Description

The lightweight, low-profile design of the Petzl Elios Helmet makes it comfortable and easy to wear on the rock and in the mountains.

The Petzl Elios Helmet provides an excellent combination of lightweight and durability for all types of climbing. The polycarbonate shell and impact-absorbing form liner make this a great choice when you need a helmet that lasts but don't want to feel like you strapped a brick to your head. This well-ventilated helmet has clips for a headlamp and can be used for everything from sport to alpine climbing. Adjust the Elios to fit over a stocking hat with a single wheel in the back.

Hello! I been looking for a helmet that can take a fall. I been climbing for quite awhile and ignoring my doctors advice(take meds that make me bleed like crazy) to wear a helmet. I boulder a lot. Will this helmet save me when I smash my head on that beautiful hueco ground?

Best Answer Responded on

Depends on the impact velocity but you will always be better off with a helmet than without. On medicines like warfarin, any serious injury like a fall, a blow to the head, a fracture can quickly turn into a life threatening event from internal bleeding. Listen to your doc. Cheers.

Great Helmet

Comfortable, extremely adjustable and good looking. I can not imagine feeling safer is any other climbing helmet. I have a very large head, while my climbing friends have much smaller heads, but this helmet adjust to snugly fit any of us.

Would anybody recommend this for someone with a little bit bigger head?

I would definitely get the size 2 (currently not in stock). A good alternative (possible upgrade?) I recommend is the Black Diamond Half Dome.

Hey! Can I use it to ride my bicycle in the city?

Responded on

It should not be used as a bike helmet as it had not passed the tests required of bike helmets which differ from those for climbing helmets.

The METEOR III + is certified for climbing and bikes

Saved me

This helmet did everything necessary to save me a trip to the hospital or worse. A Jansport backpack sized rock fell down on my head and leg whilst I was belaying. Thankfully I had this puppy on... while I don't recommend getting hit with rocks, always wear a helmet like this when climbing AND belaying.

Has served me well

This helmet is great and lightweight. It feels pretty strong, and has saved me on multiple occasions from standing up into things that i couldn't see above me as a result of wearing a helmet.

Recommended for those on a budget

Pretty decent helmet. I would suggest trying it on at a store first, the neck strap isn't very easy to adjust and it sits uncomfortably to the side.
But all in all, its a good helmet for a cheap price

Light, comfortable, basic

Used this helmet throughout Australia for sport climbing and took a few smaller whippers with it. Stands up well and stays on your head. Comfortable and light (hence the title). Doesn't break the bank either.

Last word: Simple brain bucket for safety.

Great helmet!

I love it! no complaints here, its comfortable, easy to adjust, and keeps me safe. And is not a bad price compared to a lot of other brands and models.

Is this helmet made in france or in china?

Responded on

I stopped buying Petzl after reading some articles on outsourcing. Once a company starts out sourcing you tend to loss a lot of quality. Most likely china.

Responded on

This holds some truth, but it's not a rule. For example, Black Diamond started out sourcing, but their plants are better equipped and their workers are better trained than most american factories.
