Description

The Petzl OK Triact Locking Carabiner combines a classic shape with advanced gate technology.

The Petzl OK Traict is an easy-to-use self-locking carabiner for climbers who prefer a classic oval shape. The Petzl OK Carabiner's shape helps prevent dreaded 'biner shift in aid placements and anchor systems, making it a favorite of big wall climbers. With a three-position self-locking gate and snag-free keylock closure system, the OK Carabiner is extremely safe and easy to use.

More than OK

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got this biner to fit the top biner loop on my Petzl Ascension ascender as a redirect for the rope running through my GriGri2 on my belay loop (I'll try to update with pictures later). I was originally using the Omega Pacific oval, but it lacked a keylock nose and was a bit narrower than the Petzl biner so it would snag and get hung up all the time. No such problems with the Petzl OK biner. Worth the price for this specific purpose, otherwise it's just a spendy oval biner.

Pricy for what you get

Standard oval locker. Screwgate is pretty smooth. I use a couple to clip into the bolts for my anchor systems. Keylock is nice and snagless making anchor setup a snap. Ultimately, there are cheaper options in both oval and D-shape carabiners.

Good when ya need 'em

I use these for hauling with a Mini Traxion to keep from cross loading, and on my daisies when aiding to get the best of the oval (to prevent pant-soiling 'biner shift) and the locking mechanism (for jugging). The keylock is seriously nice when you really don't want to spend a whole pitch getting snagged on wires.

Nice Carabiner

Nice caribiner, the color rubs off pretty fast, but it does it's job.

Gotta have 'em

Love the screwgate for a locking oval for anchors, top roping, etc. Very clean design and well made.

Great on a pulley

When using pulleys you cannot beat an oval krab. The automatic action on the Traict is smooth and simple to use whilst setting up. It also means that the insecure gorilla you climb with will not be able to tighten it to the point of no return. The only downside I see is that you really need both hands to operate the action. The lock can be twisted and opened single handed, with some practice, but it is not a simple affair.
