Unlike many leg or knee warmers designed for ease of removal mid-ride, the Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Barrier Leg Warmers are designed with a more singular intent -- maximum warmth on cold rides. Granted, the Barrier Warmers are fitted with ankle zippers for complete ease of removal, but its windproof P.R.O. Barrier fabric is designed for those rides that start cold, and finish cold. The shell fabric is backed by Pearl Izumi's thermal fleece to help keep your knees cozy while also delivering optimal moisture transfer and dry time. Pearl Izumi also included silicone grippers at each hem to keep the warmers snugly in place, along with rearward-facing reflective elements to help keep you visible if you're out past sundown.

The P.R.O. Barrier Leg Warmers are sold as a pair, and in sizes X-Small through X-Large.

warm but poor fit depending on your legs

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

5'8" 150lbs, bought a small. it was a little too long and loose. the fabric does its job but cannot warm what it doesn't cover: the crotch. if you're riding in cold weather, you need cold weather tights/knickers and cannot get by with just these and a pair of gossamer summer shorts.

that said, these did actually warm my legs; the arrangement of windproof panels in front of the knees did work nicely.

even when i wore the warmers under my shorts, they seemed to slip down even on relatively short (10-20 miles) rides in 40 degree weather.

Regarding leg warmer slippage (so irritating)... try this trick offered by mar2596868: use skin balm. I use organic "Badger Balm" made in New Hampshire (avail online or at natural food stores). It works!
