Who wants a heavy helmet?

Petzl removed every bit of unnecessary material from the Meteor III + Climbing Helmet to keep it as light as possible. Part of that minimalism involved adding a whole bunch of ventilation so this helmet breathes nearly as well as if you were wearing nothing at all and gives you no excuse to leave it behind on any rock climb.
  • Ultralight design for those who want to carry around as little gear as possible
  • Excellent ventilation for warm-weather climbing
  • Headlamp clips for nighttime climbing
  • Ratchet-back adjustment system
  • Retractable adjustment system makes it easy to store the helmet in your pack
  • Remove and wash the interior foam when needed
  • The Meteor III was originally designed for climbing and mountaineering, but it also meets European standards for cycling and whitewater sports
  • Compatible with Vizion face shield (sold separately)

Bought this helmet because I will wear it. With other helmets the weight gets to you after a while and you take it off. This helmet is lightweight and looks decent.

I like the fit, it feels comfortable and you forget you're wearing it. I wore it all day and never felt like taking it off.

As for the perceived frailness, I would probably agree, but haven't seen any wear yet. The helmet isn't designed as a workhorse and won't last forever.

One thing I wanted to see was the profile / backside of it - so here you go:

I'll wear it

Was a little apprehensive at first, but after wearing it for days both whitewater kayaking and mountaineering I can safely say I as quite happy with the helmet.

The chin strap is simple and does not get in the way of my ears, unlike many other helmets, also nice and light..even with a camera mounted on the side of the helmet.

Very simple helmet. What do I like? It is lite, comfortable, breathes fairly well, easy to adjust and does protect against some rock fall. What I don't like, it has less coverage for protection overall (especially around the ears) and a lot of the plastic fittings failed on me in less than a year. If you are looking for better protection and longterm quality, in my experience this lid did not last, but again that is my experience and I could have had a faulty product. I have read a lot of great reviews for this one as well and many people seem to love it. Unfortunately the product failed me and I cannot give it more than a 2 star for the degradation of the fittings. Fortunately it is covered under the warranty and backcountry guarantee which I am working on right now as we speak. Without the fail I would have to say the lack of coverage and protection is the biggest downfall, but other than that this could be a great helmet for the minimalist.

I've heard good things about this helmet so I had to give it a try. I put it on my head and looked in the mirror and said, "NO". It stick up above the head way to high. It's not for me.
