's really comfortable for that. However, I have pretty skinny legs and taking big falls off-balance can lead to some uncomfortable leg loop shifting.

fabulous

I love this harness but do have one minor complaint about it- if you wear a size small, the gear loops in the back are significantly smaller to compromise for the waist size. The harness does come with two caritool slots, but I don't really ice climb. The loops provide enough room for sport climbing but everything gets a little too crowded in back when trad climbing. The mediums on up are not affected by this. Otherwise this harness is amazing and extremely comfortable. And cute, which we all know matters!

Breathable!

I had to edit my review for this harness. While it was super lightweight, breathable, and easy to get on and off, hanging in it was not pleasant.First off, the sizing is not typical, but the Petzl website is very precise on the measurements, so if you are debating on which size to get, look at their measurements on their website, it's pretty dead on.I usually buy size small in harnesses, the small in this was too tight for my legs, and my waist. I really had to force the small to get past my hips. My legs were strangulated by the non-adjustable leg loops. I tried the medium which fit on the legs, with some room to spare and the waist belt needed to be cinched down quite a bit. It was comfortable wearing around. Now hanging in it is a different story. When I hung in this harness to test it out the leg loops cut into the backs of my thighs. I think this may have to do with the fact the leg loops were not snug. This was a deal breaker for me.Perhaps if this were a better fit it would have been more comfortable, and if your interested in this style, but want adjustable leg loops look into the Petzl "Luna",

great for hang doggers

this was my second Petzl harness (the last was a Bonnie which I used until it had some wear in the webbing). I went to a few local REI's and climbing gyms and tried on every harness I could afford (under $100), there were the good (BD Aura), the bad (BD Iris) and the super duper worst harness ever (Mammut Vision). I settled on the Selena because of it's comfort (you can hang for days in this), price, brand and finally cool color. I have recommended this harness over the Luna since I found the stretchy fixed leg loops more comfortable than the rigid adjustable leg loops, just note that if you have larger thighs (comme moi), you'll want to size up (my Bonnie was a S and I went with M for the Selena).

Best Ever

I LOVE this harness. It's super comfortable, even when I've worn it all day long and taken a couple drops with it. The mesh lining keeps you from getting too sweaty, and the width of the straps keeps you from feeling like it's going to cut into your skin. Also, the double-back buckle is very convenient and simple to use. All in all, a sweet harness I'd recommend to any gal out there!
