A little bout of sticker shock is expected when pricing replacement cassettes. That's because they require extensive engineering and are expensive to manufacture. Because of this, Pedro's Chain Checker Plus serves as an essential tool if you plan on preventing premature wear to the cassette.

With the Chain Checker Plus, you're able to quickly determine if a chain is within proper specification. And if it's reached the limit, it's time to replace — before compounding damage ruins the cassette. On top of keeping an eye on excessive chain length, Pedro's added other useful features. These include a chainring nut wrench and a chain hook tool, which assist with the chain reconnection process.

Pedro's Chain Checker Plus is constructed from tool-quality steel and comes with a lifetime warranty.

This is a great tool that is easy to utilize and understand. It basically provides a yes or no answer to replacing your chain and it if it's way off, you probably need a new cassette as well.

    Accurate and Easy

I already had the little Park chain checker tool, which is easy enough to use, but I was never really certain if it was telling me the true story of chain wear. The Pedros tool was on sale so I gave it a try. Yes, it is better! It is a well designed tool and gives accurate readings easily. Read the review in Velonews. I'm not totally sure why this tool is better, to tell the truth, but I'm not taking any chances to let a worn out chain wear down the precious cogs on my Dura Ace cassette.
