    Easy, Lightweight, Ahhh...

    • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The Tribute 10.0 is just what I needed. Being "undertall" at 4'11", I was looking for a light weight, easy to maneuver, low profile kayak. The 10.0 is the ticket. Weighing only 38lbs, I can easily carry it, and because it sits low in the water, I don't hit the sides when I paddle. The foot peddles adjust easily, and the seat offers comfy support as I explore the many lakes in my area.
I demoed the Tribute 12.0 and loved it, but purchased the 10.0 because its lighter to load and with a few bunji chords, fits nicely into the back of my Tacoma. Easy peasy to quickly get out on the water.
As compared to the 12.0, the Tribute 10.0 is easier to maneuver, but a bit shy on the tracking. All and all a great little boat for small paddlers

    Perfect

I hit the jackpot. I am a female and am able to lift carry and maneuver this 38# 10 foot kayak on my own. This is a huge plus for me which means I can use it whenever I like as opposed to waiting for my husband to be home.

It arrived in mint condition, has a comfy built in seat and is the most beautiful color..cloud blue. I have bilateral knee replacements and have no problem getting in...the width is good. I love this kayak for use in the river and marshes near my home

      Perfect

      Light, Easy to Manage

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I bought this boat because it is easy to lift and carry, and because it fits inside my minivan, eliminating the need for a rack. I am a 5'1" flatwater paddler as and find this boat easy to turn and maneuver. I have to work harder to keep up with the 12' - 14' boats preferred by the other members of my paddling club, however the fact that I can carry this boat by myself and simply slide it into my vehicle makes it worth it.

      Comfortable but shallow

It's very low profile. Very comfortable, plenty of leg room and the seat is adjustable. The only complaint I have which did not occur to me when I tested it out in the show room; it is very shallow which can cause a fast running river to fill it up in a hurry. However I am an amateur and that most likely made a difference. For someone starting out, you might want to stick to a deeper compartment.

        Perception Tribute Kayak

I love my Perception Tribute 10.0 kayak. It is very comfortable and easy to handle. The seat adjusts easily and so do the pegs that your feet rest on. I haven't found one thing that I don't like about this kayak.

What is the better kayak for agility and enjoyment, 10 or 12 foot??

          Best Answer

          Wendy,

This is a personal preference which you will receive different answers to, but I'll go on record as saying I love 12' boats. I don't have the space or money for 2 boats and I like to do a mixture of open water and rivers. 12 footers work nicely for this because they are still agile, but track well enough for open water. I find that 10' boats tend to wander too much for my taste, but if you're only paddling rivers and around the beach at your favorite campground's lake, then this might be ok for you. A lot of people will tell you that a 12' boat will never move as fast as a 14' boat, but I have never met anyone who can outpaddle me in mine..... soooooooooo blah blah blah ;) My vote is 12!

(I should also point out that hull design plays a major factor in speed and maneuverability! Flat bottoms will be agile, sharp keel lines give you speed and will keep you going straight. Chines, Skegs, rudders, etc etc)

          I hope this helps!

Wendy, I have a 10ft boat which I chose because it is light weight and fits inside my vehicle. It is easy to turn and maneuver. However I have to work harder to keep up with the 12' and 14' boats preferred by the other members of my Kayak Club. A 10ft boat will not go as fast as a longer boat.

is there a package deal that comes with this kayak? I am new and would need paddles and lifejacket. Could I get a discount on those items. How long is the sale on the above kayak? Let me know so I can make a decision soon.
