Description

Happy palms the morning after.

Let's face it, caring for a Pittards leather glove requires a bit of effort, more than you may want to put into a pair of gloves. The Pearl Izumi Select gel gloves offer comfort rivaling any Pittards leather glove in an easier to care for and less expensive package.

The secret to the gloves' durability is the Clarino synthetic leather used in the palm. Clarino isn't quite as soft or as sensitive as Pittards, but it can be machine-washed day-in and day-out without drying out, shrinking, or stretching. The Comfort Bridge Gel padding places gel pads at the bottom of your palm on either side of the Ulnar and Median nerves to prevent discomfort caused by nerve compression.

The backs of the gloves are cut from Direct-Vent mesh to give excellent breathability and optimal fit, while an absorbent polyester panel on the thumb gives you a way to wipe your face. A Velcro closure cinches the gloves on the underside of the wrists.

The Pearl Izumi Select gel glove comes in nine colors: White, Black, Blue, Red, Screaming yellow, Jetstream scroll, Black scroll, White scroll, and Roseblossom scroll and five sizes: S-XXL.

Here's what others have to say...

Poorly placed embroidery

I have to question the design choice of putting the stitched GEL into the terry cloth exactly where you'd use it to wipe your brow or worse, your poor chapped nose. Otherwise, decent glove.

Gloves!

Fantastic gloves. The padding is spectacular and fit/comfort is second just as good. I'd choose these over the standard Select Glove by Pearl, as the Gel feels a little nicer.

Great fit and feel

I purchased a pair of these for daily commuting in northeast Florida and they are exactly what I needed. Light-weight, breathable, and very comfortable. Some other riders have mentioned sweaty palms but I have not experienced that in the limited time I've owned them. Overall I think they do a great job and cushion the vibration well on non-suspension forks.

PI select gel

I've liked these gloves. they are way padded and the top fabric is pretty comfy. I like the velcro closure on the bottom of the wrist. they have held up well so far

Happy with these gloves!

I chose to go with gel gloves because I was having problems with my hands going numb even on short rides. When I bought these gloves, I first made changes to my seat height and position to make sure that that wasn't the problem, but my hands went numb again after 10 miles. The next day I used these gloves on a 40 mile ride with the same bike setup without any numbness. Great gloves IMHO.

really good fit

I like these gloves, they are comfortable on your palms because they have just enough padding and its not bulky, very breathable. Great summer glove.

Excellent - comfort and fully functional

I gave these gloves a bit of research and read others reviews before ordering a pair. They do exactly as described and I will be adding several more pair to my biking wardrobe!

Those Pearl Izumi gloves look great & I'd like to get them for my husband. Can someone tell me where they are made? He's particular about things like that. Unfortunately our last bike store in town closed a year or so ago.

silly me. I just read the information on the side wall. ok, they're made in China. Does anyone know of any good gloves that are NOT made in China. It's the one country he really has issue with. I don't want to get into politics (I get enough at home). I just would like a recommendation for gloves not made in China. Thanks!

Had I been around back then I would have suggested cutting off the tag and hoping Hubby simply thought they were "handcrafted in Venice"...

Great padding but a little sweaty in the palms . . .

I've worn the Pearl Izumi Select Gel Gloves on rides about half a dozen times so far. The gel padding is great, but my palms are sweaty after each of my rides; I live in the southeast so it's pretty hot during the summers. Because the Pearl Izumi Select Women Gel Gloves only come in pink and white, I bought these unisex gloves instead that offer more colors. Overall, I would recommend these gloves.

Pearl Izumi Select Gel Gloves

The Pearl Izumi Select Gel Gloves are very comfortable and make my trail rides a joy. They help keep your hands from getting blisters and feeling like sandpaper after a long day of biking. I highly recommend these to any serious rider

Pretty cool

These are pretty cool gloves, much better than my older Novara brand (from REI) - the gel makes them comfortable when riding against a rugged handle bar. I wouldn't give them 5 stars because I don't feel they breathe too well, my palms were a little sweaty on hot days.

Pearl Izumi Select Gel Glove Review

The Pearl Izumi Select Gel Glove provides ultimate comfort. Great for biking, and also great for hiking those trails where you need to get on your hands and knees because the person (or goat) who designed the single-track trail was insane.

These gloves are light-weight, functional, durable, and comfortable all in one. I was happy I made this purchase.

Do these breathe well? Looks like the palms might get very sweaty...

Responded on

They have a lot of mesh on the tops of the glove and the palm is perforated so it breathes better. Shouldn't get too hot, these gloves are made for hot/summer conditions.

Responded on

They breathe quite well. My hands are rarely sweaty unless it's just really humid outside.

Love the big sizes!

This is a totally functional and well made glove. I love the XXL size, my hands are huge and it can be hard to find gloves (especially for cycling) that fit well. These do the trick, and do it in style. The red does turn a little pink-ish when stretched out over white skin though

Summer Riding

So far these are the most comfortable summer glove I've owned. True to size and cool colors. A steal for the price.
