The Petzl Ouistiti Kids' Climbing Harness works for children from 4 to 9 years old and gives your future rock star a safe start on top rope laps. This full-body harness includes Petzl's DoubleBack buckles for fast, easy, and secure adjustment and a comfortable fit. The center-chest tie-in point keeps your kid from flipping upside down in a fall. The Ouistiti Children's Climbing Harness also includes well-padded leg loops to make your little one comfortable on climb after climb.
Bottom Line: Get your child's climbing off to a safe start with the Petzl Ouistiti Kids' Climbing Harness.
This is an amazing harness. I bought this for my 3 almost 4 year old daughter. to do a lot of gym climbing. and she loves it. It is pretty dummy proof (thank goodness). the only thing I would say is a negative about it would be, I wish the legs were padded, so it would be a little gentle on her lady parts in a fall or a slip. but otherwise it works amazing and is super suppotive for her and there is plenty of room for her to grow in it! I would DEF recommend this to a friend!!!
My kids use this at the gym all the time. Except for when they hang in it for a long time(they complain of wedgies and crotch tightness) they find it very comfortable. The discomfort they have doesn't seem to bother them that much. They like this one better than the Simba, and this one still has plenty of room for growth.
Does this harness adjust to a smaller size than the Simba? Are there differences between the two, other than that this one has non-adjustable, padded legs? I'm having a hard time deciding between the two. Thanks!

both my 4 year old and 7 year old niece and nephew used this harness at the gym the other day. it's great for security and comfort; especially for beginners who might be a little timid.
i do think if your kid is going to get into climbing they could grow out of the full body harness style pretty quickly.
Actually, Peter Pan stayed mostly upright while flying, if you can find an overhang your child will love it. But be prepared, he may start to prefer the swinging to the climbing. I work with many children who have autism, and it's a fairly popular theme, especially to make the descent less scary!
This is specifically a climbing harness for kids. Most harnesses are called 'seat' harnesses for a reason, because they put you in a sitting position when they are weighted. This goes around the child's shoulders to keep them upright in case of a fall or when lowering, similar to a chest harness. The tie in is in front of the body. So in all, I wouldn't recommend it for how you want to use it.
Bought 2 at once for my 3 year old and 8 year old. They prefer wearing this to the rental Simba harnesses available at the Gym. Not only because it's theirs, but because they find it more comfy all round. In the Older one's words, "It doesn't dig into the wrong places". More importantly he stumbled on a hold once while being lowered and flipped completely upside down. It was clear that he was never in any danger of slipping out.
No, they aren't adjustable. However, there are a variety of sizes if you look at the sizing chart, you can pick the one that fits best. I've used these with smaller children on ropes courses and they work great (a little big is okay).
My 5 yr old daughter loves this harness, feels safe as she spreads eagle zipping down our 145foot zipline to hit the bungeed stop block at the bottom. My 7 yr old dtr uses it as well, but has claimed the BD Whiz harness more comfortable for her; that or she sees it is more like Dad's Momentum.
We bought this climbing harness for our two daughters to wear at the rock gym. They are three and five. The harness fits them securely and adjusts to their sizes easily so we can switch between them when we have to.
Seems to be a great harness. Worked well on my first trip out with my 5 year old. The buckles sit a little close to the shoulders but it didn't sem to be an issue. Petzl is a brand you can trust and we are looking forward to using it some more.
